CPU spikes to a 100%

I'm using a Gateway laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo @2.80 GHz, 8gb ram ddr3, nvidia geforce 9800M GTS.
My current game confuguration is absolutely everything on low or off. The problem is that while running, the two SWTOR processes show a combined usage of cpu around 80-85%, constantly, which often jumps to 100%, making the framerate drop to 2-4 for a solid 5-6 seconds at a time, and it doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing when it happens.
I made an ingame ticket, in which I wrote basically all the above, and they advised me to turn off Depth of Field, which did absolutely nothing for my issue. They also said that if it didn't help, I should post my DirectX log, so here it is. Please, any help would be appreciated, the game is unplayable for me at the moment.

Forgot to mention, it doesn't seem affected at all if I have Skype, Opera and Xfire running or not, and those are the background programs I run, mostly (and BitDefender, but that can't be turned off )

After fiddling around with the settings (oddly enough, increasing some from their low/off state...), I got a somewhat normal pve framerate. However, the framerate in warzones plummeted to new lows, and I got my first ever BSOD just a couple of minutes ago while in Alderaan PvP.

Any help would be appreciated, I really enjoy this game, was in beta, was there on launch, but this is just insane...

I know it is, but this is a new development. I've always had some fps issues, but recently it's been unplayable.

IM having the same problem all of a sudden. plays perfect then not matter where I am at or what im doing, I get a message from nortons 360 telling me my cpu spiked to 95% and then drops like 20 sec later and back to normal playing.

BTW a comp being old or what ever has nothing to do with the game hitting your cpu that hard for a few seconds.

I've never had good things happen with Norton running in the background.
