JediHeroine
Agreed with everyone. Today some people have this extreme high standard when they go into a game and when that game has a few things that they don't like automatically the game is bad. People just don't go into games with open minds anymore. They stick to the old.
Aelrail
I think most of the hate towards the game could have been avoided if EA/BW would have managed the forums better. If you had seen the forums a couple of months ago, the place was a cesspool of insults and whining and BW/EA did nothing to moderate them. They have since been doing some moderation regarding the most offensive threads but the should still do more. I'll give you 2 examples, Botwars2 (GW2) and WoW. If you go to their forums they are way better moderated than the SWTOR one, specially GW2 forums where they have very strict rules about posting, and even when the game has as much, or more bugs than SWTOR (and IMHO is crap) you don't see the kind of hate forum threads you see here. Why? Because they have dedicated moderators that immediately close inappropriate topics or repeated topics. Same thing with almost any other MMO out there. It is actually depressing to visit the forums here, specially general. I mean, how many topics regarding bugs is EA/BW is going to allow on the general forum when they should go into the CS forum. I don't visit general forum to read about bugs. They let the hate and stupid threads run rampant for too long and that created a lot of really negative feedback on some of the readers which then complaint and become unhappy with the game eventually leaving. GW2 learned from that and they close immediately any thread complaining about the game which gives the impression that the game is doing well, that way the players don't get depressed when they visit the forums looking for info about the game, They dont find a 1,000 topics complaining because Anet have closed them all leaving the interesting and constructive topics which is the purpose of the forums and what the visitors are looking for. Just my 2 cents
Silberfalke
Cause EA Bioware made a whole lot of mistakes, in grand and in little, and therefore only a fraction of the original population is left. Their road till today is filled with broken promises, lies, very slow progression in bugfixing, bad support, etc. The current subscription state is very well deserved. That said, i hope they can change for the better and regain the trust of their playerbase. I like many parts about the game, especially PvE, and the new instance is awesome! Captain_Zone
OP, a lot of people on here are bitter vets from over a decade of MMOs. They see a new MMO, hoping it will be EXACTLY what they want. Then they discover that even though it's a great game, they focus on the one or two things that weren't included that they THOUGHT should be included just for them. They then go on an emoRAGE spree complaining about those things that this game "should" have. Then some, when they DO get what they want, find something else to complain about. They're worse than soldiers. Hell, when I was in, we would complain about everything as a way to blow off steam. The main difference is that some MMO players just look for any reason to complain, threaten to quit, then keep playing anyway. Who knows exactly why? It is what it is. denpic
I agree with the post about the forums being handled badly And also there's no character link in the forums so you get players that have done nothing in game spout all kinds of stuff they really have no right discussing
GreySix
I like the game, as it provided an opportunity for my wife and I to play cooperatively. But my disappointment lies in the repetitive nature of the the game, regardless of which class you choose. I've got two Republic and an Imperial character (two of which are Level 50), and when you play the story-line, it's pretty much the same with just a few differences. All the side missions are the same. In short, it's a really fun game to play through once for each faction. Then it gets old, unless you like to do war zones with groups and such (which I don't). Now they're making it FTP, and many of us felt that would pretty much spell the death-knell of the game. Will be dropping my subscription shortly, since I can can continue to play without paying anyway.
Majedron
I don't hate the game so much as I am not impressed with the stories. Yea the voice acting was cool the first time I heard the planet side story but to create another character then another and go through the same quests 4 times, yuck. Lets not forget they closed a perfectly good game with a very large even though they chopped it up a bit sand box for this a game with nothing but a guided tour to the Star Wars Universe. I really don't care for PVP and don't have the time to search for ops and flashpoints. Personally for all the areas they have created for the prior they could have added a couple new planets by now for me to explore. I don't hate the game I just feel they tried to get to many WOW players by trying to create a SW WOW named TOR and I hate WOWs game play.
Daynna
To me, it feels like they forgot the star part of STAR Wars, by giving us railshooter space. I don't want my kills handed to me like they are in this game.

Cyphen
Some people, just want to watch the world burn.. Heh I knew someone will say this. No matter what you do, how you make it "better" or "improve" it, people will ALWAYS have something negative to say. I don't mind negativity when its constructive but there are people that simply hate for the sake of it.

Apache
I also wonder about all these hate threads here on these forums. I fully understand that the game has faults, and I even agree with many of the posters complaints a lot of the times.. But its the level of hate that comes within those posts that I dont understand. I dont see how people can put forth so much time, effort, and energy into being so negative about a game that they dont have to play if they are not happy with it. It seem so much easier to just walk away to me.

stitchersflock
Simple answer: because the Internet is a license for people to act like bullies and there are no consequences. Complex answer: many gamers had unrealistic expectations about the game prior to release. Anyone with half a brain would have realized that a story driven MMO from Bioware would have been linear in nature. Today's MMO consumer burns through content faster than it can be produced and then the forum posting begins on how the game "sucks" because of X, Y, or Z. So combine unrealistic expectations, linear stories, and unmoderated forums you have the perfect recipe for a great game to be a villain. The game has problems, name me one game out there that doesn't. The game has awesome story telling and interesting mechanics. The voice acting is a wonderful addition and one all other MMO's are now following. I enjoy the game immensely. Just resubbed as a matter of fact. The forum community seems improved over let's say six months ago, and let's hope and pray that trend continues once the F2P conversion is complete. So my best advice is ignore the haters and enjoy the game.

QwibQwib
When I let it slip that I enjoyed SWTOR, some guy started to aggressively ask why I liked the game, and just wouldn't accept that I genuinely enjoyed the game. Apparently "it's a terrible game because it's not SWG, and is too much like WOW, and oh, you can't use the story as a reason why you like it." I'm sorry, I don't like being interrogated for half an hour as to why I enjoy something. You can hate the game all you want, just don't try to make others hate it too. For the record, carebears in MMOs are simply anti-PvP. I know. I've killed plenty of them in EVE. Actually the term has evolved over the past ten years or so... Yes, they are anti-pvp and are generally those QQ'ing about being ganked on a pvp server, but the term has expanded to include most of the general population of QQ'ers in MMO's.
