Hello everyone!

With today's PTS update players can get a first look at what changes will be coming to the Nar Shaddaa Nights event later this summer. With that in mind, here's the feedback that the team is looking for:

  • New Daily Missions have been added on both Nar Shaddaa and Mek-Sha.
    • How do these Missions feel?
    • Are they rewarding?
    • Are there any issues when completing them?

[*]Do the rewards for the new "Counterfeit Tokens" Daily Mission feel comparable?

    • Light side - grants a buff that significantly improves the odds on the kinpin machines but gives less tokens up front.
    • Dark side - doesn't grant the buff but yields more tokens.

[*]How does it feel to have Mek-Sha become involved with the event?

Let us know your thoughts!

Hi there,

apart from the fact that both missions regarding the Counterfeit tokens do not cout for the mission "Dubious Odds", i thinks they're pretty nice.

For the mission "Dubious Odds", adding a reward for the Emperor's Grace would be a nice thing. It feels like a weekly mission, completing a lot of single missions, so the reward should be a bit more.

The missions were pretty fun, it is nice to have some thematic missions alongside the casino event, but I've ran into an issue with the counterfeit tokens mission though as I attempted to kill the ring leader but was unable to and had to switch to PVP instance in order to get the NPC to actually die. And I appreciated Mek-Sha being included, it is nice to have these connections to other hub-worlds of hive and villainy.

Data Driven Services: There is barely enough of each required npc's to interact with which has the proper debuff to coincide with the quest.

Counterfeit Tokens - Nar Shaddaa: The Dire Skull Informant in the PVE instance was red but locked with 1 HP. Mission couldn't be completed unless swapping to the pvp instance. Completion doesn't count towards the Dubious Odds mission.

Counterfeit Tokens - Mek'sha: No issues with the Informant. Completion doesn't count towards the Dubious Odds mission.

Drinking from the Cantina Bar if you get the "Taking a Drink from the Well" - "Feeling Speedy" buff. You really don't feel speedy with a speed of 0 and you're unable to move unless you click off the buff. The random insta kills are a nice touch for a chance to get the Feeling Lucky buff.

Emperor's Casino Chips are crazy rare off the Kingpin's Bounty slots. The Emperor's Grace Slot, with the one chip for it I managed to get, turned black like it had shut off then gave me a jackpot after three spins.

Unfortunately for the new quests it's negative feedback from me. I found:

  • Too much travelling around for the Counterfeit quests
  • The quest involving gullible/tough/affable patrons I can see being hard to complete when it's busy if patrons become unavailable once spoken to (and very few of them counted for this quest)
  • Neither the Nar Shadaa or Mek'Sha counterfeit token missions complete properly so DO NOT count toward completion of the Dubious Odds chain so the quest can't be handed in.
  • Neither of dark or light buffs mentioned are applied on completion of either Counterfeit coin mission.
  • I'm not a big fan of either Nar Shaddaa or Mek'Sha so the rewards aren't worth me bothering with this chain in live

I noticed that the vendors are still offering Weequay and Rodian patron decorations BUT as you still haven't fixed the decoration override bug (in which these two decorations are over-ridden by the CM patron decorations with the same names) it's pointless having these listed for sale. I also didn't see anything new that I can't get elsewhere for much less bother.

Will there be a new companion this year? That's the only thing that might get me over to the event.

Nar Shadaa Nightlife Event is stale, and I do mean stale. Why haven't you added a Star Wars Card Game? Pazaak or Sabacc could be added with little effort. Or is you want to run Slots then run a real slots and not the awful one included now? A dice game would be viable as well? Roulette? Baccarat? 21? Open your minds, use the Force!

So far I love the changes and additional missions. Didn’t get to test it more than 10 minutes before the kids needed a drink so I will update when I test it later. Looking forward to traveling to Mek-Sha to do that part as well.

Update 1: after viewing a YouTube video and seeing what I’m actually supposed to be doing I understand a bit more however whenever I log in (tried switching over-pvp instances too) I still don’t see the new quest character to pickup the next daily. The old pit boss rubenhnimaal and grenk are still in their places from last year. Aren’t there supposed to be new npc’s there? Obviously there’s bugs it’s pts.

Update 2: At least Ruvehnimaal and grenk give the dailies so I can complete dubious odds.

Update 3 perhaps switch the order In which you receive of the two quests “complete counterfeit tokens Mek-Sha and Nar Shaddaa so I don’t have to leave Nar Shaddaa and then return. Once I leave I have to navigate all the way back to the casino. Quality of life....

Missions are pretty cool, glad to see new content for Nar Shadaa Nightlife.

