Without knowing where you left off it's impossible to give you a precise answer, so if you've already done Forged Alliances, Shadow of Revan and Ziost, you are right where you need to be to start the new content (KotFE). If you haven't done them yet, play them (or you will be locked out of them when you start KotFE).

Start doing section x, Black hole and Cz 198, they have a big one time weekly bonus, if you do them from Activities, it resets on tuesday afternoon GMT.

Yes, the Group Finder has been reworked so you can have different kinds of Activities from there.

I've been trying to level up my level 60s to 70 so I can get cxp as soon as possible and I've found flashpoints give about a level or at least 75% of a level with an xp boost. And I'd just try to hit the overlapping or easy heroics like pubside alderaan, balmorra, coruscant and the starter planet.
