Great, I have no problem with that. But at some point she does need an in-universe resolution. If they leave her fate open I will be much more disappointed than if they give her a send-off. I'm fully ok with an off screen send-off, as long as it's in Ep9.

 

Examples:

Her ship is destroyed in battle

She is assassinated while recruiting/fund raising

her ship sacrifices itself to save whomever

My initial thought was that they would kill her off screen and mention her demise in the opening crawl of part nine. It'll be interesting to see how they approach this. Mark Hamill is also supposed to be returning as a blue glowie. Edited July 29, 2018 by Pirana

No issues here, but does need to be resolved.

I mean Tarkin and young Leia already returned as CGI as well so I'm not sure why this news of dead actors returning would come as surprise to anyone

Though "using previously shot footage" to simply inset in to a complete different context situation sounds a little awkward to me. But we'll see how it goes.

I'm sure JJ knows what he is doing and would not even be using the footage if it didn't make sense. This could easily be resolved off screen, but he has found a way to make it work and I support that.
