  1. fair play to you for diving in just remember the golden rule NEVER EVER EVER EVER leave a turret, door,or any other objective point undefended. if you do this, you will already be better than most beginners another tip which may help- go find some open heroic area with lots of elites and strong mobs, dismiss your companion, and spend ages fighting them, you will learn to vary your attacks according to whether they are melee or ranged, and generally become better at fighting good luck mate
  2. i been levelling a healer sage and pvping with her quite a bit,she currently 27,and i have noticed it's pretty random, with the proviso that just after the reset of dailies is the time of day i have the best games. I notice that after about 3 or 4 games the quality of team play decreases quite dramatically as people who (i guess) are levelling alts go on to other things. The best way i find of carrying on with good pvp is to make a couple of buddies while the going is good, and group with them. This is on Red Eclipse btw. Best wishes
  3. The final fight for the Belsavis class story takes place in a long narrow room, and is against an elite and two strongs. I have had this bug twice now and have heard it happening to others in chat as well. Upon entering the room to confront the boss, Tharan will not enter, and stays outside the room on the other side of the threshold. The fight begins, and i cannot receive any healing as i am too far away from Tharan. If i use Force Cloak and leave the room to get Tharan and re-enter,the mobs immediately leave the room like they are being pursued by Satan himself, even if taunted. Tharan then refuses to move from where the mobs were, and i have to go up the chamber to the threshold in order to engage the mobs, but with no healing. Luckily i had lots of Biochem and got though it, but i wondered if anyone else had this bug,and if anything was being done about it. As the first time i went throught this was February 2013 and i had it again last week (September 2013) Thanks and best wishes all
  4. Thanks mate for an interesting idea. As for the consular, the class story is strongly linked to a) Rakata and the Noetikons and b) to the Rift Alliance. For me the greatest pleasure in the story by far was the Rift Alliance and the interactions that took place, so i guess if there were to be a continuation then some kinda of emergency or drama involving the Rift would be cool, so perhaps combine the 2 as the Esh-Ka/Rakata thing was quite cool also. I loved meeting Hallow-Voice btw. My biggest wish i guess would be to somehow allow a character who is diametrically opposed to their current faction to switch faction if they were maxed out on LS/DS points, upon completion of their class story. i always wanted my LS tankasin to fully 'redeem' herself by joining the Republic, although i have fekk-all idea how this would work! I guess she'd have to go thro a series of quests, each one losing an Inquisitor ability and gaining a Consular one, until all abilities were Consular. this would be quite fun and easier to manage the switch-over in terms of skills and rotation. Best wishes and stay safe out there
  5. Shadow Wrap it's called, and it allows you to use Shadow Strike in front of the target
  6. While all this is very funny, i actually find myself kinda unable to play the warrior story as everytime i see Baras he makes me wet myself with laughter. Was this an intentional in-game joke by the designers? cos he looks like a obese septuagenarian on his way to a s&m party, Was this really the best the developers could come up with?
  7. Thank you Kitru this pretty much confirms what i thought would be the case, i was only experimenting with the Focus tbh and was rather doubtful as to it's use, and dig what you say about the regen, tbh i'm a field-tester as i'm still learning how the theory works, but i'll certainly keep it for pvp and Nadia can always have it as well as her's. With regards to Ops etc yeah i guess full tanking gear is really only fair to the other people you're meant to be keeping safe, i'd hate to get a group wiped through being incorrectly geared, and the shadow damage intake upon pulling multiple trash mobs can be considerable. Once again my thanks for the kind advice and best wishes
  8. i'd add to this that as a tank you are expected to know the content of flashpoints thoroughly, so soloing them at easy mode with a toon say 8 or 9 levels above them is great preparation for the next time you tank it with your alt who is level-appropriate. I see no reason why this should not be the case as a healer or dpser. I must have done Mandalorian Raiders 50 or 100 times with various toons and i still found a chest the other day i never knew was there. just looking around...bored...heh.... also the flashpoint moddable drops are BOP but quite often the Heroic drops aren't...which is very handy for gearing up alts (Arahael)
  9. Hey there, i have a shadow tank (Arahael) using the kinetic tree up to Slow Time, but i go heavy on Accuracy then Crit and Power, i even have a cartel crit crystal in the saberstaff, and i use a mix of Resolve and Force Wielder, for extra damage. I think of this as 'hybrid tanking' but through gear rather than skill points, and i find it very enjoyable and viable especially solo questing, even to the point of using a Focus when Tharan is around now and again. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts or similar experiences, and i am particuarly interested in how this might work out in elder game content as i have just turned level 50. Thank you and best wishes During the Sengoku era in Japan, a daimyo named Takeda Shingen (1521–1573) is said to have become almost invincible in all battles without relying on guns, because he studied The Art of War.[2] The book even gave him the inspiration for his famous battle standard "Fūrinkazan" (Wind, Forest, Fire and Mountain), meaning fast as the wind, silent as a forest, ferocious as fire and immovable as a mountain.
  10. (Arahael) I have to say i found it easiest with a shadow tank, with Biochem but using a mix of Resolve and Force Wielder, you can get Tharan after Coruscant if you're prepared for a few tough times on Nar Shadaa, then you're set. What you are unhappy about fighting you can usually sneak past, with Tharan and Biochem you are probably more durable in pve at least than most other players your level (apart from other tanks with the same support). Also, if you are losing the fight you can Force Cloak away and get healed., This works very well against for example an elite and two silvers, you can't defeat all three but kill a silver before you have to evade and return to kill the other one etc is a great strategy for H2 or H4 solo. I was able to get my class done and then level thro pvp and pick and choose the other quests as i pleased. I even completed the consular story at level 46 which i could never have done with my Guardian tank. This said, all three (six!) tanks are excellent at what they do. Best Wishes
  11. interesting this, i'm a kinetic shadow 50 (Arahael) and i use Tharan a lot, i havent noticed any difference whatsoever except thro gearing or if somehow the game bugs and takes him out of Medwatch, do Bioware have anything to say on this?
  12. Lt Iresso is the dogs nuts!!! i think of him as Samuel L Jackson in commando gear, and it works lovely. I'm a Shadow Tank so i sometimes use him for fun and i have him in Sniper mode which is meant to reduce his threat, but he still takes it off me without even trying. also he doesn't like standing in environmental hazards like Qyzen seems to. For a Sage i'd highly recomend him. (Arahael)
  13. the consular story deals with the emergence of the Barsenthor, a Jedi prophecied in ages past. The Barsenthor gets the Master title 'early' in recognition of this. To the Barenthor the normal rules, if indeed they exist, do not apply. With regard to Knights, even tho they get the Master title later and some would say more appropriate time, they are still pretty much the centre of the Knighthood's struggle against the Sith, which is why they end up fighting who they fight(you know who) so they are special too, in fact i would argue the normal rules do not apply to them either. And really some might argue the consular romance options are barely ample compensation for all the other bugged nonsense we have to put up with. Is that fair enuff? thank you and best wishes (Arahael, Shadow Tank happily shacked up with Nadia)
  14. hey there. i went for power then crit til the accuracy pieces became available then i went for all 3 as i could get em, i aint a theory crafter but it worked for me, and good luck (Arahael)
  15. Something I've found to have significant combat advantages although it does involve effort and expense is completing all conversations and quests for your comps. Bonuses to Crit, Accuracy, Surge, Heals received, and max Health are all unlocked. i dunno what the hard numbers are but i've noticed it 'in the field', and i imagine having all unlocked, as i do, may well be be as good as having an extra piece of gear, altho this is a wild guess, Thank you for the guide and best wishes
