  1. The interview never said that if the Cathar proved to be unpopular they would never make a new species ever. They said it would be a lower priority. From what I see here, they are testing the water and seeing if they should devote more time and resources towards new player species. If the Cathar are unpopular, then new species will not have as high of a priority. That isn't to say they'll never do a new species again, just that it won't be as high a priority as new ops, warzones, gear, etc... It's standard business procedure. You don't just go all-in with something until you know it will make a profit. As greedy as EA can be, they are somewhat justified in it. A business has to make a profit, otherwise it goes out of business, and then nobody gets anything.
  2. Maybe I'm just weird, but I actually quite like most of these looks (Minus the phallic warrior gear, but I don't play a warrior, so meh). The Trooper gear in particular looks amazing. Can't wait to get those pieces on my Vanguard. I just hope they do different coloring for different set bonuses like the old gear.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I hardly ever used it at all before, so I guess I should be using it more often during ops then. Because I don't know how to effectively use an ability that has absolutely no effect whatsoever in Warzones? I seriously hope you're joking.
  4. Seeing as Update 2.0 will be killing any and all progression I've made on my character so far (one reason I'm vehemently opposed to constant level-cap raises) I have to wonder if it's even worth it to continue building up my gear on the live servers; should I just stash all WZ commendations that I make from this point on in order to get the new level 55 PvP gear coming in the new update? I just finished a complete War Hero set, and I'm working my way towards EWH, but since WH and EWH are being phased out in favor of the new gear, should I just horde everything I get in preparation of the new update? Should I keep spending my comms or just pack them all away for later? (On a side note, though I dislike the fact that all of my work is being invalidated, I have to admit the new trooper gear looks pretty awesome.)
  5. I'm a bit confused by this ability. It says it "instantly lowers threat by a moderate amount" but I don't exactly know how/when to use it. I'm playing a Scrapper specced Scoundrel, and I also have this ability on my Marksman Sniper, and I don't know when to use it. Do I use it BEFORE a fight so I don't draw so much aggro, or do I use it DURING a fight if I accidentally draw too much attention? Sometimes during an Operation I'll attract the attention of a large group and I'll activate Surrender/Countermeasures, but it doesn't seem to have any sort of effect. All the mobs still charge towards me and I'll start frantically activating my shields so I don't get pummeled quite so fast. Am I just doing it wrong? What is the correct usage of this ability?
  6. Except it's already well established in the canon that persuade only works on "the weak-minded" and NOT characters like Imperial Agents, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, etc... That ability only works against grunts or common soldiers who aren't prepared for a mental assault. Against everyone else it's completely useless.
  7. KotOR 2 explores this quit thoroughly. As one poster mentioned before, Kreia mentions a Jedi/Sith's over-dependence on the force, There are a lot of instances where exceptional hunters/assassins are able to beat Jedi. You also have to remember that not all Jedi are as powerful as Yoda, or Sidious, or Marek, or Windu, etc... Those are the elite; the best of the best. Some might just be Knights in training or Padawans, not prepared to deal with someone who can outsmart them and has a counter for their tricks.
  8. Get a team and you won't have this problem. Of course if you go into a highly-populated PvP area alone you're going to get ganked. Grab some friends, guildies, or even just a PUG group. I got invited to a standard 4-person team and we steamrolled everything.
  9. I always ctrl-left click to preview an item before I commit to it. On a sidenote, I want to know where you got that sweet techno-cowboy hat. It looks pretty awesome. xD
  10. I agree with you. I always thought raising the level cap was a huge slap in the face to the players who spent time to get decently geared. Got a full set of EWH armor? Screw you, it's all obsolete; now you have to grind even further for Super-Mega-Elite-War-Hero armor. Meanwhile, the players who haven't hit 50 yet (yes, these players do exist) now have to wait even longer before they can have fun with their friends at the end-game. I really dislike the idea that "the game starts at level 50," or in this case, now 55. That, to me, is such a huge failure of game design. You make levels 1-54 just feel like a speed-bump. How are people supposed to sit back and enjoy the story when you keep pushing the "reward" of the end-game further away? Why not make some new content for new players? Add some new FP's for lower levels, make even some new story quests involving companions more. Not to mention that raising the level cap creates an endless feed-back loop. Players want more progression, so you raise the level cap to 55. Players get to 55, get bored, and now they want ANOTHER raise. It just keeps going until eventually the level cap is raised to some horrible number like 135. Why not focus on new ways for level 50 players to improve their characters without invalidating the work they already done? Why not encourage players to make alts and have fun with another character? One MMO I played (that is now sadly gone) had a unique way of approaching this. When players hit the level cap, they could participate in a new system that would augment their character's abilities greatly, however it required them to go back and do a lot of the older and newer content in order to progress. Instead of invalidating everything they've done, they kept adding new, completely optional ways for people to expand their characters. Don't want to participate? That's fine, you'll still be viable for most end-game content. I can put up with this level cap raise, just this once. However, is this becomes a habit of new expansions I don't know if I can stand the constant invalidation of my work to get the "end-game" gear.