- Mission set up is kind of confusing - you get the weekly with all the missions at once from the blue case/ terminal but then you have to get the individual missions one by one through completion, but it didn't seem like there was any indication you had to complete the first one to get more so I wasted a bunch of time looking for places to pick up the other missions.

Additionally, the mission window doesn't give you any info on what you're supposed to do, it just says "complete the mission" or whatever

- As others mentioned the Nar Shadaa and Mek'Sha missions never show as completed

- The blue case / mission terminal is always clickable and offers the mission, even when you already have it

- I like the Nar Shadaa And Mek'sha missions the best, however the enemies you fight are too weak- they all die in 1-2 hits so it doesn't feel like much of an accomplishment. Even the regular enemies in the area (at least where I was in NS) were slightly stronger. Would love to see them get a buff so it feels more substantial and not just like busy work.

I do really like that if you choose not to take a cut you get ambushed by a bunch of guys.

- Also concerned that on the mission where you have to remove people that it will be too farmed on the live server and you wont be able to find patrons. The mission itself is fine though.

- I never got any Emperor tokens so I wasn't able to test the machine

- I couldn't figure out what the buff(s) from drinking did? I do like that you die if you keep drinking lol

- Sad that there are no big new rewards added this time (mount, companion, etc)

Cool to see some additions to this. I have no idea where to even begin getting the Emperor's Grace slot machine tokens. I've not yet tried anything either. And that's my point. I wouldn't imagine where to begin. I would guess I should do the casino missions, but they don't indicate you'd get them from that. Other than that, I have no idea.

When you get to remove troublesome patrons, you get to keep going even after you complete it, before turning it in. Not gonna really complain about that. Buuut, you still have the ability even after turning it in. If that's supposed to happen... then I find it quite amusing. If it's not, then HEY! IT'S BROKE A LITTLE BIT! Same with the marketing one that comes after it.

I'll be heading to Mek-Sha soon to do the next mission. I'm liking this aspect.

Pretty much the same comments as above, especially about tedious travel and finding NPCs.

Also again, what about those decorations with duplicate names? Please fix this before the event, and while you're in there, fix the other decos with duplicate names as well? I paid real money to get decos from the Cartel Market and then broke my ability to use other decos.

And if there's any way I can beg you to release more variety of slot machines (even if they're not interactive) as decorations, we'd really love to bring the Nightlife feel into our strongholds. Thanks!

With the "slot" machines are we supposed to get more tokens? because when I tried the first machine and other machines I didn't get anything when they hit green. unless it's going to be like an actual casino, then it's working as intended lolz. (keep in mind I'm not used to giving public feedback as a tester so excuse me)

Hello everyone!

  • New Daily Missions have been added on both Nar Shaddaa and Mek-Sha.

Opening Statements

I like where the new dailies are going and it's good to see thee event updated. However, before I comment more on the missions, I'd just like to mention that the real drag for me is not the lack of missions but how boring the slots themselves are.

Perhaps making the animation on the machine easier to see and show more spin states might help with increasing engagement. Also, more varied rewards would be nice. It drives me nuts to spend ten minutes just trying to get something useful when it feels like the machine is just spitting the same chip back at me. If it wasn't for the rewards *cough* decos *cough* I wouldn't do this event because it feels like a chore to get the necessary currency for rewards.

Here's some thoughts I had about the event last year:

https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=966366

https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=965489

https://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=925421

About the Missions

  • Having more repeatable jobs is nice even if it feel off for alliance commanders that normally take the high road.
  • Boss Said Knock You Out - Not sure which customers I'm supposed to be targeting. Am I missing an indicator?
  • Data Driven Services - Seems random rather than being a puzzle. It would be more fun for me if it felt like there were clues to pick up on. I think that using the same tactic on the same type of customer didn't give the same results in each case. Maybe I missed an indicator again.
  • Counterfeit Coins – This felt a little bit more like a chore. I think I would have liked it better if there had been more story behind it than “go crack their heads for me.” However, counterfeit coins missions completed without counting towards Dubious Odds so I had no way to obtain the latter rewards/buffs.
  • Dubious Odds - 10 chips seems like a low reward, especially given that the sum total of the chips from the daily might not even be enough to get you one certificate.
  • MekSha Missions - Including a casino on Mek Sha was pretty cool. However, it seems odd that there would be Soovada celebrations going on in Hutt Breaker’s territory. But, I see a story opportunity here. It could be that Hutt Breaker has her own rival celebrations to try to steal the shine and money from the Hutt’s Soovada displays of wealth. It could lead to interesting story missions in the future.

