I didn't had a reference on this. Utilizing various resources about this topic and the replies in this thread, gave me information about the technical aspects of programming and developing. I now also have an idea about how things work from an organizational point of view. The office part. This helps me understand some of the decisions unveiled on the official site, and not just Bioware's. My play style and my way of experiencing the game versus upcoming changes may always be somewhat frustrating, yet now I have a more honest and general idea where it's coming from.
  2. Yeah that was not meant to be taken serious. Yet I find the enthusiasm with witch the class changes are announced each time somewhat unsettling. I wondered why upcoming major game changes/content, as far as class mechanics goes, don't seem to be made on top or around existing and working class abilities as much as possible. Yup, that was sarcasm on my part. Still, I did not fully saw the idea about the Disciplines being proactive for developers. Sure, Skills and abilities need to be tweaked as a MMO goes forward, it's just some of the proposed choices on changes witch I don't get. E.g. moving key/ iconic abilities for a certain role from a high tier to a low tier to get the right experience early on. As explained by BW on Disciplines. Taking as example the BH:PT Jet Charge as exactly such ability, I can't figure out the logic in moving it now tens of levels up. Or proposing to add abilities/skills that by the sound of it, belong more in Star Trek, to fill in the spot. But there, I really want to thank those of you who have replied. And you specifically, Malastare. I now have a greater understanding on the daily workings in this field of expertise.
  3. Can someone explain to me what developers actually do all day? Are developers just one group of people who, when completed all content for the next expansion, have to busy them selves with class changes in order to not fiddle their thumbs till five and continue fiddling the next day. Do they not have a set salary, and are paid by the amount of class abilities replaced? I'm really serious here! I do not understand the developing process. I thought when Disciplines were released, Class Abilities and skills were honed to perfection. So different and new, that I thought Class Changes were an undesirable thing of the past.. Much how an artist doesn't keep painting over and over his masterpiece. How wrong I am. Hence my questions.
  4. we made Jet Charge/Storm baseline for all Powertechs/Vanguards My guess would be to make it in line with JK/SW's baseline Force Leap. When they present JK/SW Class Destruction, you'll see those will be moved to level 61 as well? Unload was moved to Mercs 'cause they are ranged (despite the fact I used it often in early FP's when not picked as a tank, or as an AP) yet now everyone gets a tank ability? I don't get developing..
  5. This is not a Sith Empire, like Darth Revan's or that of the Triumvirate, this is the Sith Empire. It's roots going back to the days of King Adas. It's people, non-Force sensitive and Force sensitive alike share the long cultural heritage of Korriban. Unlike the many disillusioned Republicans and Jedi who followed Revan and Traya. I find it disappointing the writers don't emphasise this more. Good luck planning a revolution by trying to peel away the very cultural identity of members of a proud and millennia spanning society. This. The Sith Empire faced near extinction before. It's resolve to conquer the galaxy is, unlike Revan's and Traya's empires, to ensure everlasting survival. The need to ensure survival took a few steps up after taking note of this. And for Leonthyne Saresh, was she not a political rival of Dorian Janarus and Elin Garza after the death of Supreme Chancellor Paran Am-Ris? I'd like to see Garza as Chancellor
  6. I was under the impression Vic became Sgt. As for (ex) military on this subject; much of what is said has merit, and I can certainly understand some of it stings, as it brushes aspects of a part of a life you have lived. In fact, it's the same kind of sting you feel when some idiot is telling you how to do your job pretending to know what your job entails. Just keep in mind that in fiction, any fiction, the portrayal of professions is seldom correct. I also would like to re-introduce you to the H-team! MAJ (should be COL) [player name] "Hannibal' [Legacy Name] CPT [PC choice of XO] "Murdock" 1LT [PC choice of not-XO] "Face" SGT Tanno "B.A." Vic strengthened by Lieutenant Yuun and Forex. And a word of wisdom do not incur the wrath of the writer, as we may find the similarities not ending here. In the next Class story we might end up casted out of the Army with accuracy stat -100, as Soldiers of Fortune
  7. Trooper should have been made Colonel at the end of SoR imo. Why? Legacy Title "Fleet Admiral" to name one. Military hierarchy in sci-fi just works different, for various reasons like the one the BW writer said. Realistic to promote Trooper to Col.? As far as I'm concerned just as realistic as a JC & JK mashing a few training droids on Tython to get a certificate to lead Republic Troops. Also, it could be me but Navy companion Malavai Quinn gives me the idea he's getting to be more Group Captain than Captain as his/SW story develops. Whatever the case, the standing of the player classes attached to a hierarchy in comparison to companions is for the Trooper the lowest. Trooper rank as it is a problem? not to me. As I said, can be made even higher. Benefit is that this would make for future story content where a large military force can be (again) attached to the CO of Havoc Squad.
  8. That's fair Still, that's not stopping me finding it funny how people feel the need to post their objections to other people's request for something based on how it would not work irl, thus it must not be made in game. Like metal bikini's or in this case high heels (whether or not in combat situations). I always wonder how much time or how many replies it takes for such naysayer to stop jumping around the hoops and come clean with the real reason behind those objections. Ideology/religion/culture or irrational emotional basis. I myself think this isn't going to happen, because of what others already said; character skeletal issues.
  9. Let me get this straight. If a sub refers an other sub, the referrer sub gets coins monthly, so for this, the referrer sub is depended on the referred sub to stay subbed. Likewise, if the referred sub then uses his/her referral link, he/she is depended on that referred sub to stay subbed and so on, endorsed by a system that gives a green light-go ahead message? And this all alongside referring new players to the game and getting preferred players to subscribe.. Seems to work as intended as some big party here really benefits from subscriptions.. hm that's a nice thing they got going. As spam goes, yeah offering bribes/lfg's/guildinvites etc. every other 30 seconds = spam and
  10. Funny how people bring practicality in to play as if this type of footwear (or any other 'stylish' garments) are bound by irl physics. Would they think about realism as they clip right trough the crowd of avatars surrounding the GTN to post their goods?
  11. Ironic How the Agent's iconic ability got Dirty Kicked.. I'm getting the impression Devs don't see SWTOR anymore, rather a unrendered, wireframe Star Wars themed game and tooltips. Kinda like I think 'hardcore' gamers look at these kinds of mmo's I myself like to whack mobs with the saber whenever I find myself in low level area's, if not to break the mandatory force rotation in group/ level appropriate content. As for not-draw-the-lightsaber, [Hood-toggle] says "back in line!"
  12. http://tor-fashion.com/kingpins-blaster/ looks suspiciously similar to http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/thumb/d/dd/Chronicletoy-CH02G1Megatron.jpg/300px-Chronicletoy-CH02G1Megatron.jpg
  13. I'm not a fan of an ability to change between classes. Changing from, say Powertech to Mercenary is not that different from changing from Gunslinger to Commando imo. I myself have only eight chars. Having a Scoundrel and Sniper gives me two distinct play styles. Having also a Gunslinger would, for me, be redundant. Story-wise and play-wise. Therefor I studied each class in http://www.swtor.com/holonet/classes before SWtOR came out. I made my decisions for what char, in witch faction, what species/gender, and their AC's based on what I read. I was well informed of the permanence of my choices. Now with this type of balancing I wonder if AC-changing is viable?
  14. I made a similar topic few days ago (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=778003) OP was Ofc, that thread is mainly about the question of what follows. The need for balancing does not stop with 3.0 and the 'new' way of balancing apparently seems to be by turning talents in to abilities and vice versa, then throw them across the entire class. Will AC switching (witch I oppose) become a option?
