Me and my friend are both level 50's, he had nearly 2 million credits, and our subscriptions are running out (his did), and he doesn't to log on to see if he lost his money, since he has no subscription did he automatically get reduced to the credit limit? Or does he have to sign on to lose it.

Your money isn't "lost", it's transferred into credit escrow. You can't access it as long as you remain as a preferred player, but if you sub again, you get all the money back (+ all the money you have made during the time you were preferred but had the maximum amount of credits).
