It is a terrible thing to waste when the few ruin such things for the masses. When those that could bring new players in and have a wider community bridged by mutual enjoyment turn around and destroy that fervor and fun for others. There was something similarly tried between several guilds and run by friends of mine that was ruined by a singular group deciding to put together something as powerful as they possibly could to farm the newer players that were brought in. While others did attempt to minimize the damage there was still damage done. You are not alone in your attempt or your frustration, and while it's unlikely to happen, I hope that people that do this and then complain about the lack of people realize what they're doing. That it is their fault for fighting over some binary coded number in a video game and not attempting to continue a grand sense of community to further the people that partake in what they seem to enjoy.
