  1. The apologists are out tonight, aren't they? I don't like how I have to wait so long for gems to come back so I can work on other things. It's ridiculous. Yes, I actually WOULD rather do it myself because if I just need one crystal, I can go farm it, make it, done, in far less time it takes for a companion to run out and do it for me. "Flooding the market"? OMG is this your first MMO?
  2. I've come back to the game after an extended break. I remembered one of the reasons why I left - crew skill mission times. Why in the world do they take so long? If you only have a few hours to play, you can only do a few per night, even if you send out more than one. It's counter-productive and frustrating to try and level your skills when most of your time is waiting for your crew to come back.
  3. OP has been playing games since the 70's. Nice try.
  4. Hi all, A lot of you have been supporting the Sith Heads podcast that Nicole and I have been doing for the last 32 weeks, since the time of early access. When we started the show, SWTOR was new and exciting and we thought the game was a complete winner. As time went on, around level 30, I found that the game started feeling quite empty. There was literally nobody around to do x4 quests with, and waiting around to do flashpoints was a complete waste of time. Even my guild (mostly made of other podcasters) started to have trouble finding guild groups for flashpoints. It became clear around level 40 that while the story was amazing and the voice acting was top notch, the game itself was quite empty. This was supposed to be a top-notch, AAA game. Biggest budget, biggest hype, biggest downfall. Back in the summer of 2011 when some of us were beta testing the game, we told Bioware - no, we SCREAMED at Bioware they their game had serious flaws. No group finder, nothing to do at 50, no factions to work on, no gear, no pets, no mounts, no FUN. The usual response was "it's beta", and we got very little feedback from Bioware about anything we were telling them. It was almost as if Bioware was arrogant about their product. Well, here we are a year later and the game has lost half their customers and gone free-to-play. What does that tell you? One thing I want to mention about the f2p news: EA said that in their exit interviews, 40% of the people said they didn't want to pay for the game. Why can't EA get it through their heads that the reason why people don't want to pay is because there's nothing to do? F2p is a band-aid. Put the content in and people would gladly pay it. I could go into the fine details of what went wrong with the game, but I won't because it's just going to be the same, tired arguments we've heard all along. There are some points I wanted to make, though: You got to 50 too fast I hate this cop-out statement. Bioware is filled (supposedly) with smart people. Why didn't they realize that people like myself were going to get to 50 within a month? And I wasn't even trying! AND I took a few days off. There is no excuse for not having level 50 content at launch. None. I'm not talking flashpoints or operations, I'm talking about fun things to do, those carrots on a stick. EQ2 and WoW and Rift have so many things to do in their games when you hit max level, mainly things you can go back and do. You can't compare the game to WoW This is slightly related to my above point - it's about content at max level. WoW, and other games, had far, far, far more content in their games than SWTOR ever did. It's the little things Here are some things which started to tick me off about the game: No group finder early on. Transportation was, by far, the biggest barrier in any game I've ever played. Crafting was pointless because you could get better gear at vendors. Ilum. I'll just leave that there. Uninspired landscapes. Specifically Hoth and Tatooine. Alderaan was gorgeous. Belsavis could have been better. The fleet areas were empty. The great thing about other games is that they were meeting hubs. The fleet on my server (Juyo) were so empty that you wouldn't hear anyone speak in general chat for literally 10 minutes. The voice acting was great, but after the umpteenth time of running Essels or Black Talon, or even dailies, you just wanted an option to turn the conversations OFF. The Legacy system. The fact that their end-game content was based on rolling alts was pathetic. I generally roll one alt - a healer class. That's it. No dual spec. I couldn't believe they didn't have dual spec in the game. This is a staple for anyone who wants to roll as a healer in a flashpoint and a dps in the world. Going to your trainer every time was not a good option. The bottom line was that the game wasn't fun anymore. It was time to stop. I beta tested Guild Wars 2 and am completely in love with it. I'm in the MoP beta and it's not all about pandas, there's a lot more to the game than that. I tried liking TSW but the combat system was janked, I didn't like it. I'm done with Tera. Unfortunately, I'm done with this game too. I wanted to thank the thousands of you that listened and sent feedback over the last 32 weeks. If you're a subscriber, don't unsub from the show because Nicole and I will be working on something new (not game related) and the first episode will be in the feed. I hope Bioware/EA gets their act together because it's a damn shame to see a Star Wars MMO with so much promise fall so hard. M
  5. EQ2 has an amazing day/night cycle, the best in any game because the sun and moons actually move.
  6. A game from 2004 is still going strong WITH subscriptions, and you just think it's people looking through ruby-colored glasses. In what parallel universe is this a problem?
  7. It's not a dream. People dropped their accounts temporarily because they didn't want to pay for content that isn't new, and they wait for MoP. So, it's not a dream.
  8. No, it should have had more to do from the start.
  9. And here starts the in-game snobbery.
  10. EQ2 is still my #2 favorite game behind WoW. So so so so much to do in that game. As said on Massively, EQ2 is like an onion, so many layers of awesome stuff to do. Yes, it does have its problems, but everyone should give it a shot.
  11. I call complete and utter BS on this post. You tried FIFTEEN MMOs since 1.2? Did you get all your toons to max level? No, you did not. One of the biggest problems with this game is lack of endgame content and you come here saying that SWTOR is awesome because you tried all these MMOs and they suck compared to SWTOR? Sorry, your credibility is completely shot.
  12. No, it is not. He's saying that some people already filled their 8 slots with 50s. Now you're completely misunderstanding the point that for some people that had NO KNOWLEDGE this would happen IN THE FUTURE, that this is THEIR problem? God damn, I hate people that crap on others when they had no foreknowledge of the future.
  13. Ok, and then what happens when people just don't want to? If most people don't bother getting HK-51, Bioware has a serious problem because EVERYONE should want it. You mention epic quests in EQ1. I did my Druid's epic quest. One character. ONE.
  14. Yes, and there's an HK in The False Emperor. Level 50. Granted it's HK-47, but still.
