  1. tl;dr - Take a breath. Don't put all the blame on Dev & QA. I think they were put on a deadline. Enjoy the content. With each release there are expectations. With major releases even moreso. Considering the large scale of the system we're dealing with, it is not surprising that there have been a ton of issues. The problem is that there are far more issues than there were with 2.0 (RotHC). This shouldn't be surprising because the system has gotten larger (more FPs, GSF, Strongholds, more Ops, re-worked skill system, etc). With that all being said I have a hard time blaming the Engineering (Dev & QA) department for ALL of the issues. Given that there have been problems outside of the new contents area (GSF, exceptional lag) there is some blame to be laid at their feet. The main issue around the general lack of Quality (IMHO) is that this appears to be a date-driven release in order to have revenue realized for the end of the quarter/year. The fact that it was released at the start of December for early access, and then a week later for everyone else who bought 3.0 makes this all the clearer. The bottom line is that they had no control over releasing with this number of issues. It would have taken issues that made things completely unplayable in order to delay the launch. Folks might say that all the issues make the game unplayable, but that doesn't pass the sniff test. Folks are still playing. Release management might have taken into account the numbers of pre-orders and the numbers of regular orders. If pre-orders are only 25% of regular orders, then they could likely take the risk of having issues be there for a week if they know they'll be fixed when the other 75% of buyers get a chance to have at it. I've been doing software QA for 20 years from 100 person startups to larger companies (15k+ employees). I've tested everything from printer drivers, to content delivery systems, to desktop and enterprise virtualization. It's the same in every industry where a product release directly generates revenue. For a company to gain revenue for something like this (the expansion), it must be released. The timing of that release determines when a company can count the money taken in as revenue for a time period (Quarter, Year). If 3.0 gets pushed out until 2015 Q1, then the numbers for 2014Q4 and FY2014 take a hit. Stock price drops, people are placed upon the Sacrificial Altar of Management, internal moral drops, etc. I'd like to assume that 3.0 was released as best as was allowable with the time allotted. I have met very few folks QA folks that take a "Yeah, whatevs" mentality when a release goes out. I've been the victim of having to release stuff before I thought it was ready. I've also been part of some very high quality releases. Gamers are among the most vocally critical customers that exist. On forums like this, the vitriol can be slathered on without much in the way of repercussion. Just another day on the interwebs. For the record, I was able to finish the 3.0 solo story on my 3rd attempt with my first character who tried (just so I could see what folks where up in arms about). I'll likely wait until the issues have been addressed util I try with other chars. I think my biggest beef is with the unreasonable lag spikes across the game (not just in 3.0 content), and general server stability (which has been on-going for a while) I enjoyed the story a lot. I think they did a wonderful job in crafting Rishi and Yavin 4 (Rishi in particular). I paid my $20 and don't feel ripped off as I know I'll still play for a while. But, Yeah, Whatevs
  2. It's not the "entitlement" feelings.....it's the fact that The Harbinger seems to be the server that has habitual issues...time and time again and the fact that it keeps happening is ultimately frustrating. The Harbinger has been their most problematic server since consolidation and they still can't seem to figure out what's happening or come up with a long term solution to keep it up and running.
  3. Gear you buy for comms is re-sellable back to vendors for those same comms for a period after purchase. This is an idiot check for those who accidentally click/buy the wrong thing. Decorations that are purchased for crafted whatevers (or relic peices, or cartel certs) should behave the same way. The main reason is that deco's are consumed on use (from your inventory) and folks can very easily, buy them, then attempt to use them before closing the vendor window which just sells them back to the vendor for cash (which isn't worth nearly the cost of the mats). I don't think this window needs to be very long....30 minutes? if the deco is traded or posted to the GTN, then this timer is cleared and the deco behaves normally (can be sold to vendors for cash immediately)
  4. Grab your Fatboys, Crotch Rockets, Old Wings, and Trikes How about a Pazaak Run? akin to a Poker Run.... You have to travel in a group (no more than 4), all must be on speeders, 2-4 places on each planet (resets randomly after someone finds it). Find the location, each group members get a random Pazaak card (Must be on speeders!!!!!) (BoP...so no trading). Turn in Pazaak hands for prizes. After event, cards cen be vendor'd for 1 week, then they're gone so if they do another Pazaak run, you can't horde cards. Could encourage some random groups (social), let folks do some legacy exploration stuff if they haven't already, and they can enjoy the scenery that the art team put together.
  5. Random thought..... How about some type of promo contest where a player (or players) get their voice put into the game as a an NPC? Folks can submit up to 3-5 samples. Best ones get to have their voice(s) in the game for something.
