Fubarq
What will they drop? Still just BH comms? It would seem that doing those missions would be a lot less valuable unless they upgrade the rewards to help with the new gear.
Mugen_no_Jidai
That and if you can't exchange space comms for gambling crafting boxes (the highest tier), there won't be much reason to do them either.
Fubarq
Exactly. I think this is really important. I love the space missions but I don't do them simply because I love them. I do them because they give me another avenue to get gear and also to make credits (Tier 8 boxes for stabilizers, which you can sell for great money). If they suddenly go from rewarding near the top tier to rewarding pure obsolescence, they will have been completely neutered. Considering that they were only introduced in 1.6, that will be really sad. Unless, of course, new missions are released, but I imagine that that is too much to expect. Has anyone who has played 2.0 on the PTS checked this out? Edited February 23, 2013 by Fubarq
Doctoglethorpe
They actually drop quite a lot now, a few classic coms, a few basic coms, 2 elite coms, and still the 40 fleet coms, blue trophy and same credit amount. My memory is slighty spotty though, I might be wrong about either the basic or classic coms, I know you get at least one of them pretty sure you get both. Either way, they are actually worth more now in terms of gearing. Less credit value if they don't add a grade 9 mat box to the fleet vendor (they haven't yet) since stab prices are dropping. Fubarq
Thanks very much for the response Doctoglethorpe. That's really good news that at least the gearing comm rewards have been pushed forward. Appreciate the input!!!
Mugen_no_Jidai
I asked Dulfy if there were any new material boxes on the fleet vendor, and the answer was a negative. Looks like there's currently no point in saving up space comms in anticipation of 2.0, as I've been doing for several weeks. Guess I'll stop doing space missions entirely until the patch, then. Space missions might still give rewards worth doing in 2.0, but the space comms themselves have become effectively worthless. I hope that this will be changed. http://dulfy.net/2013/02/22/swtor-commendations-system-in-patch-2-0/#comment-809745296
revan_worshipper
Well this is PTS so its all subject to change. The way I see it either there's something new that you will be able to get with the fleet commendations, or they become worthless after he patch. Either way, you want to get what you can now. It's just a matter of should you spend them on grade 8 boxes while they're still valuable, or save them up for the potential of something new in the future? Smuglebunny
Wait? A human has completed the new space missions? Shocking. I bet I could beat them If I had lvl 25 parts. Only have lvl 7 now.

Only have lvl 7 now. They aren't that hard. It definitely takes a few wipes to learn the mechanics; but, once you know them, it goes the same way every time. I would recommend the Nefash's Pilot Training School website. It really helped me nail the missions I was still struggling with.
JSunrider
Even the ones I find the most difficult (station defense by far, station assault to a lesser extent) are totally clearable. My favorite part about the heroic ship missions is that the two easiest missions are the weekly.

My favorite part about the heroic ship missions is that the two easiest missions are the weekly. Duma is easy cake but I hate Cha Rabba. Its the only mission I'm always too close to failing for comfort. Definitely the hardest IMO. As for there being no grade 9-10 mat boxes to spend fleet coms on yet, I wouldn't assume thats not going to change. PTS is not final, especially not a month (or more?) from release. Stab prices have already plummeted, I'm just gonna save up for now on and hope it pays off.
JoseWan
Cha Rabba and Kanz Minefield are the two most difficult for me. It's rewarding when you complete the bonus objectives in the heroic space missions.
EHKodiak
You get elite comms for heroic space? That's good news - a reason to keep doing Space. Cha Raaba and Kanz Minefield are definitely the hardest ones. Edited February 25, 2013 by EHKodiak
Fubarq
I think the difficulty varies for everyone. I definitely used to think Cha Rabba was the hardest, but for 2 months it was one of the few you actually got to DO every week, so I got really good at it. Now I pretty much have it down and find it to be cake. The ones I find toughest are the ones that require you to be very good/successful within a very short window, and if you fail there you fail the mission. Kanz Minefield definitely comes to mind. I also find that on Kabal Station Defense I'm almost always desperately trying to get the last of the 30 bombers required to complete the mission. Of course now I focus on most of the bonuses as well, which can make it more stressful to complete the main objectives! Overall I have to say that I love these missions. Hoping for more someday! JoseWan
Really? I'm just surprised. I do all heroic missions every week. For me Kabal Station is a piece of cake now including bonus, as is Duma Strike or Far Craddle Strike. But I struggle every time I try Cha Raaba or Kanz Minefield. Go figure I love them too. I wish they make more space content

Jamus_Divinus
Overall I have to say that I love these missions. Hoping for more someday! They have more for us. Just a question of when they'll release them. This screenshot of a heroic space mission is from last June. It's not ingame yet. http://www.swtor.com/info/media/screens/space-combat

Mugen_no_Jidai
So, did we get grade 10 materials boxes for space comms with the new update, or are they just talking about changes to credit rewards?
Fubarq
So I just ran Lorta Escort and honestly I am not sure what's changed exactly. Amber, are you able to elaborate on what was done to the rewards? I got 40 fleet comms, 1 blue trophy, 2 elite comms and 5 basic comms. I went to the vendor on fleet and didn't see that a new Tier 10 crafting "box" had been added as a reward. So I am a bit stumped -- did the amount of credits change? Were those not the same comms I got a couple of days ago? I thought it was but I could definitely be wrong. Any info you can share with us would be awesome. Ok, I'm off to run Lorta on my 6 toons that I do these on every day on Live!
ZeridanShear
The credits are seriously borked now. There is a post in PTS about it too, but essentially they remove all of the credit bonuses from the bonus missions as well as the completion mission, and barely raised the credits for the Daily/Weekly mission. Not quite seeing the 'significant increase'. More like a serious nerf. That, and hopefully they do add Grade 10 crafting mats to the vendor otherwise the Heroic missions will be, shockingly enough, run a lot less than they already are. Fubarq
I don't run them for the credits but that is a bummer. Anyone else NOT get Operation: Cha Rabba Assault today? I only got Operation: Foe Smasher today. Usually I get both on Sunday.
