  1. Okay, so. I just recently returned after being away since just about the time that KotFE was sending us off to recruit Kaliyo. So, yeah, it's been a while. I quit when they talked about not having any new Operations or proper expansions for a while. But, after hearing that they've managed to put together a whole new Operation, all at once!, I decided to give it another shot, so I signed back up to play catch-up while waiting for the new expansion in September. Right off the bat, I'm enjoying the simplified game menus, though it does take a while to get used to them. I enjoy the whole Command Crates thing. It's like a game-based version of Cartel Packs. Of course, I'm getting them left and right by doing the simplest of content and I'm only Command rank 20 or something. I hear that 300 is what people are shooting for? lol yeah, I'm not doing that. But, it's nice to open a few packs after doing some stuff. I enjoy the fact that even the simplest of role-neutral content can be difficult if you're not careful. Other games make their content face-roll easy and that gets boring pretty quickly. I'm a bit surprised at the price on the GTN for most products. I'm guessing that the credit super-inflation has at least stabilized, even if they can't seem to fix it. I like the fact that I'm not required to run through 16 load screens to get to where I need to go, anymore. Even doing Heroics on scattered worlds just means clicking the transport button, rather than go through a ton of flight time. I like the whole Dark vs Light thing that's constantly going on. I do think that the rewards on the Dark/Light vendors needs to be updated somewhat. The gear sets are a bit drab and the pets/mounts don't really work for me. I haven't had a chance to do Operations, but I hear that gear is, once again, directly gained through doing that content? Lastly, I have a question. I'm currently 230 after doing some simple nonsense and using Command Tokens to buy what I need from the Tier 1 Vendor. Where do I go next for better gear? Straight up pugging Ops?
  2. Sorry, I've just returned this week. How does one jump to Iokath, past the Kotet/fe nonsense?
  3. I left the game...some years ago, right about the time they started talking about how Operations and the whole Sith vs Jedi thing was tired and old and hey, let's do this other thing instead! So, I quit. Now, I hear that they're doing an expansion with a whole new Operation and getting back to the Jedi vs Sith thing. And so, I came back to try it out. Anything good worth doing right now while we're waiting for September and the new expansion?
  4. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this got shifted over to 'Off-Topic' even though my topic is SWTOR and why it's no longer appealing to me. Had this been an ode to SWTOR's virtues and charms, it wouldn't have been shifted off this Forum's busiest board to somewhere out of sight and out of mind. But, whatever. Your board, your rules. I can't believe I defended you guys for so long.
  5. I debated with myself pretty long and hard about posting one of 'those' posts. You know the kind I'm talking about. The "I'm quitting and this is why" dissertation posts. Thing is, I'm still pretty sure that it's a waste of time doing this as I'm not going to be changing anyone's mind and it'll just be dismissed out of hand by most of those who are happy with the state of the game right now. I know this because until November 2015, I was one of those happy customers. When Knights of the Fallen Empire was announced, I was blown away. A new return to story telling? New companions? New worlds, monthly content updates? Hell yeah, sign me up! I was so excited, in fact, that I barely noticed their thing about not having any Operations or Flash Points in FE. I gave them a pass on that when it came up. Sure, FE stuff will take lots of time, story is paramount! Plus, I haven't done EV at level cap in ages. Surely, all those OPs and Flash Points at level cap will be entertaining for a while, surely it'll be okay until they can get a new Operation or two in place in 2016. I mean, come on! Story is back! And the story 'was' good. It really was. Really 'is' good. It was somewhere around my second playthrough that it started sinking in. Despite playing a Lightside Sith Warrior, there was little to no difference between that story playthrough and my Darkside Sith Sorc. It was literally the same questions, the same dilemmas, the same outcomes. Then I heard that romances were messed up and I shelved my remaining alts because it's 'that' important to me. I ground out my Alliance specialists to 20....and was appalled at the idea of doing it again another 5-8 times on my alts. I found out why I hadn't bothered doing EV and KP and EC in the last few years. The story is outdated, the fights are still bugged, loot doesn't drop right and they're godddamned boring. Not bad, but I know them like the back of my hand. I can do them without focusing, without tension, without trying hard. I got more excitement out of trying to do Star Fortress achievements solo! Flash Points were the same. Fighting fights we'd done 4 years ago with the same problematic bugs that were there 4 years ago. And again, fights that I know like the back of my hand and can do in my sleep. No excitement, no tension, no struggle to learn new mechanics, new strategies, new tricks. It's just...do the thing, kill the bosses, get loot and crystals. yay. woo. And it's not just OPs and FPs. PVPers have been doing the same maps and warzones for years. And now FE engame is basically