  1. In addition recent testing has revealed that having a high crit rating makes it impossible to trigger shields as well. Basically... you can't shield crits. This is still being tested.
  2. I find the biggest issue is I can keep the tanking stats on my gear and switch to a rage aoe spec... and doe 3x damage AND be just as durable. The stats don't matter nearly enough and you don't get enough to make tanking worth it in pvp. Quite simply, use the smash crit spec in pvp in soresu. If you have your tanking gear on and aren't using the tanking tree you lost 4% survivability for nearly a 2-3x damage increase. The stats, quite simply, don't do enough.
  3. Well we need a ton of set up to make those numbers. First we need 4 ticks of force choke and/or crush. Then we need to leap or obliterate something. Then we use that move. To get insane numbers we need relics, stims, adrenals, and more.
  4. I wasn't even aware of the set bonus. Good god it's even worse than I wrote about.
  5. I'm aware of that issue but does the debuff to prevent you placing another shield on yourself start right after you cast the shield on yourself, or when the shield pops from taking too much damage/wears off?
  6. I believe the debuff precenting you from casting the shield again on yourself begins when the shield pops. I'm not positive, can someone confirm?
  7. Honestly LordSenaj made some good points. I managed to finish reading this earlier today. I actually think the system is as intended and shields perform their intended function along with the dodge stat. The damage that needs to hit always hits, it's actually quite a smart design. I think the real problem after doing a lot more testing lies with two things... 1. Surge scales far too well. Crits shouldn't be hitting where they are. 2. Shield stats and the dodge stat should block the same things they do now but scale much higher. As it stands, for example, the crit relic can double your damage output while the defensive ones increase your potential mitigation by less than 8%. Honestly I rather like the system the more I look at it. All of your "OOMPH" attacks will always hit. I just think the defensive stats aren't mitigating nearly enough compared to the interaction between power and surge. The fact still stands, however, that shield rating/absorbtion and defense rating aren't doing enough. The ratio's that determine their affected percentages should be scaled up. I'm not sure how much but it needs to be up'd. This also doesn't fix the fact that the tanking trees are designed in a moronic fashion and there are quite a bit of bugs on our talents. Like needing to be stationary to cast choke even after getting the non-channel perk when using the defensive set bonus. Or how crash, that stuns the opponent when leaping is HUGELY negative in pvp because it gives them half a resolve bar and the stun isn't usable (the base move roots and interrupts anyways too...) My original post was written from the perspective of a Jugg as well. What are your thoughts on my new conclusions?
  8. That difference is purely from the armor bonus from soresu... which works quite well in my opinion.
  9. Good lord. I was just rereading your quote from that insane old thread. I finally figured it out. He thinks the blade comes out of the hilt and wants to capture it with a "light box" to make it useless. He didn't understand it was made of energy and constantly generating. He was thinking of a counter to a lightsaber in idiot terms. I'd just use a shotgun... Insightful...
  10. That's crazy talk! Next we'll be calling Operatives the best tanks because a good offense is the best defense!
  11. I called my math because while the percentage on the average max stat shield chance was right reducing the 10% to 5% wouldn't be correct. Because I'd have to do relational statistics to determine average rotations and average class encounters. But that still stands that shields absorb for Juggernauts at max champion gear... a meager 10% of weapon attacks. Your numbers had that at 15%. Not much of a difference especially if you play a powertech. Also you never mentioned your class as far as I can tell. Or what you're using to achieve those numbers. I'm not sure that you're trolling but at this point I'm going to assume you're ignorant. See, we can all take condescending tones here. But seriously, information on your class/spec/usage.
  12. Those numbers add up to an average of 15% damage reduction against weapon damage attacks. Not so far off from me. Are you a juggernaut? Or a powertech? Or even an assassin? I'm a Juggernaut. Are you popping relics? Details please. I'm here to make a claim and get accurate information and discourse. Not "teh tankz r teh finez" and "[internet meme quote] I don't agree with you, here's no information why". Please, details.
  13. Nitpicking. I was replying to someone that was referring to a Juggernaut spec'd dps. You can't achieve 200k+ damage whatsoever as a Juggernaut spec'd tank in tank gear unless you're farming damage.
