  1. I agree on everything mainly, I just don't understand all the desire to pick a server. There is a west coast and east coast PvP server. There's nothing to decide besides which you prefer better for ping or other reasons. The only next step is to organize guilds like you said. Going to Harb or RP is a waste of time because not all PvP'rs will transfer to those, both for OW-PvP and staying away from RP'rs. At the end of the day only so many people come to the forums, you need to recruit ranked players from the genpop, and that can only seriously be done on regular PvP servers
  2. I intend to say that Europeans don't get great ping to West Coast servers while Oceania/Asia don't get great ping to East Coast servers. Within the US I agree it's marginal.
  3. So you guys used a poll where anyone can vote multiple times to decide where to switch? Seems legit. Fact of the matter is, West and East coast will never truly merge into one, people on each side of the US can't play on anything but the near coast without massive ping.
  4. Absolutely not an issue and this should be encourage more
  5. +1 to a Valor level being tied to acquiring old cosmetic PvP Armors that are empty with no mods.
  6. There are too many other issues with matchmaking that disabling tank stance will not solve anything, just make it worse.
  7. In terms of the thread topic. I think this is overthought: Don't let someone Q for another warzone until the one they've left has finished. This simultaneously encourages them to just stay for the duration - they can't play another one until it's done anyways, and doesn't penalize anyone beyond a 10 minute or so period. Let them go on another character, that's their prerogative. If someone is so determined to leave, nothing will stop them. Message should pop up saying - do you want to rejoin the warzone? Yes, otherwise stay in Q for the next one when the current is finished. Allow people to rejoin warzones. This also solves the real problem of someone crashing midmatch. Sure, they miss out on a couple minutes, but at least they get to come back if backfill hasn't found a replacement.
  8. People who quit when facing premades - you should reevaluate the type of game you enjoy playing and/or make your own premade. That is not a complaint you can make and consider yourself a reasonable person. This List is why PvP doesn't get much love from the devs. These attitudes are toxic and ruin the PvP environment and Q system. The game is not perfect, but this specific list of items is laughable. I will never be back-filled, win or lose. All teams will at all times be balanced including gear. At the most I will only DC or crash once per week. I will not face a premade unless my own team have a premade. I can prioritize what warzones I prefer or deselect at least one warzone. None of these guarantees would improve Warzones. 1-People will always DC, can't stop that. Backfill is required to not ruin the game for 15 other people... 2-There will always be gear progression, with the 3.3 upcoming changes this will be trivially easy. 3-You're the only one in control of your own disconnects 4-See above about premades. This is a social game, try to enjoy it man. 5-Will never happen, unless you want even slower Q's.
  9. Multiple rounds, 3 minutes inbetween rounds, random generated double elimination, somewhere where space doesnt limit ability, and is equal for ranged and melee alike. All skills/abilities legal but disallowing stealth for X time without attacking, and disallowing stealth classes from leaving combat with the sole intention of healing to full. Round time limit, where after X time, the person who did more damage wins. However this takes an inordinate amount of time and resources and active/intelligent/opinionated refereeing. so concessions are inevitably made as you are currently aware/experiencing. At the end of the day, just don't let others prevent you from hosting a tournament. If you and your buds enjoy your rules and time spent dueling, that's all that matters.
  10. "If you can't win without a specific cooldown being up then you really aren't that great of a PvPer." The point of a 1v1 tournament is to have a balanced ruleset, as it is a competition. So the ruleset should try to be as balanced as possible. Disallowing cooldowns imbalances individual rounds in favor of "overall" balance. But this overall balance isn't any more balanced then allowing people to wait for cd's to reset. Not waiting for cd's usually means the reason a duel was won was due to time, and not skill. Tournaments are about skill. Warzones are about fun. "Limiting cooldowns leads to a more strategic and well thought out fight" No, it changes the nature of the tournament and 1v1 completely. Why don't you just have this 1v1 inside of warzones, since that's basically what you're trying to emulate? Warzones are about chaos, randomness mixed with skill, and winning as a team. Tournaments are about none of those things except skill. "I saw a lot of sorcs that won ONLY because they had their force barrier off cooldown every single round. What makes an OP class OP can commonly be traced back to cooldowns. By limiting cooldowns it gives some currently underpowered classes a bit of a fighting chance." Either a cooldown is overpowered and should be banned, or it should be allowed, or it's behavior limited by ruleset due to 1v1's not being representative of how the classes were designed and balanced for group combat. "This is one thing I won't negotiate on." Cool, your tournament, your rules "BioWare has done a terrible job of ensuring classes are balanced in a 1v1 scenario and this is one of the best precautions we can take against class imbalance." Actually this is probably one of the worst things you could do to be honest. Balance is not created by introducing randomness, artificial non-combat time pressure, or punishing a player for using an ability towards the end of the fight to get a killing blow. Winning one round in one way should not mean you lose the next round by default... "You ever stop in a warzone and ask your opponents, "Hey wait up bro, I'm waiting on my cooldowns"?" OK, so this is a warzone duel tournament, not a 1v1 then, that's what I thought? 1v1 != warzone environment. See above. There really is nothing wrong about this, as long as you don't try to crown a 1v1 champion "I understand that some people feel allowing stealth causes an imbalance. I do agree that it causes AN imbalance, but I don't believe it makes the match itself imbalanced." There isn't really a nice way to say this, but please don't take it as an insult. I'm sorry, you're wrong. This might seem contradictory to what I've said above, but think of it this way: when you're playing a story mission and you're fighting a boss, and you cloak to stealth and remove yourself from combat... the boss resets and goes immediately to full health. The game accepts this, it lets you disengage from combat, but says the fight is over and come back when you're ready to play. In a 1v1 pvp scenario I think there are strong parallels here. You can't disallow stealthing because it's so ingrained in the class, but you can't allow stealthing forever or stealth and healing to full either. It's the single instance of something being so broken and so overpowered it shouldn't be allowed in a 1v1 skill based tournament. The reason this is overpowered isn't because they heal to full, it's because they've essentially disengaged from combat completely to do so. This type of ability is a group benefit and completely breaks 1v1 balance. It was designed for warzones, open world chaos as a group utility. "I understand that it's frustrating to fight a stealther just to have them stun you, stealth out, and heal to full." It might make you feel better to say this, but it doesn't change facts. "As it stands now, the "main event" will be open to whoever makes it that far, stealth or otherwise." As it stands now, without limitations in the ruleset, the game stacks the deck in favor of stealth for a true 1v1, period. Player skill considered equal, a stealth class is superior in a 1v1 duel because there are no limits on healing while stealthed since you can effectively leave combat. There's a reason every major 1v1 tourny held in this game is won by stealth. All that said, I applaud you for hosting a 1v1. Thanks for volunteering time to organize it. You're taking what bioware has made available and are doing the best with it, to the best of your abilities. I wish 1v1's occurred on all servers on a regular cadence because they're fun and enjoyable, despite how imperfect they are balance wise. I'd participate, but I'm not on that server. I wish you the best and hope lots of people participate for your generous credit prizes.
  11. "Once a round is over, you must heal up and begin the next round immediately. Waiting out cooldowns is NOT permitted -- we don't have time to wait around on your cooldown timers." Lol, sounds like you don't have time to run a balanced tournament then. Not like that matters much, guess this will show who's the best op/sin on harbinger like usual with 1v1 tournies which don't limit overpowered sap/stealth ability. Leaving combat or delaying in stealth to heal should mean disqualification else 1v1 doesn't mean much.
  12. How many of you guys comin back scold?
