  1. The moddable armor is way WAY too much of a chore to fulfill this option. I can barely do it even playing several characters to keep the mods current and that is with knowing how to game the system and playing too much. There's no way any casual player will ever make the modifiable armor work as is. For all the bad things this game shamelessly took from WoW, dear god I wish they had fallen a little closer to the tree on appearance tabs from other grade-A titles. On top of that, I find armor that I never see orange versions of and I sigh and wish for a simple, sensible system that didn't suck.
  2. DCUO, lotro, rift, aion etc. Pretty much everyone else does it right. The influence here, as I mentioned, is asian PVP titles. The devs have this idea that they are going to sell swtor to the asian market, where they strongly prefer "identify by silhouette" style avatars. That's why we're straddled with these extremely limited appearance options. That's my theory anyhow and I'm sticking with it.
  3. Custom gear doesn't work for this purpose. That's a crazy high labor way to go about it. The simplest systems are to have appearance slots (best of breed solution) or alernately alter the appearance of items. Don't expect to see that in swtor anytime soon though. The developers have some crazy fantasy that they can make this game appeal to asians, hence the one-weapon-per-class and the limited appearance options.
  4. It tells a story. Not a bad one either. Homosexual flirt options dont' tell a story, so much as they tip a hand.
  5. It's a little tiresome to me that the character faces in the game all appear to be early 20s babyfaces. Some appear even younger than that. The NPCs have age faces. It's really unfortunate that the character appearance options are so limited.
  6. You've realized by now that this isn't swg. It's got an even more narrow progression than WOW. It was designed by single player designers, and we're led by the nose through a one-way passage of story progression.
  7. It can't save it - you can't execute a bounty on the massive safe zones of the space undercities.
  8. No, all this awkwardness is going to remain until they are pressured to do something about subscriber loss. We're in the honeymoon of hubris now.
  9. I'm over 30, and I'm incorrigibly immature. You're going to have to find a different metric.
  10. I've been playing duo with my wife, so we pace ourselves to match one another. That said, we're both almost 50 with our mains, and we have other characters which we may play the storylines on. From what I see - once I hit 50, the game is an immature version of wow's end game. Less well thought out stats, some pvp methodoligies that wow has abandoned (expertise, etc.), and grind gameplay to gear up for - grind gameplay. I understand the medal/gear grind idea, I mean we did play WoW, but it is what it is. With the game being what it is, I don't really see playing my main after it hits 50. My reasons would be - - Game doesn't encourage or accomodate roleplay - No lateral gameplay (none, at all) - Lack of interest-refreshing options - Lack of appearance customization Lateral gameplay means "things to do other than advance that are amusing". Interest-refreshing options are 'things that open up after you have mastered something which remove tedium or give alternate ways to play the same thing. I understand this isn't everyone's bag of bees, but after playing rift / lotro, the lack of appearance slots is just subpar to me. I like to be able to switch out various gear to make a look, or change a look. That helps keep me happy. I would also like the option of using different weapons, to be able to give myself a personal flair. Again, I am sure not everyone feels the same way but the combination of the arbitrary rule that one class uses one weapon, and the limited appearances - really is a pretty significant turnoff, especially in a game with no lateral gameplay. So, that's our feedback. We certainly enjoy the stories, and may play more characters once these are done but I don't see end game holding our interest.
  11. you are teh master troll. Just buy two copies, and you can feel better about yourself.
  12. It's probably been said - I can't be f'ed to read this topic, but if not for huttbal imps would never queue ever.
  13. I'm a little tired of the overrrepresentation of this kind of thing in video games. Flirting with same sex is while accepted, still an issue of some controversy in our own society. I dislike the agenda that's being pushed here that suggest that in star wars, every npc and companion accepts advances from everyone. It's a little sickeningly PC that there would not be a fair counter representation of NPCs who find that behaviour objectionable. The whole "To be fair every npc must be bisexual so that when I am a dude playing a chick I can have my lesbian fantasies", which is clearly the majority opinion, and even the minority opinion. This is just not at all what I hope is being put forward as content expansion in games, and I dislike the feeling of bullying that's coming from the very vocal subset who seems obsessed by this.
  14. And the same controlling personalities come out, speaking out against letting other people enjoy themselves. This is sort of the gaming equivalent to kids who only want toys other children are playing with. For those of us who pvp, dual spec is not a luxury, it's a necessity. The skills we use in pvp are not the same ones we need for pve. bw doesn't really have an option other than to accomodate that.
  15. especially for "underworld trading", it's broken and not playable or reasonable. with 351 underworld trading, a typical mission 'roll' screen for tier 3 will be : 4 companion gifts, one abundant fabric 3 companion gifts, one fabric, one moderate metal 4 gifts, one moderate metal In 8 screens I've seen one abundant metal. This is a broken pointless hassle.
