  1. Took a break from the boredom of SWTOR endgame and came back.... Got my friend to re-sub as well... We always do class, story, etc. together....except for this new expansion. The companion changes are pure trash.... All those hours we spent getting gear for them and now it is piled up as junk and worthless. Companions are all-role with no way to enhance them? Because they were overpowered? We just attempted a quick Black Talon HM FP... both are geared basic 65 (I am basic and some high end pvp gear for lvl65). We couldn't even get the first boss down past half HP. Even with me healing and 2 healing companions and friend tanking... So.... with the scale downs in planets....and all these changes it looks like the solo introvert player like me (unless friend is on) is stuck with ****** dailies or forced to sit around and hope to get a group... My friend hasn't even been a re-sub for 3 days and she was like "*** did they do to this game?" She already said she won't be paying another month with all these changes. I as well am so let down by the changes that I lost my drive to do anything but the crap PvP. Way to go Devs..... nerf the dog**** out of companions and old content because we might be "too overpowered" and doing FP solo in hard mode? I've seen games go that route and they don't stay around long..... Been playing since before release but tired of getting back into the game and having to adjust to all these communist changes in a video game. I have more fun playing online poker and tetris on my phone than I have the last year with SWTOR. I'll be fine with downgrading to free2play or preferred... blah...
  2. Was having same issues.... Went back to Win7 (I had upgrade to 10 free and windows.old file was on HDD for 7). Eliminated that problem but as in my other post... Seems to be some serious PvP issues now that have come up with this week's updates. Last 3yrs has been such a fight with SWTOR to get it running at optimum compared to other games. Seems to ALWAYS be something new with this game that comes up and causes me to have to figure out what happened.... SWTOR is about the most high maint game I have owned in the last 5yrs lol.
  3. UPDATE: Just played 2 PVP matches - Both maps were elimination and played with Sniper. 0 ZERO damage. I could not get a single ability to work in every round so far today...Not even escape, shiv, anything. I literally clicked abilities even from cover and nothing happened. No animations...nothing. Yet everything was smooth around me and no actual lag. Took screen shots during last match. Server lag is between 29-36ms. Something is def up here... Switched to Marauder in PvP and no issues at all... I got a few whispers on Sniper asking me "*** no dmg for a Sniper?" lol. Have never had this issue...and I can't figure out what to do to be able to use my Sniper in PvP. Took Sniper into PvE and no issues at all..I am stumped here.
  4. Not sure if this is coincidence or something has really changed since the update starting 12/8..... I have only seemed to notice this in PvP.... I have made no changes to system or game settings but I usually run 25-33fps during combat in PvP with any class and usually only high settings at 1920x1200 resolution. Now, I am running between 9-16FPS!!! I have had the game since day 1 and on this same system (only upgrade has been RAM) and have never had frame rate issues in or out of PvP. PvP typically runs far lower on FPS but never drops below 25fps for me. The strange thing is, even at 9fps the game seems to run smooth in combat etc. I don't notice ANY choppiness etc. usually associated with a super low frame rate. The one thing have noticed is SEVERE ability lag. While everything around me is running normal, it takes anywhere from 2-3 seconds for my attacks, etc. to activate. They are delayed so badly that I often have no idea what's going on with my attacks and my "routine" in combat is messed up. I have lowered my resolution down 1680x1050 and dropped EVERYTHING to lowest settings and this made no difference on my FPS. Still 9-16FPS in PvP. Again, all of this has been since Tuesday. Not sure if anyone else has seen sudden drops or problems in PvP like this since updates?
  5. Been playing off and on since open beta days... I can honestly say SWTOR had a good grip on me when it launched and I enjoyed the story lines of the classes..... However, after that I lost the drive...found myself bored within an hour doing endgame... not even playing (even though I never cancelled) for months at a time.... only coming back to check out the new content... and getting bored with it after finishing new content within a week... So..... The new Fallen Empire expansion to me is a total flop. It seems to have pulled far away from that Star Wars feel of the game (which SWTOR never really had for some reason). With all the changes and nerfs... and the fact that I completed all the new content within one day and have found myself just sitting in fleet trying to decide what daily I want to run on what planet... And discovering that just about everything that isn't class or dailies now requires a group...the companions have lost their diversity (I have a ton of them now and they all seem the same to me) and then seeing that Chapter 10 is "coming soon" (Feb I hear)...I am once again land-locked with SWTOR. I have toughed it out for a few years hoping that it will break into its potential but it just seems like that will never happen. The game has become horribly linear again.... compressed.... boxed in.... New content is basically the same thing over and over with different bad guys.... No real innovation...and no staying power for me. So I'm letting my sub run itself out.... and prob going to give away my loot. It is time to search for another MMO that has staying power. In my opinion....no MMO can beat the City of Heroes/City of Villains mechanics.... SWTOR to me is WoW with lightsabers and voice overs.... I can officially say that SWTOR is a flop for the long term....
  6. Hell, I gamble more with cartel coins (even purchased a few with real $$) and the random contents of packs more than an in game Pazaak could ever offer. I could see where incorporating Pazaak into game COULD be online gambling if it weren't controlled.... But really....if the "betting" portion were removed and instead they "rewarded" matches won (maybe even based on skill or W/L of opponent) then I don't see where gambling plays in at all. It would simply be more of a PvP match at a virtual table rather than an arena?
