Level 50 Chaos and Harmony Quest Help

Did it in second try. I am seer specced.

I had Tharan with me. First time the 2 adds spawned. I died. But I revived inside the cave itself and went to the very back (far away from adds). Now All I did was to stand with my back towards cave wall and spam damage spells (project, Telekinetic throw, mind crush etc.). I interrupted only the 'bring down the cave' spells. Tharan, my occasional heals plus 1 medpack were able to keep me alive. The fight was very easy with this strategy.

Once Syo was down, I killed the adds.

basically this but in reverse the adds are the only problem with the fight tbh.

So, this fight (really the whole room) is bugged. I show up and attack the adds. I cc one, kill the other, then go after the first one and it disappears. "oh well," I say.

Fight Syo and both adds attack. I say, "ok, must have to kill the adds" and get one-shotted while focusing on them. I go look up the fight and read about the cavern collapse thing.

Second try (kinetic Shadow with Theran healing) I stayed faaaaaaar away from the adds and kept an interrupt handy. The fight was laughably easy. Would have preferred something in between.

More bugs: after my conversation with Syo, I am put right next to the adds and they attack. Was able to finish them, barely. Finally, I did not see a way out of the cave besides a quick Travel.

I am a bit surprised that the climactic fight of this story line was handled so poorly, especially when most boss encounters are scaled better and basically bug free.

It was hard at first as a sage I kept trying to use Zenith and only managed to get him to 50% even keeping him stunned and force lifting him when things got hairy to recuperate. So I switched out to Tharan between his stuns, my stuns both of us being able to heal I kept hitting him with everything I got, interrupting his mega force quake was a must the first couple of times I died was due to not paying attention to that and stopping his disturbances which were nothing I started taking them letting Tharan heal me and it worked out better. Everytime he got too close to me I force blasted him away and hit him with project. I used all my damage over time effects then when I finally got him to 10 percent spammed telekenetic throw which I spec out to have no cool down. He really is tough though it was a worthy battle after going threw the other children fairly easy. I think Stark was more of a challenge made me want to walk away from the game battling that mofo.

Took me a couple tries, shadow k.Combat i used nadia, after changing nadia to the two bleed stance she was able to help me rev out enough damage to beat him.

As the first couple post stated the biggest thing is to interupt his force abilites. I have noticed a trend in this game almost all encounters with a boss or the like you need to interupt some attack to live through the fight, unless uninterputable.

Not sure why tank companions did not get an interupt but the healer companion did.

Tharan is the key for sure. As a balanced sage used to cc and with Tharan's interruptions had no problem at lvl49. Though first time got a bug when 2 previously killed apprentices re-spawned in the middle of the fight. Later on I had to Masters Syo in the instance - "saved" one and another sick but without a quest mark. Edited by Mirandel

Couldn't agree more. Over a dozen times trying with my faithful Qyzen, but did it the first time with Tharan. It was close, but I did it!

I got to save him too.

Shadow tank with Tharan... died several times until I did the following...

Either interrupt or LoS the Collapse Cavern induction. I could handle everything except this skill (it one shots you). As was mentioned, interrupt near the end of the induction as it is long and does no damage until it completes.

The only thing to worry bout is interrupting his rock trow spell (cave-in I think its called).

So, save your interrupts, take damage through his other spells (always have force armor on yourself and comp).

Oh, and Biochem helps with reusable medpacks as well ;)

Use Tharan and turn on Holiday for the stuns. It makes the fight a lot easier. I (finally) finished my class quests last night as Infiltration with zero problems.

This worked for me as a Healing Sage, too. Working with Qyzen, I blew all my Force on healing, then got whittled down to nothing. With Tharan out, our combined healing and interrupt power meant we kept Sonny Boy off-balance the entire fight, and I could mostly conserve my Force for my miniscule damage output.

INTERRUPTS, INTERRUPTS, INTERRUPTS

The key to this fight is to use your interrupts. Collapse Cavern MUST be interrupted. The others can be problematic for some, but if you aren't good with interrupts, skip them and just heal through the damage, but don't miss Collapse Cavern.

I leveled pure Seer tree and have only ever used Qyzen.

I went to do the battle as a level 50 Sage. I attempted several times with Qyzen and, though it never worked, I have a feeling it could have. In my final attempt, I used Theran Cedrax. Before this attempt I had read this forum and looked for advice on how to avoid the one hit kill cave move. If you can avoid that move, the battle becomes fairly simple. I put Cedrax in his Medwatch stance and i fought him using Project, Force in Balance, Force Wave, Force Speed, and Force Armor. I stunned Syo everytime he attempted to use his Project-like ability and Cedrax stunned him occasionally as well. My advice to anyone attempting this mission, stay near the entrance: everytime he attempted to bring the cave in on me and I ran there, he just stopped his cast and I could continue dealing damage.

Happy hunting :wea_03:

Killing Syo Bakaran:

Step 1: kill his two companions without getting agro from syo ( they don't respawn)

Step 2: Stay in that section where the ladder is he can't use cave in there, the cave in only works in the main area where he is.

