2 lightsabers

also you have a weaker grip using two... while lightsabers can cut through most things they still require physical force to be able to and a 2 hand grip offers more and makes it harder to have the weapon knocked out of your hand

Like that scene in Ep. 1. Qui-Gon plunged his lightsaber into the blast door. You couldn't just turn it on and use one finger to push the lightsaber through. It actually requires physical force to do so.

yes then he had to use 2 hands and lean into it to try and cut the bastdoors and it still was cutting very slowly ... honestly a light saber isn't much more than a fancy plasma torch

also there is the fact that Jedi are supposed to be peacekeepers (at least that's what they keep saying) and not soldiers... so it's kinda like asking why a cop carries a pistol or club instead of an assault rifle when an assault rifle is better... the tool is supposed to match the job

I consider the lightsaber as more of an intimidation. The bad guys see you got one and they would most likely back off. Except for the very brave or foolish thugs.

It's also a multipurpose tool. Or some sort of swiss army knife. :D

well it's obvious that every jedi should just carry two double bladed lightsabers... if 2 blades are better than one than 4 blades are even more better... just look at how well they did for General Grievous :D

I can't remember where I found it, but I think there was a Clone Wars episode that featured a four-armed Jedi of some sort that used dual double-bladed lightsabers.

2 sabers do indeed look cool and intimidating but I'd go one step further. How about a special double-bladed lightsaber as standard issue? Except this saber is better than the one Darth Maul had because it can be separated mid-pommel into 2 separate sabers.

So the wielder has the option of turning on one blade, both blades, or using two sabers.

Sure most wielders don't and may never master all 3 styles but the options are there for a very cool multitool :)

I don't remember the name of the episode but ya I've seen it... it was the one where they were on the planet that had no day and the Jedi who had the 2 saberstaffs goes dark side and the clones take him out

also in the video "Return" for this game we see both Jedi and Sith going 3 blades (one saberstaff and one normal saber) tho it wasn't what they usually carried and was a heat of the moment type thing... it still looked bad ***

I think Exar Kun used that. Not sure though.

It is actually the umbaran trilogy and the Jedi is Master Krell.

No I didn't look it up :D

I think exar kun had a short double bladed lightsaber with a dual phase setting or something like that.

I believe his was unique in the fact that it could shorten itself but not complete diffuse. So he could use it to make his opponents miss his blade allowing him to kill them while they were unbalanced.

Corran Horn did something sort of like that with his dual phased saber when sparring with Marra... tho he shut it off when she went to strike then turned on the longer setting which would have speared her when she faltered from not swinging and not hitting his blade or something like that

but ya most of the dual phased I've seen have a standard length setting and then a longer length setting... not a standard length then a shorter shoto length one

we really do need to get some of the more exotic saber types in this game tho like the guard shoto, Light whip, Curved-hilt, Crossguard and whatnot... even if they are only vanity changes

I would actually like a curved hilt like Count Dooku. Or a light-whip. I would love to see new types of Lightsabers in future updates.

I'd really like a lightsaber claymore... ya know just a normal saber but with a larger hilt and longer blade like that one Jedi used in the second book of the Bane trilogy ... simply because the normal saber when you use body type 3 or 4 with a male sith/jedi looks ridiculously small

I'm sad that in TOR double-bladed lightsaber is ordinary. I think it suppose to be rare, very rare. In the end, there was none left until Darh Maul build one for himself to get at least some chance to kill powerful Jedi Master by this trick.

They were rare in the time of the fall of the Republic, yes, but back in the Old Republic, they were fairly common-place. not as much as single hilt or dual lightsaber specialists, but it certainly wasn't rare by any means. Does it make them feel less special? Maybe. Doesn't make it any less fun to play a Sith Assassin/Jedi Shadow though.