  7. Exactly my point... It was fun when you were attempting an H2 on a planet and either didn't feel like grouping up...or no one was doing it. I do't see where an OP companion even in H4 with 2 players hurts anyone... It doesn't take anything away from anyone.... I mean.....so.... before the zone and companion nerfs people would send off companions to kill mobs.....So some would go do the H4 in Black Hole and herd up a few mobs and let their companion kill while they went and got a burger.... I just don't see where this takes away anything.... Nerfing was just a huge waste of resources in my opinion....
  8. Well, it was a thought..... More content is always good in any fashion. I was around for open beta and I can say half the suggestions never made it. When you talk interract with a logo and not with the devs...things usually don't get done until they see user activity drop. Back in the COH/COV days you had the Devs on the forums...and in the game playing... I can say of all the MMOs I have played....the SWTOR community is about the angriest, doom and gloom, negative bunch I have seen on forums. That reflects a lot of the failures this game has put out. As far as business for cantinas....I know troll bait when I smell it....but I'll bite. It means absolutely nothing.....was just making a reference to where they should put the side game....
  9. Took some time off from game for a few months waiting on the expansion (game just can't seem to hold me in very long when all there is to do is farm ops and dailies for gear.....to farm faster). Came back with a packed full inventory of companion gear..... Gear that no longer applies stats to my companions... I look at the hours upon hours and creds spent crafting for them.... and the hours spent on Yavin going after that elite gear....and now you are telling me you just changed it all? Really takes away from the diversity of your play in my opinion. I mean...a Heroic 2 can be solo'd? So what? Props to the player for grinding to get their companion geared up to do it!! I think the companion nerf was the cheapest way to fix the problem.... Overpowered companions or underpowered game play? Seems easier to nerf the companions and player stats in a given zone, etc. than have to beef up the zones. Now I feel I wasted a ton of time and left with an arsenal of "legacy leftovers" I can't even strip down to use on my character. So now only your character is able to be upgraded? That's boring..... and bottlenecks the game even more into "We all are the same thing....we just look different" approach. 2 thumbs down on that one.... I give it another week or so before I get bored with SWTOR again....I sure do miss City of Heroes....
  10. I agree that companions need more tasks. 2 of my companions have already become alcoholics and one is pregnant. Too much free time doing the basic tasks.... It would also be nice to have some specific "solo" flashpoints or daily missions where you can take along a team of companions that in someway applies to the story line. Gives you that "all in" feel to the game.
  11. Doooo eeeeeet!! Bring more business to the cantinas
  12. How about....... realizing that BW is a big daddy company and actually dedicating better resources to this game? I don't know *** you guys did with the whole patching and downloading deal (did you guys go cloud based servers and networks to save some money or what??) but I actually got 2 friends today to FINALLY get the game and play with me... I also put a new HDD in and all 3 of us have been downloading this 30gb monster since...... 12pm CST.. It is now 8:40pm CST and we are at 75-80%... Why don't you let Steam manage this? (joking but....well...actually...) All 3 of us are capped at a 1024mb/sec downstream that bounces between 512kb. I actually logged into their routers to assign some static IP and some other tweaks just to see and no change... I transferred my game files from another PC and actually went to their homes and copied to their SWTOR folders after doing mine just to eliminate the main DL....but this update is STILL creeping along. Get your rears in gear man.... You can't maintain a mass user base like this without putting more money into it.....retaining new subs is going to be real hard when you present a full day of downloads as the first step. I have been with this game since day 1 and have seen this gradually drop in quality over time. end rant.... so many 3rd and 4th party companies getting their paws into network management when they have no business touching the stuff.... That's what it looks like you guys did here.... Seeing that I am on that end of it for 15yrs and self-employed doing it.... I have read so many complaints on this issue with SWTOR that there is enough grief to actually do something about it.
  13. Well, good news is the transfer worked perfect. It picked up on the expansion download right where it was left off on the other PC. So really.... downloading the installer first so it registers and then copying your backup into the folder eliminates the whole DL minus updates. Saved me a long ordeal. Yea, I can't seem to remember where I put my SWTOR box.... That was like 2011 or something so it would have a lot to go.
  14. I'm headed home now and have SWTOR on my Tower (minus the expansion). Going to copy over the folder and let the repair do the rest. If it works..... and I don't see why not, I would suggest people copy the SWTOR folder to a backup for later. Still might take a bit for the transfer and repair...but it beats spending half a day downloading...
  15. I know this thread is old but I'm sure some people are still looking....and this is the first item that pops up when Googling "faster dl speeds for SWTOR" I tried the above with no luck. I am on a job here at a retail store (I am a network engineer) and just happened to be turning up a new T1, router and switch... Earlier this morning I had to put in a new SSD/HDD in my M17x and decided to bring it with me to download the now 25GB SWTOR game. So.... even after opening a port in the switch here (same port tested at 62mb/sec down and 19up) and plugging the Alienware in....then changing the P2P setting... I am capped at no more than 1024mb down and it bounces between 512kb and 1024mb every second. Obviously not relying on user ISP bandwidth....(unless you still have AOL and got a 56k from a museum) Those who were blazing the speeds must have had a lucky break back then before they merged the servers.. Game was much faster on DL and loading before they combined the servers. Either way.....I'm stuck with a looooooong DL process....and this time I plan to simply move all the folders to a backup drive....and just let the auto-repair do the registry fix and updates for me if I have to wipe a drive again.