Step 3: kill him :)

( any of the above steps work) as a tank at lvl 50 32/0/9 build with theran out, [just used the normal tanking rotation for shadow] i never even got close to him killing me by loosing health only died when he dropped the roof on me) that is until i figured out the above.

Step 4: hope that after you kill him he doesn't despawn right away and you have to wait ~ 5 mins for him to "respawn as dead" :(

Either it's much easier or I got really lucky or, least likely, I'm just that good. Killed him on the first try (I killed the two adds before the fight). I am Infiltration Shadow and I used Nadia. That's 2 DPS. AND I stayed in the center. Interrupted him every chance I got. Can't say I didn't have a few 'pucker' moments but I got it done.

If you're rolling a Tank Shadow, this fight should be cake-walk. Every other 'boss' I've ever faced in the story has been nothing but hack and slash. I don't even need heroic abilities anymore since they are all so easy to kill.

Same goes for the last boss, just interrupt his Project Storm (1 hit kill) and resist his disturbance things, and it's basically tank and spank. Not to mention at random times he stuns you and your companion and heals.

I did this a couple of nights ago and it wasn't hard if you save the mind snap interupt for the cave in spell.

What I did have trouble with was that Syo vanished after I killed him and I thought I was going to have to do this all over again. He eventually came back after ten minutes or so. This also happened on another quest on Ilum. Anyone else get this problem?

They know about this and are working on it. same thing happened to me with the same two characters.

Just finished it on my 46 shadow with doc for backup, much easier than I was expecting it to be if you keep the interupts flowing..blast him away, pull him back, stun, spinning kick..whatever it takes. Playing hide and seek by the rock wall next to the ladder is useful too.

Also had the same issue with him vanishing when it's time to speak, as with the posts above he reappeared after maybe 5mins and I got to finish the quest.

I'm having something very odd happen in this fight. About 60 seconds into the fight, he force lifts us, heals us a little, gets blasted back then brings the ceiling down on us for an insta-death. I can't seem to find a way to avoid this unless is has something to do with keeping him away from you? Would love some insight on this!

^ this. Once he force lifts us, then he drops the ceiling and we're dead. So is this some sort of enrage timer?

Last year, Syo killed me several times until I researched what he was doing to one-shot me. Then I beat him as a Shadow (Kinetic) with Theran in tow. Still a tough fight that took a few tries.

This second time around as an Infiltrator, it was far easier and I got Syo with one effort.

Here are my tips:

Gear Theran up and bring him with his offensive shooting skills shut off. Make sure to activate all his healing and interrupt skills.

If you level up with some patience and complete all quests while leveling, you should hit 50 on Voss, or at least early on Corellia. Do the Hoth bonus if you need the XPs. Easiest to take on Syo as a 50.

Last year I had to fight Syo in modded orange gear, this year it was full Tionese--much better gear given out this time for fresh level 50 toons. Theran had on adaptive Purple Cartel gear I handed down to him which also made a difference, with the mods adjusted of course.

After killing the escorts and going through the cut-scenes, be ready to back track towards the ladder. Syo went after my companion first allowing me to activate buffs before engaging him.

Keep the fight near the narrow part of the cave because you can use the LOS or Ladder trick when you are near the rocky wall. And if you get blown back you can use the walls to keep you close for melee strikes.

Syo's force powers can be allowed to hit you, except for the one that brings the rocks down. Keep your stuns and interrupts ready, and after a bit you can even get a feel for when Syo will try to Rock you to death so go ahead and pop a Low Slash in anticipation if you have other defenses ready to go in reserve.

Keep to your rotation that triggers all your combat advantages--do not let the knock backs throw you off schedule.

Also take note of the temporary skill in your bar and use it.

Syo went down like wet tissue paper using these tactics.

So Syo killed me five times in a row. The first time was just a learning experience, you MUST interrupt Collapse Cavern.

The next 4 wipes confused the heck out of me. I was specced sage, and using Qyzen as a tank so DPS was very slow and I'd estimate I ran through four Collapse Caverns in the course of a whole fight.

What I finally figured out was that for some reason Force Stun and Mind Snap were not interrupting Collapse Cavern, in fact they were grayed out and wouldn't even activate when Syo was in his Shadowy form.

Force Wave was the only ability that worked. Once I figured that out the fight was quite easy, though at one point Syo was perched about 4 meters up on the wall from the knockback of successive interrupts. Fortunately Qyzen could still attack and there was no evade bug, but for others who use this strategy I'd try to keep Syo in the middle of the room just to be safe.

Healing was easy, but I have all the willpower datacrons up to Corellia, and gear was at about 116 rating for all slots, so I'm probably overgeared for it.

i know this is not really the purpose of this forum, but are there any benefits to keeping him alive. I want to kill him since my jedi has some dark in him, but i am not sure if i would then look bad in the story finish.

I don't know for sure, but it is possible it could affect your promotion at the end, but I doubt it. That's more determined by your alignment.
