What could a 5th class be on either Faction?

The topic came up when me and a few friends were in a skype chat before, we were discussing what they could include as a new class so we came up with a pretty simple idea of an Imperial Soldier and a Republic spy, which could have the ability to hybrid wield a training sabre and a blaster pistol/shotgun, so just to expand on ideas, what do YOU guys think a good 5th class could be? I don't think there's any need for a 5th class, instead they should focus on developing the already existing classes

Further their stories, give them more options to diversify themselves, I could see a large expansion adding the ability to change faction for example, a change of allegiance expansion of some sorts

Not going to think about it since the game being F2P, the direction BW took with class story on Makeb, and the voice acting needed for another class... it won't happen.

Im not on about the technical and programming side is, I was asking what a potential 5th class would ever be, but i see your point

IF they were to make a 5th Class for each side, then I'd rather it be completely original and not just an "answer" to one of the other side's Classes. Meaning, Imp Trooper is just an "answer" to the Republic Trooper and really how different AND original would the Imperial Trooper's storyline be to that of the Republic Trooper's Storyline? Same for the Republic [sIS] Agent.

I'd rather them change existing classes to be different. The game I'm about to describe will probably never exist.

Trooper --> Delta Squad leader, commands up to 3 companions at once

Operative --> Quests are designed so that the less people you have to kill, the better

Smuggler --> Behind Imperial lines most of the time, hiding from real players/NPC's

Bounty Hunter --> More free form, has a database of Rep/Imp targets that they can access anytime. Not attached to Empire.

Jedi/Sith --> Able to fall to the darkside. Jedi Knights can convert to Sith Warriors for example.

Hopefully the Class would be neutral. WE CAN PLAY HUTTS :,D

One would think that with the Rise of the Hutt Cartel Expansion, that would be plausible, but in all actuality, I think that if it were to happen down the road, it would probably depend on what they do with the story of the RotHC Expansion, specifically what happens with the Hutt Cartel. If they go the route of the HC becoming a viable force, then they might add 3rd Party Classes that belong to the Hutt Cartel. But, even then, that would be a big "maybe".

I thought about this a while ago. In short, since BioWare stated that the more "alien" species would require an entirely new class, I thought they should indulge that thought. Since these aliens play a supporting role in the movies, they could in the game, too, mechanically. We are missing a devoted de/buffer class, and I believe this role could be easily filled moving forward.

That was a thought that was dismissed early in development (the classes were going to be Smuggler, Bounty Hunter and Voss Mystic, if I recall). I would be very surprised if they revisited that notion now that the dust has long since settled.

The costs of voicing all the quests makes a 5th class unlikely, I think. But if they ever do make another class, I hope it's a non-Force user melee type. Maybe a Teras Kasi or someone to use all those vibroblades and electrostaves.

I have to disagree with this myself, unlike the original voice acting. Which included hundreds of the top voice actors, they just need to employ a handful of no bodies. And it takes at most 1 day to have someone come in and read off the lines. voice acting isn't like being a top billed actor in Hollywood, granted you do have the RARE case like the Simpsons. Most voice actor make well under $50K a year from voice acting alone, and that depends greatly on how much work they can get and how popular they are.

And I have to guess but the expansion should include a huge amount of voice acting for all the new quests on makeb.

I quite like the idea of another melee class, right now we only have one complete melee class for each faction, not including the Assassin/Shadow subclass. If they wanted to go the route of a different species, Wookies would be a great fit for a melee class. I just don't ever want another Jedi class, we have enough Jedis.

a 5th class for both factions need to be a droid!

you could be able to fully custom it (either to become more like the ep1 droids, the rolling ones with shields or even like the 4 lightsaber from ep3 one) < add ac class profficience: lightsaber =D

an droid would be nice and the ac for them could be like melee or ranged where you could become tank (melee) or healer (ranged)

but i really think droid is the way to go... serves for both factions...

Personally, I don't think new classes are needed (or likely, at least in the near future), but I would want to see "leader" types:

Repbublic Noble and Imperial Officer

The game designers have insisted that the eight core classes all represent iconic experiences from the movies (eg, Sith Warrior = Vader or Maul, Sith Inquisitor = Palpatine, Jedi Knight = Luke, etc), but there's nothing to reflect Leia or Padme (or, for that matter, Tarkin or the many military types who aren't always on the frontlines).

I often wonder what "iconic movie experience" the Imperial Agent comes from. I have to assume it was SERENITY.

I'm currently working on some ideas for a medium armor force using tech specialist with a dual wield AC for tanking and dpsing and a ranged AC for healing and dpsing. Trying to establish a similar system to the death knight rune system or in this case technique system.

Base class names, Republic / Jedi Outrider and Imperial / Sith Frontier Scout.

I'll get around to posting the suggestion and some sort of story to introduce the first of this uniquely weird class idea when I have some free time to do so. :)

Personally, I wouldn't put too much work into the nitty gritty. Having seen many suggestions over many years in many MMOs, I can tell you that the ones that developers are most likely to act on are the most vague and conceptual rather than specific and technical (unless it's regarding an existing aspect of the game). :)

Oh I fully expect my suggestion to have 0 replies, lots of views and have nothing ever come of it. :D

Instead of new classes, they could focus on AGR (Alternative Galactic Relations)!!!

Why should my Bounty Hunter be forced to work with the Empire? Maybe she doesn't agree with their turning any nonhumans into slaves, maybe she's an alien to them, so why would she even want to help them? Maaaybe, the Republic would pay her better for her services!

Same goes for Smuggler. We already see a Smuggler on the IA/BH starting planet, that works for the Empire.

Could work for all the classes!

SUPPORT AGR!

only problem is:

bh = trooper

ia = smugler

even tough you could say bh = smugler from one point of view...

its probably because of balance... if not, i could really see a neutral faction of freelancers smuglers and bh...

but there is also the point of view of BHs being more related to the empire and the smugglers breaking the mando blockade... (see: http://www.swtor.com/holonet/galactic-history)
