  1. I think that every time they remove an ability, they make the game worse. I also think that very few people agree with me.
  2. As bad as I felt for Vaylin, I really don't see any sort of redemption for her. With Arcann, he was at least reasonable at times. Vaylin is someone who kills on a whim. We have someone who kills half of his forces, to motivate the survivors to do better, versus someone who kills twice as many people she has to because she hates odd numbers. One is pragmatic cruelty, the other is just an impulsive serial killer. Who do you think you have the better chance of reasoning with? If it had been the other way around? If Vaylin had been the one drug from a pile of flaming wreckage? Maybe we could have redeemed her. But there was no occasion like that. And after killing Torian, I'm not feeling particularly forgiving. I have no idea how my Merc is going to choose. Vette is too much like she was pre-BH in my headcanon backstory for her, and yet she married Torian.
  3. Beat her on first or second try (can't remember which) without the Darth companion. I was geared and specced as a tank, so I had plenty of time to figure out how to fight. Her slamming attack only seems to end when you CC break out of it, so you definitely want to save it for that. It's basically a repeat of her chapter 8 fight, but with healing memories instead of any companions. So, I missed having Arcann to interrupt her, but it wasn't that bad, since I knew when to get out of town. Then again, Guardian has Blade Blitz and Leap, so it might be rougher for classes without movement skills as efficient.
  4. It certainly feels like I hit my high damage skills more than I did pre-5.0.
  5. I'd say it boils down to a bit of mental chess, where one side has a bigger advantage. If a BH prepares a grenade, then the Jedi will see it, and just force push it back in their face. It's not going to work if they see it coming. But there's a thing I noticed in the non-force user storylines. A lot of the time, they think they're going to win. Take that Sith girl on Dromund Kaas. She mocks you for thinking you have a chance, saying that "Only another Sith could defeat me. Or a Jedi. Or a really lucky mandalorian, I guess..." And I don't fight her fair. I get out of the way of her lightning, I smack her in the face to interrupt her casts, and she goes down. The advantage they have by being force sensitive is lost because they weren't expecting me to be so much trouble. A lightsaber is dangerous. But so is being slammed into a concrete surface by rocket propulsion.
  6. Don't be unfriendly. It's useful back in the low levels, where the small hp bars mean that the damage difference is useful. It's useful when you don't care about heat or ammo, you just want this person knocked down ASAP. And that's actually a thing, thanks to the KOTET giving you a bunch of normal and weak enemies that have long duration casts. I don't spam it, I use it intelligently. And anyone who says "Using it intelligently means not using it at all"? Go cut off your pinky finger. Your logic applies just as much there as it does here.
  7. There's a pretty condescending attitude by the fans of the new attack, in that they think people who prefer ravage are idiotic pretty boys who'd use the skill, watch it, and then get killed because of it. Of course they aren't going to stand in dangerous terrain, any more than a sage, merc or sniper would (although the sniper might, if they have Entrench specced to resist aoe damage. Dunno). If there's a telegraph on you, you move, even if you don't get the last hit on Blade Dance. Now I have nothing to do with my extra GCD. Strike? Either I have so much Focus I don't know what to do with it, or that 1 focus isn't going to help much. Slash? Using that takes me from the former problem with Strike to the latter. Awe, since it has a new advantage? Doesn't recharge nearly as fast as Blade Dance did. You don't go taking out skills for no good reason. If you wanted people to use this skill, then give it a shared cooldown. See how many people use that over an impressive, useful skill.
  8. My reasoning was "Who has the better chance of surviving?" Torian was a warrior, and could probably hold off on his own long enough for me to save Vette and come to his aid. Vette, on the other hand, doesn't have that sort of armour or combat training. I'm just annoyed that they didn't have the option to split up, sending my current companions to save Torian, and myself going to save Vette, or vice versa. I'm patient, I can fight without companions for a while if it means I don't permamently lose one. And if BioWare decides to add that option in later, I'm still screwed, because replaying chapters won't change the actual game.
  9. Higher influence increases their battle capability and crafting skill, so you still might want to throw a few gifts at them.
  10. It had more use back when it was a 30 range skill. And removing skills is NEVER a good thing. Better I have something that's never going to be used, than losing something I might have used.
  11. I don't PVP, and I don't like this change either. If I didn't pop blackout and got caught, it was my fault. I never thought "This would have been so much better if they just gave it to me."
  12. Exactly. It may have only been for solo'ing against normal enemies, but the knockback on missile blast let you follow up with Rail Shot. Handy for a final blow, or a starting blow when you have the heat to burn. Unload was part of a three-way stun. Dart one, cryo another, unload the third. That's not there. I really wish they'd stop taking out skills for no reason.
  13. I think Veteran modes are meant for people at level 70 with high influence. I certainly don't know how I'm expected to match 3 elites all at once.
  14. Is this seriously a thing? I've never played a DS character. Even for DvL, I just made her morally grey until I could grind through diplomacy missions. Saying that attacking a Jedi is considered a DS action is hilarious, when I think of all the Jedi I fight in imperial storylines. More often than not, they're self-righteous hypocrites. The one you face on Alderaan as an Inquisitor is a perfect example: he says "Oh, you're not like other Sith. Maybe I should reconsider my view on life... PSYCH! I was just getting backup so I could ambush you instead!" Are you saying that killing him after he shows himself to be a disloyal, deceitful hypocrite with full intentions on killing me... is a DS action?
  15. You know, I had enjoyed the event. Going back through all the lower level content again reminded me of why I enjoyed this game. But it also reminded me of things I hated. Operations you can't get into because nobody is ever around for them (I've still never set foot in Temple of Sacrifice). PVP, with it's brutality and the helpless rage you get out of being curbstomped. And HM flashpoints, where people will queue up for them despite having nowhere near the gear needed for it. And now this. I was stressing out about the event, because it was close to an end, and yet I still had so much more to do. But then I found a way to easily earn experience, both for crafting and characters themselves. So, I gutted my enjoyment of each class, and simply level ground to fifty. There was a bunch of HM flashpoints I hadn't achieved, so I found some friendly and competent people to help me get there. And due to time zone differences, they were playing way into the night, and I feel guilty for making them do that, because (1) all progress was lost, and (2) you're just going to do it again later. It reminds me of a video on game design I watched, where there was an idea to make the game better, which sounded like a good idea only because they didn't think of why people played, and their change completely destroyed their game. I feel like it's what happened here: Bioware saw the popularity of the event in how many people were doing it, and decided "We can reset progress and run it again!" without considering how people would feel about that. Just remember: Games are meant to be fun. If you aren't having fun, you should stop playing. And it isn't fun to be treated like this.
