Is there a huge plothole with the timeline of the game?

The Empire in The Old Republic is the "True Sith" Empire we hear about in KoTOR 2 correct?

"For three-hundred years we prepared, we grew stronger." - From the TOR reveal trailer.

If SW:TOR occurs 300 years after KoTOR, how can this make sense? I thought the True Sith Empire was preparing since after "The Great Hyperspace War" if I remember correctly and that's well over 300 years from SW:TOR.

Can somone clear this up for me?

The Great Hyperspace War was a war fought between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire in 5,000 BBY.

One Sith survivor fled to the Unknown Regions and after 20 years of random Hyperspace jumps in desperation to avoid the Republic, he and his armada eventually came across the forgotten planet of Dromund Kaas and established himself as the Sith Emperor. There, he performed dark rituals, altering the planet's ionosphere into an electrical storm and prolonging his own life. He rebuilt the Sith forces and bided his time, until the Republic was weakened and ready for invasion once more. This culminated in the Great Galactic War between 3,681 BBY and 3,653 BBY. <--- This is the period of KOTOR, KOTOR 2, and SWTOR, with SWTOR taking place during 3,681 BBY and 3,653 BBY, with KOTOR 1 being approximately 300 years before this.

In between the GHW, and the KOTOR period, was all of the rest of what happened to Naga Sadow, etc. The Sith survived scattered across the Unknown Regions. Revan rediscovered them during the end of the Mandalorian War, when he heard the Emperor call out to him (KOTOR 1 taking place right during those events).

"For three hundred years we prepared, we grew stronger, while you rested in your cradle of power believing your people were safe and protected." Malgus - Decieved trailer.

Before the Great Galactic War, the last major conflict the Republic faced was the Jedi Civil War, which was approximately three hundred years prior to the True Sith Empire's invasion. Yes, the Empire's been building itself for thousands of years, but the '300' years is likely as much a reference to the state of the Republic as the state of the Empire. He's saying, 'while you've been resting for the past three hundred years, we've been preparing, as we always have', or something like that.
