CHAPTER 1: CLAW AND TOOTH

In the asteroid filled space around Xemenbagh, The Trandoshan known as Tetinark Ghost lurched forward in his seat as his sail-ship, the resolute was rocked by another blast from his pursuer. The ship screamed in protest of the attack, and Tetinark could feel his control of the ship slipping as the controls slowly failed. He could hear parts of his ship begin to tear away, as he lazily flew around the slow moving rocks that were drawn to the swamp-planet's gravity. As he looked out to space at the green jewel, protected only by a cracked shield of glass, he realized his situation was dire. Another blast rocked him, this time knocking him violently to the right, sending him spinning into a large, oncoming asteroid. The stars and space became a brightened blur as he spun, and Tetinark needed a plan- And fast. He quickly jumped from his seat, leaving the useless controls as his ship steadily fell apart in space. He fell on the cold metal floor of the resolute, and when he quickly rose, he found blood dripping from his snout. He snarled silently, rose to his feet, only to fall over again- This time harder, while the sound around him exploded. He had come in contact with the asteroid. The metals of his hull bent and broke under the pressure, and Tetinark made his way to his ship's hallway, bouncing from the walls like a ball being thrown between two playing children. He came to his room, gripping the wall with his sharp scaled fingers, and threw himself in, falling again, on the floor, and scampering to his study, where the holocron sat.

When his eyes sat upon the small pyramid, all time seemed to stop. It sat unassuming, hollow paths etching and zig-zagging on the sloping sides of the object. He could notice a dull, red glow within the pyramid, and like the snores of a sleeping beast, threatened of the power capable once roused. Another rocking blast hit Tetinark's ship, breaking him from his trance. He gathered up the Pyramid, holding it close to his chest, and quickly wrapped himself in his dark robe, an impressive feat considering the violent circumstances. He ran drunkenly from his study, stared down at the controls that sat on the opposite end of the hallway, and turned, sliding down a ladder, and found himself in the small confines of an escape pod. He was free of the asteroid now, and the ship sputtered and spat as it's engines tried to fight Xemenbagh's gravity. Tetinark winced when another shot racked his vessel, and then ejected from it- In seconds flying hundreds of miles away from his doomed ship and the asteroid field. When he looked upward from his escape pod, he saw through a transparent screen his attacker hawkdive after his vessel, and with one well-aimed shot, destroy it in a ball of blue flames. Tetinark smiled to himself as he realized that his attacker had not seen his escape. Allowing himself a small measure of comfort, Tetinark cradled the holocron in his hands, and began to brace himself for the impact when he finally landed on Xemenbagh.

It was on this day that Tetinark found his first apprentice.

CLAW AND TOOTH PART 2

Terken Dert was a lowlife. Everyone on Xemenbagh was a lowlife, but he was of such terrible character that they actually distinguished themselves from him. He was known as a murderer and a thief, a liar and a cheater. Ever since his birth, it seemed as if his life was destined for sordid activity. He was born to Kele Dase, a defected Mandalorian warrior, and Jie Gar, a low-Chiss woman who Kele had "acquired" in his travels. Terken himself was born on Xemenbagh, his parents had settled on the murky planet, hoping that it would allow them to hide from those that were searching for them. Terken was born shortly after, and grew up wading in the dangerous swamps and running in the open plains, both areas that could get anyone, especially a child, killed. But Terken was known for being able to survive things that no one-especially someone so untrained as a child, could. It seemed he could see things before they happened, he could move faster than the quickest warrior, and when given the chance, could learn anything.

His father, of course, loved his son's abilities, and it wasn't long before he trained his son personally in the art of Mandalorian combat. Terken learned Feso Kaba, or hand-to-hand defense, Gan-tai Kaba, ranged attack and defense, and finally, Ceran-Kaba, the art of wielding the blade. Many nights Terken spent sparring with his father, almost daily, waking up with bruises that ached in protest when he tried to move. But slowly, his body acclimated. He grew stronger, he grew faster, and he grew wiser. In addition to training with his father, his mother taught him knowledge. Despite her Low-Chiss status, Jie Gar was able to retain an education, having formed a friendship with Gol Tet, another Low-Chiss who was a tutor to the Chiss Warlord Juu'ae'lur's son, Kett'ua'de, of which both Gol Tet and Jie Gar were servants. Gol Tet secretly taught the other Low-Chiss the knowledge that he had learned, hoping that one day they would be able to rise from their positions, and overtake the High-Chiss. So it came to be that Jie Gar learned of the stars, gravity, space, mathematics, and how many things came to work with one another in perfect balance. (PART 3 COMING SOON)