  11. I am not aware of any sites that have actual builds on them (I usually just pick my own skills), however, TOR Head and Ask Mr. Robot both have skill calculators you can use to preview the trees of each advanced class. The latter site also has a gear builder which lets you previews gear pieces and how they'll total up on a given character. It can get really in-depth, and is useful for previewing gear sets or for just messing around. As for which AC you should pick, you should ask yourself what you like more. Gunslingers have the highest ability range in the game (35 m) and mostly stay back and pummel enemies from a distance, whereas Scoundrels are more in-your-face type characters that utilize melee abilities.
  12. Beacuase apparently 100,000 threads on this topic weren't enough, so we just had to make another one. I have never had a problem with bubble-stunners. I don't usually say this, but L2P. It really isn't hard to avoid if you know what you're doing, which I'm assuming you don't. Also, it's a 3 second stun. 3 seconds... not 10 or 20.
  13. I've always wanted the companions to have more of a role in our story. As it stands now they are pretty much just sidekicks who follow us around and shoot stuff/tank/heal or whatever. For example, I know that in the early stages of the game, you actually had opportunities to kill companions or let them die, depending on your choices. I would like for this to be brought back, but with someone to replace the newly-deceased companion. For example, companion X cannot put up with my opposite alignment and betrays me; I kill them, and a new character (not a random character, but someone I know/have worked with before) comes and takes their place. Or maybe, instead of that, we get companions depending on our alignment or story choices; similar to KotOR 2: TSL where we could get either Mira or Hanharr depending on if we were light or dark sided. It always frustrates me how I get stuck with some companions whose alignment is completely opposite to my character's for the beginning of the game, and how they never agree with anything I do. Having the ability to get more personalized companions, or even to kill certain ones and have them replaced would add a whole new level of replay value to the classes. Finally, for the love of Kashyyk, unless a companion is a robot, I want to be able to romance them, regardless of species. If Commander Shepard can have a relationship with Tali, the 24/7 enviro-suit Quarian; or with Garrus, the completely human-incompatible Turian, then why can't it happen in Star Wars? Why can't my Trooper have a relationship with Yuun or Tanno Vik? Or a Smuggler with Languss Tuno? I just think it's pretty limiting for some classes to only get 1 or 2 romances and only with human or near-human companions. Bringing up Mass Effect 2 again, the only non-robot crew members who couldn't be romanced were Grunt and Mordin, and they had legitimate reasons. Grunt's true love was gratuitous amounts of violence, and Mordin was a Salarian who didn't really give a crap about love or romance. TL;DR version: Let us kill companions and replace them with companions more attuned to our alignment, have different companions based on alignment and give us more variety in our companion romance plots. /end rant
  14. It's Disappearing Act. Any class with stealth gets an ability like this. Assassins/Shadows have them too. Slap a DoT on them and laugh when their stealth breaks from the damage.
  15. I use them for leveling characters and giving them and other alts decent gear. Once I max out a certain crafting skill, I'll learn the advanced schematics and start selling them. Right now the only character with a maxed out crafting skill is my Sniper with Armstech. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Armstech gets any cool new schematics like Armormech or Synthweaving, so right now I'm just crafting the highest level weapons I have, Reverse-engineering them, and using the MK-6 Augment components to make augments. If you keep up with your crafting on a fresh rolled toon, you'll easily be able to get some really good gear at the lower levels. I'm leveling a Scoundrel with Cybertech right now, and I've been crafting advanced armoring, mods, and earpieces for myself and companions. It's really helpful for keeping yours or your companions gear up-to-date.
