  1. On my server, there's a channel called "Allies." It's a FANTASTIC place to find groups for World Boss kills or ops or anything else that takes a large number of people. it's a fantastically helpful addition to the game, especially for people like me who normally play alone, but occasionally want to run big group content like Ops or WBs. But the server continually tells me any time any person anywhere on the server enters or leaves the chat. And turning it off turns off ALL server chat... so I miss out on a lot of things I want to see by turning this off. Is there a solution? Could a toggle be added to remove "user joins / leaves chat" and leave the rest of the system messages alone?
  2. At some point, the armor you get for turning in the Crates from heroics lost its credit value. I didn't know this, so I turned in about 70 of them (I mostly wanted the companion gifts from them) and filled my inventory with that armor. But since it has no sale value, it goes from one click to remove it to three (click, drag, drop, confirm) to destroy it. Maybe that seems petty, but one of the great things about those crates was the credits for selling the armor. Now it feels like a punishment instead of a reward: not only do I not get anything out of it, I have extra work to do just to clear my inventory. So I get that you don't want them to be a source of income; heroics give good credits already, we don't need to get double paid. But maybe make that armor have a 1 credit value, so we can again remove it from our inventory with a single click? Thanks.
  3. The website continually says it's down for maintenance. Is anyone else getting this result?
  4. Every time I try to add Cartel Coins, either in game or through the website, I encounter an error. It's been like this for a couple of weeks at least. I'd love to give you my money... please fix it so I can! =) Thanks for the amazing game.
  5. Hello, there! There are armor styles available in the Cartel Bazaar that many, many of us will never have access to. For example, there is the Dramatic Extrovert's set on the Binary Star Realty vendor. That armor looks AMAZING on my (very sexy already) smuggler. The event that would allow me to purchase that armor is long lost to the dark past... it was cartel packs or something that are no longer available, as I understand it. The point is this: That armor already exists in the game, and I'd love to have a set. Honestly, I would be willing to pay with cartel coins for it... I like it that much. And the prestige of having it from the previous method, I realize, is a thing, and I'm jealous of those who were able to acquire it through the proper channels, but this is a real "Take My Money" situation that I can't even pay you for. I'd love it if I had the chance to purchase this set or other sets that are just rotting on cartel market vendors. If there's a way to make that possible, I'd be very grateful. May the Force be with you!
  6. If you find such a guild, let me know. Most of my characters are pubs, but I really want that kind of a guild experience, so if I needed to I could create and level an Imp pretty quickly. That sounds perfect. Merkvah Defense spec Jedi Guardian Jedi Covenant server
  7. I found the "rare item" packs to be disappointing. I did get an item that makes my eyes glow red for a few seconds on my Sorcerer, and that was kinda neat, but nothing else I got from them really wowed me. I got a Space Mission exp bonus that lasts for 3 hours... in order for me to utilize it, I'll have to do nothing but space missions for three hours after I activate it, or waste the timer. Which means, of course, I log in, activate it, do one round of space missions and log to another character until tomorrow, when the space missions are available again. It's not well thought out, I think. I have used Cartel Coins for legacy unlocks, but that's not really smart either, as credits are pretty easy to come by once you have a level 50. So I put all my characters into my Legacy tree and log to my 50 Guardian. Then I spend an hour or so running dailies on Belsavus and Ilum, and that nets me around 150k credits, which I just mail to the character who needs them. Yeah, it's an hour and a half of work, but it saves me real life money. =) I think I'm going to save my cartel coins for a few months and get myself a set of appearance armor. I like the Valiant Jedi armor... I hope it is a viable option. Armor pieces have their own armor ratings, as well as the stats on the mods. I really wish that were not the case; I wish ALL stats were on the mods. As it is now, if I find a suit of armor that I really like the appearance of, I still have to take into account its armor rating. If the armor rating is inferior to what I'm already wearing, even if I dislike the appearance of what I have on, I have to go with that: I'm a tank, armor rating is VERY important.
  8. I played from launch until April or May, and then left the game for the rest of the year. I'm back now, and missing the raiding environment I had before I left. I was one of the main OP tanks for Galactic Peace Corps, and am eager to get back into the raiding scene. If you are interested in recruiting me, please reply here or send me an in game mail to Merkvah (Republic side) or Kanorn (Imp side) and we'll talk. I cannot commit to a hardcore schedule, as I am an adult with a job and a family, but I would like to be more than just a casual raider too.
  9. I have a 50 Guardian that I've played for a long time, and I started a Sith Warrior a couple of days ago. I immediately noticed this difference. It's not the only one, though. The first ability you receive which consumes resource (Focus, for Jedi, Rage for Sith) has a different activation timer. For the Sith, the damage happens at the beginning of the GCD (Global Cool Down) and for the Jedi it happens near the end of the GCD. This means that in PvP, if the Jedi and the Sith both hit the ability at the same time, the Sith deals damage first. The difference between Force Sweep and Force Scream has already been mentioned. The question which must be addressed then becomes: Does it matter? If the Sith arrives a quarter of a second behind the Jedi using the Charge / Leap abilities, and the Jedi damage occurs a quarter second later than the Sith damage is the Slash / Overhead Smash abilities, is it game breaking? I honestly don't think so. Other than in a PvP environment, that is. I would imagine that after a year of collected PvP data, though, the benefits and handicaps of each of the classes would be pretty apparent.
  10. Sentinel has 3 DPS spec trees. Guardian has a Defense tree and 2 DPS trees. I don't doubt that Sentinels are better DPS than DPS spec guardians, but I play a Defense spec guard. It's not easy, especially in the late game, where your really REALLY big hits are around 1 - 2k damage.... fights last longer, but you'll have Doc at that point, so the defense spec guardian can do most of what he needs to do... it just takes some time. =) Either way... you can't go wrong. By the end of the story, you'll have all the companions you need to supplement your abilities in whatever direction you need... Sgt Rusk for AE damage, Kira for single target damage, Doc for healing, T7 for tanking (or the other, surprise companion for that).
  11. EQ2 also had a /showhood feature. As a mage wearing a robe, you could have your hood up or down. The way they did this was by making the default robe graphic the hood down option, then using the robe texture to create a "helm" type piece that looked like a hood. From the front it looked really good either way. From the back, if you were using the hood up image, you saw the hood on your character's head, and also hanging on your back. Nobody I know ever complained about that... it was really not intrusive, and we were more grateful for the option.
  12. The JK storyline is absolutely epic. It drags a bit, but it had to draw itself out to fit the game, but the key points are amazing. After I finished it, all my other friends were jealous that their stories were not as good. Definitely worth playing through.
  13. Yeah... "The Old Republic" is amazing. Just stay off Ilum at 50.
  14. 4 days ago I went 1 and 16. that's 1 win, sixteen losses. I'm a guardian. I want to be able to tank HMs and eventually OPs. That's why I made the class. PvP seems to be the way to do that, as far as I can ascertain. But 1 and 16 is not just a run of bad luck. I'm not a bad player... I've got 13 years of MMO playing behind me, I have lead raids and been an officer in my raiding guild for most of those, I understand teamwork and I understand the rules of each of the WZs. 1 and 16 is not bad luck, and even if I were a horrible player, 1 and 16 is still far and away outside of statistical reasoning. If things were on an even keel, you'd expect a roughly 50% win / loss ratio. not a 7% win ratio. I DO have faith in BioWare, though. They're a FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC game company. They do care about the players. I have faith this will be fixed. but an imbalance of this magnitude isn't a "challenge," it's a discouragement.
