Dark Side Trooper is "The end justifies the means", and the end is Republic victory - at all costs. Light Side Smuggler is quite pro-Republic, and quite a bit selfless - less about profit, more about helping people. Dark Side Smuggler is "I want my profit, rest of the galaxy be damned!" My 2 Cents.