grinding out 1.0 Planetary Heroics that literally make NO SENSE in relation to the story. We're now working with the Jedi and the Alliance, so go kill lots of Jedi and the Alliance for war supplies. Now, don't get me wrong. I get it. Lots of new and returning players haven't done most of this content. That's their point. But, the majority of your existing playerbase have done this stuff for the last 4 years and it's not okay to ask us to do it for another year. This is how I see it: SWTOR as a bar. It's run down, lost money the last few years, but it's got a nice solid core of consistent steady reliable customers who show up and spend their money there. And they stick around through good times and bad, spending more than their fair share, even paying the door fee even after the management decide to let everyone in for free. They buy drinks and food and honestly give a damn about the bar's continued existence. And then the bar's management decides to upgrade the bar. Things are changed, things are added and, most importantly, the bar's management is focused on getting in all new people without much consideration for the crowd that kept them going during lean times. In short, the loyal customers are no longer as important to the bar's management as the influx of new customers. But, the bar's management clearly expects that old crowd to stick around even though they have little to no reason to do so. But here's the thing: Loyalty only lasts so long when it's just a one-way thing. And telling us that there's nothing for us for the year 2016 is pretty much stating that our needs aren't a priority. I think I got about a week left on my subscription. Something like that. But, this'll be my last post on these forums, barring a really good conversation in this thread I'm starting. I may be back when new Operations and Flash Points are made, but I honestly don't know if that's a guarantee now. So yeah. It was fun while it lasted. And I'm not mad so much as disappointed and wistful about what the game might have been if they'd just spent a bit more time and effort and money on it. But, I guess that was never the plan. Either way, those of you that are still here from the earlier years....you know who you are...This is me, officially giving up. Bioware, using the Star Wars brand, somehow managed to lose me, one of the biggest Star Wars geeks ever, as a customer because it forgot that an MMO should not be focused on single-player content at the expense of the group content. So long and thanks for all the fish.
  6. I thought it was abundantly clear by now that they don't care about NiM raiders. Hell, at this point, they don't care about Raiders at all, NiM or otherwise.
  7. I'd be happy with a new Operation every six months. Maybe 2-3 new Flash Points. A new Planet with daily quests for new rep. Some combination of the above. When they said that they weren't even in a 'planning stage' for new Operations, that utterly gutpunched me and destroyed what hope I had left for The Old Republic. We're not going to see a new OP until some time in 2017. We're gonna have a new President before we get a new Operation.
  8. Can I simply say that having the game developers come 'here' and ask 'us' what we think the gear rewards should be comes across as one of two things. One, it can come across as them simply having no idea of which way to go with this thing. That they are utterly without direction or focus and can't devise simple things like loot reward levels without guidance from the people least suited to decide such things. Two, it comes across as pandering and disingenuous. As in, they already have things lined out, but they want to give the impression that our opinions matter. Which is obviously not the case. Give us new Operations, Flash Points, Daily zones with new Daily quests and new reputations to grind out doing stuff in new places. This whole 'grind out 1.0 Planetary Heroics' is NOT an acceptable version of end-game. Recycled Operations and Flash Points are not acceptable. You need to wake up and remember that this is an MMO before you turn around and find the bulk of your players gone.
  9. Even more words. It'd have been simpler and quicker to say "I want better rewards for doing harder content."
  10. Why would we even need to do new augments? We don't have anything that requires that sort of investment.
  11. Well, that pretty much decided it for me. I got 14 days left on my sub and zero reason to log back in. I'll probably be back when the Developers remember that SWTOR is an MMO with group activities.
  12. Lots of words in here. Let me simplify things for you. Not enough challenge while leveling? Dismiss your companion. Still not challenging enough? Take off your chest piece, put it in your bags. Try combat again. If combat is still too easy, remove another piece of gear. Repeat process until you're at a good point where combat is challenging enough for you. The good news is you can do this right now and requires no developer time/effort.
  13. It's almost as if someone in SWTOR doesn't want my money or my business. anyone paying attention to my posts over the last couple of months can tell you that I'm not currently happy with the current game set up. Plenty there for me to get irritated over and as a result, I haven't played since early November. That said, I just got an email telling me that they're so happy that I'm a paying customer that I'm getting my complimentary cartel coin stipend. And that it was being lowered from 600 Cartel Coins to 525 Cartel coins. Gee, thanks. "Screwed up, this is."