Suggestion: There’s not enough time to implement it this year, but it would be nice if we had missions like Chapter 6 in KOTET where you are trying to use clickables to solve puzzles and advance a story. It would be even better if there were a few variations so that it felt a little different each time, kinda like running a star fortress does. Maybe we could be thwarting a rival Hutt hostile takeover or finding Soovada themed goodies for the festivities.

Other Thoughts

  • I like the new statues and NPCs in the casino.
  • CL-4W! I want a claw machine gonk droid pet. :) Hopefully, one that makes sounds like you've won a prize.
  • I miss being able to use extra chips across characters. Now that it is a currency, it is bound to only one character. However, since chips are currency instead of items, it would be nice to see them drop as rewards from mobs or missions more.
  • Alternatively, it would be nice if you could buy or otherwise obtain an item that would let you reduce your credit drops and rewards from other gameplay in exchange for chips. Since the slots are a credit sink anyway, using chips in place of credits seems like a good way to keep credit generation down.
  • Another future idea, Pazaak please. :) It would be nice to have other games. The slots just aren’t that fun… really. :(

So are the vendors selling anything new? I heard that their will be Taxidermy deco's that are basic reskins of the ones already for sale on Onderon, but with gold mantels rather than silver. If that's the case, then that's a real bummer cause taxidermy has nothing to do with Nightlife event and if you already bought the silver ones, and don't really care to get the gold ones, then there is nothing new to buy.

So if they're not selling anything new, and there is nothing new to win from the slot machines, then what's the point of doing this event?

If it's true, I have to agree, more taxidemy won't make the event enjoyable.

Some new rewards that would make me spend many hours playing Nightlife --

* New slot machine decorations, especially if they're interactive, and styles of fireworks launcher. Very in-theme for the event!

* Music Therapy Probe as a ceiling decoration. (Any toy as a deco!)

* New decorations from the cantinas -- holo dancer tables, holo dancer poles, more bar shelves and countertops, an empty pazaak table, a dejarik table with holocritters on it (like the emote), a bartender doing the counter wiping emote, any of the personnel sitting on chairs, sabaac table, etc.

* A new jukebox, or even better, any of the old deco jukeboxes that automatically and continuously play.

* A hutt pleasure barge deco that fits in a Centerpiece or Starship slot, something we could actually walk on board. Would be perfect for the Nar Shaddaa SH landing pad.

* Cosmetic party outfits, some colorful, some slinky.

* New skins for companions, especially the companions that don't have any (or have few). I'd love a few more skins for Phrojo Nuray and the Gamorrean.

* New weapon tuning with fancy holo patterns in neon colors.

* A regeneration toy where we play on a slot machine while recuperating.

But most of all, if you really want people to love Nightlife, get some single- and multi-player pazaak tables working, some roulette tables (which could just be a variant of the kingpin machine), etc.

Just saw a video showing off the CL-4W droid, found in the corner of the casino. That needs to be a reward! Hopefully, a deco. Even better, a pet (cause then it will definately be a deco). Coolest thing I've seen the devs put out in a long, long while.

Update: Apparently someone testing has confirmed this is the reward from the Hutt slot machine. I'd like to know if its a pet or a companion. Anyone know?

I've spent some time messing around with the event and the new quests.

The quests are a welcome addition to an event that has never been particularly engaging. It's nice that folks who want to do more than burn credits and click get do some basic questing and have their time rewarded with some free plays.

Let me echo the comments that new additions sold by the Golden Certificate vendors are less than impressive. Golden certs are going to be prize most of us come away with, so please, please, let there be rewards worth saving up for that aren't a slightly different version of decorations that were recently added to game elsewhere. I get that you want the vendor prizes to be low effort, but at least give us something that isn't already available. This list from Tor-decorating is chock full of possible decorations based on existing assets. Armor-wise, you could also dust off, rename and recolor any of the old PVP or ops sets that are no longer accesible in game. I don't know how difficult companion customizations are to implement, but there are still many companions who are not covered by the options available on these vendors. And finally new color crystal and dye recipes are always welcome.

I think you should want Golden Certificates to feel like prizes. Without anything new and fun to spend them on, they will feel like quite the opposite.

Lastly, I happened to notice that the duration of the dance action from the Dance Floor decoration has been slashed to 6 seconds. I assume it is using the same trigger or action as the version in the casino that is now a quest objective. Reducing the duration of the decoration by 90% utterly ruins the fun factor of the decoration. I hope you can find a way to reverse that change.

There are literally threads of people asking for the duration to be increased. Why in the world reduce it?

Dance Floor and Gambler's Mic need a very long duration, please.

What have people been getting from the Emperor slot machine?

I've used two Emperor tokens and got Kingpin Token x50 both times.