  6. One more question regarding the Achievements....how many self destructs into a singularity do we need before we get either "Be the Ball, Danny" or "Nanananananaa"
  7. Are there any estimates for how much graffiti customizations will cost? Could be a big seller in the CM!
  8. tl;dr - Depends on play style and what you want to do during a match. I prefer the Nova for node capture, gunship hunting and serious support in Domination, and Flashfire with Kenny Loggins cranked to 11 in Deathmatch For me it's very situational. For domination matches I fly the Nova Dive almost exclusively. The speed and engine power are perfect for getting the initial cap and then speeding between nodes for additional support, gunship hunting, and general havoc. Rocket pods are perfect for taking out defensive turrets. I have no problem going into a heavily armed node, blasting a couple turrets away, and if it's being actively defended, I can either speed away or get blasted to bits and be back at the node toot sweet trying to open up a Pack of F'em Ups In Deathmatch I prefer the Flashfire for pure dogfighting. Much better handling/turning and the offensive abilities just match up better for me. No way I could pull off some of the twisty in & out flying I do in the Flashfire had i been flying the Nova (at least in my loadout).
  9. Finished this last night. Took me 2 tries (54 Scoundrel Scrapper). First time was meh when he started healing and his little sprogs showed up 2nd time was no problem on account of 5k/tick orbital strikes, 2.5k/tick force choke, 3k force chuck a toilet, 4k sticky grenade, 2.5k dirty kick, and a regular freighter fly by These are the fights that Heroic Moment was made for (why does everyone forget about it?).
  10. Nah....'cause then the forums would be overflowing with "ZOMG! The game is doing great! We're going to love everything in that patch/update. EVERYTHING will be fixed!!!!! ZOMG!" Not a single post will be negative. Can't have that or dogs and cats will be living together....mass hysteria!
  11. Small nit : Maint should end April 14, not April 4. re : What about east coast players.....at least your time window is well after midnight....for Left Coast US players....this is about as prime time as you get on a Saturday night <insert snarl>....wait...what? There's an "outside"? <opens door> Woah! There's....light....and real life people....and....fresh air (note to self : shower before leaving residence so as not to contaminate fresh outside air). Wonder what happens if I venture out into that world.... re : 019...the answer is "yes"
  12. NPC's take many forms. There are those who just sell you things, random toons walking around that you can't interact with, etc. Some, however, are important to the game. These are the ones you interact with, ones with a story and personality. Several things go into making these characters, from story to physical character design to choice of weapons to voice (and quality of VO acting). Since I don't think I've seen a thread on this one (at least not in recent memory), I pose a couple questions : Who is your favorite NPC? Which NPC's story would you like to see continued beyond what's already in the game? This can include characters/bosses that have been killed that you almost wish hadn't be (and maybe they can find away back from beyond the grave) Since it would be rude of me to pose the question and not answer.... Fav NPC : Grand Moff Kilran Argument : The perfect haughty, holier-than-thou Imperial, completely devoted to the cause. Sniper rifle seems like a perfect choice of weapon for him as he can just eliminate those who oppose the Empire from afar and not be bothered to worry about clean up. The voice actor for Kilran (don't know who...major oversight for him not showing up on IMDB) is spot on perfect. The writing combined with the look and voice make for a great villain. You can't help but want to punch him in the mush when he's standing in front of you spouting off about the Empire. He's never flustered no matter how many times you call him ugly or try to insult him. Why? Because he's better than you. Massive props to the char design team for him NPC Story to continue : Asara Argument : Jaysis! I don't think there's one NPC I dislike more than her. Almost makes me want to throw something @ the TV whenever folks don't leave her sorry *** behind. She's arrogant, self-centered, uncaring and willing to take the easy way out (flushing folks into space) vs. looking for a better solution. And the way her cinematic gets screwed up so all you see is that little blue head poking out form the bottom of the screen is just kinda creepy (kinda like the Rodians). Her story should continue through the Dark Side option....just so we get the opportunity to off her at some point. As a side note : Ever notice that Esseles has many of the elements of SW:ANH? Need to travel somewhere - Check Ship gets attacked - Check Need to board enemy station/ship - Check Random trip through trash bin - Check Fight Dark Lord in a hanger - Check
  13. Actually....I don't fault him in the slightest for wanting to drop back to Win7......Using Win8 on something that isn't a tablet is a 100% terribad experience.
  14. Right....because if they add touch support they're gonna take away all support for mouse/keyboard Games and method of input evolve. I'm sure you were upset when they swapped your punch cards out for magnetic tape. Fret not, young ludite, your mouse and keyboard are safe for a long time. I'll let you get back to shoo'ing kids off the lawn.
  15. Dear Bioware, Please update HM FP's to contain only 3 boss mobs. Each boss mob should be contained in its own room. Please link these rooms directly to the fleet and my ship. Please reduce the timer in the GF to 3 seconds, auto-mute all player char in HM FP's, and bar anyone from HM FP's that doesn't have a Level III speeder (because i don't want to wait for people to walk between the 3 rooms in the newly styled FP's....I just don't have the time. Additionally, please prevent anyone who has completed a single planetary "bonus series" from Q'ing. It's obvious these people aren't here for the comms Sincerely, A Spoiled Society WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
