honestly even though it is frustrating there is a pretty simple solution to it.
just level a powertech to 50.

let's face it, gearing is the only thing that requires a lot of time and you can just sent 80% of your merc's gear mods/armorings/enhancements over to your powertech and have him fully geared instantly.

just uncraft the mods put them in some legacy gear and sent them over.

with the new event you can even sent barrel over since you get a legacy bound weapon.

Yes, I have entertained the idea of switching to Vanguard occassionally, seeing how they always seem to outperform us damagewise at equal gear level both in PvE and PvP. But I have invested thousands of hours of hard work into my commando and I cant carry over my huge title, pet, speeder, valor rank etc. collection. Switching to another character doesn't fix the problem, only compounds it.

My first character was commando, played on gunnery all the way to 50 and PvP was my thing, only to find out that we suck....that was abit over 7 months ago, yet we still suck while our big brother (vanguard) get's buffed all day every day. Dropped my commando real fast and started leveling up other characters, got interested in commando again.

Glad to see that we get at least some short of boost. I hope BW will spot this topic and take pointers, really like this topic.

Actually it's been suggested that Shoulder Cannon may be a Vanguard-only ability despite the fact that the datamined information claims it's for all Troopers. If it's Vanguard-only, then I'm guessing Electro Net would be Commando-only.

Electro Net benefits Commandos in PvP. Shoulder Cannon is universal, it helps Vanguards both in PvE AND PvP.
Vanguards are getting straight-up damage buffs (in both trees) even though they are already the highest hitting AC in the game along with Sentinels. This puts them above us on even more the damage charts. Classes in equal gear are nowhere near the 5% "grace window" Bioware claims exists. Vanguards can already do stupidly high DPS on mobile bosses (like Kephess the Undying.) They crank out ~2800, we do ~2300 in the exact same gear! That difference is nowhere near 5%!

Commandos are getting PvP utility and some survivability. This will not help the already existing huge damage discrepancy. What is being done to address this?

Bah, I was looking forward for that shoulder cannon for commandos ! Oh well, guess I'll have to keep my gunnery commando collecting dust....such a shame.

Actually, that Electro Net should increase DPS a fair bit on those mobile bosses as well - if the boss is moving, he's taking increasing damage from it.

all of these datamined abilities are listed under base classes only.

the only reason some of them are known to belong to particular advanced classes is because those particular abilities also note a particular spec. common sense would denote that a combat medic skill would be for commandos only (and not for all troopers).
for shared specs, a lot of those abilities can be inferred using the same reasoning, but it's some of them don't give enough information to be 100% sure.



even in this thread, an assault specialist skill that mentions charged bolts is listed as a buff for vanguards. it's easy to make that mistake since it's just under 'assault specialist' but the ability is clearly meant for commandos.

If it were reversed in how many stacks it could build (as in, 10 in pve and 5 in pvp), I might be inclined to agree. As it is, that it potentially does twice the damage to other players than it does to npcs doesn't exactly have me optimistic about the damage it's going to put out.
