  1. The old one was reviled from beta until it was changed. With the amount of outcry to get it changed, it's not going to get changed back. I'd be happy to have DFA's AOE radius reverted though.
  2. SWG's dye system was based purely on the palette alotted to each item piece. Some had different or partial palettes (like some pieces of Mandalorian armor.) While it was acceptable, it didn't allow complete freedom and in some cases made it impossible to match some items. EQ had a pretty cool system since you could pick any shade you wanted with an actual RGB scale. By far the best armor dye system I've seen. They were also craftable by players and to this day, still sell pretty well. Really nice part was, you could make your armor colors look like anything in the game. Wanted to make your armor look the same color as the old Velious faction armors? No problem. Just put in the correct RGB (which you could look up on the web) and voila. I had a fondness for Cobalt's deep gray blue shade and still use it on my warrior. Every other armor/clothing dye system I've seen in MMOs has been a poor immitation. The one they just added into SWTOR is just a step above Lord of the Rings (which is the worst.) Light this, Medium that, Deep whatsit. I'm guessing we'll be lucky to see 3 hues of each color and many lack the metallic sheen some color effects have. I guess that means they'll add in matte, glossy, metallic and so on as well. Don't even get me started on the "collections" system. CE items, crystals and other junk aren't even correctly added. And for some odd reason, I have a few war hero crystals which I never use. The only war hero crystals I've ever had in my inventory are cyan ones I've made to sell (which was over a year ago since I made one.) I give BioWare a big golf clap. Sure glad Legacy of Romulus is out in a few days. At least I won't be able to finish that whole expansion in a day like Rise of the Hutt Cartel. It's entirely f2p with few limitations, if ya wanna check it out.
  3. Given the mail and GTN lag this morning, I'm not surprised and was half expecting it.
  4. Was just in the middle of a daily heroic and dumped to the server select screen. Good thing I hadn't started running a daily FP or OP yet lol.
  5. As a former raid tank and MT from both EQ and WoW, I tend to agree. As for tanks and glory... who the heck needs to see big numbers? Picking up a boss on an otherwise guaranteed wipe and tanking it down to a 1st kill (a worldwide first at that) trumps any big arbitrary # you can come up with. I've never played an MMO where the tanks didn't get all the glory for content progression in a progression guild. If you're looking for glory in random FP or WZ pugs... you're doing it wrong. SWTOR doesn't have an Uqua from EQ to drive borderline tanks to quit or be benched, so I really don't see an issue. I wouldn't say itemization for tanks is broken at all. Do the HK-51 quest and gear him out. That's all the DPS you need. If you've gotten yourself decked out correctly, you'll blow through dailies (he can solo 50 elites on his own) without any downtime whatsoever. Best of all, you won't have to waste bank or inventory space for extra otherwise useless gear.
  6. Correct. The cartel has the Powered Assault and Tech armor and Electrum Onslaught is actually a match for the Phalanx set. Powered Assault is much darker and the helmet's camo scheme might actually look different with color matching than any of the others (never tried it tbh, but I've had issues with other sets.) You can find a similar set doing heroics from Voss and Corellia iirc. Vanguards can get a white or silver set, while commandos can get a camo green one. Ultimate Quadranium or something to that effect. I have two pieces sitting in my bank but never bothered to get the rest. As for me, I finally finished off another camo set with the Master Striker/Havoc look that I'm pretty happy with and get a ton of comments on.
  7. I suffered through the original Tracer Missile. HiB never really bothered me and I'm somewhat a fan of abilities that don't draw attention to you over ones that do. As for railshot... it sounds nice but unless it's a killing blow, it's underwhelming. TBH, I've killed more people with Explosive Dart than Rail Shot because of all the force speed running away. As for Rocket Punch vs Stockstrike... Rocket Punch was great when it had the knockback. Just didn't quite compared to harpooning a fleeing Sorc and stockstriking them in the face though. That meaty crunch was a killing blow more often than not and I found it quite satisfying. What bothered me more was all the wimpy sound effects that 98% of the blaster rifles out there have compared to pistols.
  8. Been almost a year since I did this, but you need him for the console. You do NOT need him for the actual fight and iirc, you can't summon anyone BUT T7 so use him, or not. I found him to be frustrating since he kept getting in my way and finally did it solo. HK-51 won't be a factor unless the interface is bugged and lets you bring him in. As for the fight itself....
  9. If you liked Gaius Baltar in BattleStar Galactica, you'll feel right at home with Doc. That said, I like Doc. He's got his faults (who doesn't?) but he always manages to do the right thing when it matters the most.
  10. If you've played a protection based warrior in games like EQ, WoW, or LoTRO, you'll feel right at home with a Guardian and easily be able to transition into the class. I find my Guardian far more versatile than my Vanguard and Powertech for PvE, and the latter for PvP.
  11. This right here. It's one thing to see spam on the fleet. The only time I go there really is to pick up/collect on the dailies from the terminal, or when I exit/enter my ship to reset the crewskill list if it didn't pop up with what I was looking for. Getting sent tells is just downright annoying. Almost as annoying as seeing the same credit seller spamming the fleet that was there 8 hours earlier with the exact same name. I've played a lot of MMOs, but I've never seen an MMO with as lax of a response to this kind of issue as I have in TOR. Even SWG (which had a skeleton crew) had a more active response to credit farmers.
  12. Yes yes, but that was on Dantooine in a beast group! Though I remember you rounding up a lot at invasions too just for grins. - Voxxi
  13. Back during the Thanksgiving beta, in an attempt to make Cybertech more interesting, they moved mods from various other professions over to Cybertech. The ones from Armormech were correctly moved over, but the ones from Artificing are still on the Artificing trainer. They only show up if you filter it to show everything and they're only learnable if you have Cybertech (but can't since you can't have both Artificing and Cybertech at the same time.) They're in game, just not accessable. I'm surprised this bug has persisted as long as it has given it's a major one.
