  1. Hey guys new player I’ve started the gear grind and am at 300 with the aggravating energies utility. I’ve have some questions regarding where to go from here. 1. Since lvl 1 I’ve played marksman and like the rotation. I’ve steered clear of ops because I want to be geared / useful before I participate. Or at least have my set bonus. I’ve been looking through guides which suggest outside of a few select ops virulence is always preferred. Do marksman get kicked out for that? Or is a single marksman warranted for penetrating blasts debuff? It seems for the majority of flashpoint play burst damage is preferred as outside of bosses you can take down bad guys quick and I’m curious if the damage gap is super huge. I also prefer to know why something works better rather than just a guide telling me it does. 2. When playing marksman I never have an energy issue unless spamming suppressive fire. Guides suggest acquiring the entrenched sniper set. One of its main things is the reduced entrench / extra energy gain but energy is never a problem. How does the 5 stacks of damage work do they just accrue each time you shoot? So 5 shots in and you’re at 15% damage while entrenched? I make deliberate use of both laze and acquire targeting and found the precise targeter set interesting for reducing cooldowns / making stacks of those. But I guess the 15% damage boost from entrenched is pretty substantial and enough to outweigh the benefits of the precise targeter set? 3. At roughly how much time on target does virulence bear out the burst damage of marksman? Thanks for the help I do enjoy the rotation of marksman and just want to see if it’s viable for the long term. I haven’t dabbled in pvp but it seems there’s a consensus snipers in general are bad for pvp. I’ll be spending those tech shards soon and don’t want as much knowledge on the subject before I start spending.
  2. I see guides suggesting agitating energies (I tend to burst single target) but is there a case for overwhelming energies? Or does the extra damage tick equate to more damage compared to 5% overall damage? Thanks!
  3. Make sure to arrive at the entrance by 1.5 hrs before park open. People are crazy about doing the star wars ride and I suspect this summer will be no different with the virtual cue filling completely moments after the park opens. At the droid works you can buy a “life size” metal credit chip that functions as a Disney gift card. You have to put at least $100 on the gift card to get it but it’s essentially free since you’ll use that money in the parks for food and what not. If you can’t get reservations for Olga’s Cantina (which they somehow allow kids inside even though it’s a bar) you can usually hang around outside and say some witty line about how you’re wanted in ord mantel and couldn’t give away your location or whatever. Depending on your party size they will let you inside anyways. The fuzzy tauntaun is a must. Also the blue milk here is different and tastier than what’s offered outside. But the cantina is definitely a must see.
  4. Thanks for the input! I definitely do enjoy the rotation for MM and don’t plan too much for pvp. Is it still viable for ops? Also, their penetrating shots apply a 20% armor reduction debuff while I don’t see such a debuff on virulence. Is there any evidence that though MM has less dpr than virulence that it could contribute to more overall damage against a single target?
  5. I’m a new sub too so you guys are saying to max your conquest bonus you need just one stronghold but with all the rooms unlocked? Decorations don’t matter?
  6. Do you know if math has been run to know how much time on target it takes for virulence to surpass MM? So far most enemies have gone down quickly but we are still in the main story. I’m definitely in agreement that virulence is better for ops but maybe MM is faster for normal missions / flash points?
  7. I’m a new subscriber to the game at lvl 58 atm. Sniper guides / forums all state that virulence is higher dps than a MM. I’m sure I’m wrong but looking through the numbers I’m not seeing how? Is it because most damage gets resisted or something? I’ve figured out the rotation with MM making generous use of followthrough. Looking at virulence it seems to do less damage spread out over time as opposed to MM hitting all at once. Can someone explain what I’m missing is there like a set bonus that pushes virulence over the top? Also, I haven’t played virulence but does the poison damage spread and cause aggro? I’ve been playing with my friend who is a jug tank and MM has been great for aggro management since I stick to single target damage unless fighting a bunch of ads that easily die to suppressive fire anyways. Thanks!
  8. But couldn’t I just purchase all the augments on the GTN? From what I’m reading it seems biochem is the only crew skill with an exclusive “perk” (cooldown meds / stims).
  9. Hello everyone new player here! I started with cybertech and have it up to 280 but after doing some research it appears there isn’t a reason to craft cybertech since you can purchase better mods / enhancements from vendors... the exception being grenades which you could purchase on the GTN. I’m debating switching to Biotech for the cooldown meds / stims. As far as I can tell is this the only “exclusive” crafting ability? I have people suggesting synthweave would be better for the critical armor augments but couldn’t I just buy those on the GTN? I’m a bit of an optimizer and though I plan to play mainly PvE I still want the most optimized gear. So my question is can I go Biotech for the cooldown stims then just purchase all the other required crafter gear? Or is there another reason to stick with a different craft? Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the replies! I’m not familiar with augments from synth weave aren’t those available for purchase as well? I was mainly thinking biochem for cooldown damage boosting stims... is that a thing lol? I figured consumables would be more sellable on the GTN and the damage boost from the stim would be better than an augment?
  11. Hello everyone I’m about two weeks new to SWTOR after getting my start wars itch and loving it. I picked up Cybertech with the appropriate supporting skills and am at about 280 with each. I started doing research and it seems there is no point to advancing Cybertech? What I am reading suggests that past 600 you can purchase the best mods / enhancements. It’s only good for grenades and I’m not planning on PvP. This being my first character (a sniper) I plan on keeping them through all the endgame content as my main. I was wondering should I switch to Biotech now and just cut my losses so I can benefit from the 600+ biotech options / selling biotech consumables? Thanks!
