  1. Hi guys, returning to my Commando after a long time of hiatus. As far as I am reading, when it comes to PvE and you are not speccing into Assault you are doing it wrong (at least that is what most of the guides and a quick glance at TORparse suggests). Is this really so and would I be gimping myself if I go for Gunnery? Is there a huge margin between those speccs, or are we talking 100 DPS and the "OMG GUNNERY IS TEH SUCK" is more of an elitist thing? Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi everyone, As a coming back player I decided to start a Republic char on the Red Eclipse (it's the highest population of all EU servers right? ) My question is, what role and and subsequently class is in high demand? I don't mind playing everything, but I don't want to be stuck in the situation where I am the 25th ranged DD when everybody is looking for a healer. I intend to make heavy use of the Lfg tool, so short queue times are a plus. Any answers are much appreciated. Cheers
  3. Hi everyone, first to start with I really want to like the starfigther game, I really do. BUT in my opinion the current implementation is nothing more then a glorified minigame, with a sh*tload of bug/flaws in it. First of the so called "customization", I really hoped for more then just the option of "chose between 5 and 6 km range" and some different move on the engine side. The crewselection is nice, however in the end it is neglectible, which I am coming to now. The controls are like an early 2000 space shooter and are far from accurate. The lack of mouse options for starfighter is appaling in my opinion. 2003s Freelancer had vastly superior controls and mechanics, when it comes to space combat. Now why do I say that customization does not matter much, well because in the end it all comes down to clusterfights anyway. There are no 1on1 situations, but you just have to be lucky that nobody gets you into his tager when pressing "tab". 1 on 1situations are also not very interesting, since (assuming both pilots have equal skill) they end in an endless circle around each other, without anybody getting any proper shots of. This brings me to the lack of gear for the fighters, easpecially some misc gear like a mine that can be dropped and has an activation radius of 500m or so. And also stuff that actually lets you get an edge when properly used in a 1on1 scenario. Think of the EvE only ECM section, one could easily have copied some of those concepts. I really had hopes for more diversity, that lets the player chose his style of engagement like: - brawler (which now is pretty much everbody apart from the LOLgunboats) - range missle boat - long range (yeah kinda with the gunboat I know) - supporter (disabling other ships or breaking sensor locks) - healer? (something like shield regen for ships in range or the likes) ATM it seems as the topic states like a glorified minigame, which is decided by who has the fewer mouthbreathers in their team that are more after "amagad imma firing mah laz0rs LOL" and more of the "oh lets take the non defended point" Sorry if I sound bitter, but I am really dissappointed with how this "content patch" (really?) turned out, because I can not see loads of ppl doing this regularly in 2 month time, apart for the daily and weekly quests, since the homogenization is too strong in this one.
  4. Hi, so when I press "H" and configure my ship I can chose from different crew members, which then should bring different passive and active skills with them. However even when I select a certain crewmember, the active ability is not in my hotbar during space combat. AM I missing something?
