There is a what I find a good solution to removing pvp stats that has been sugested numerous time on these forums that people seem to have overlooked. I'll try to explain that the best I can. People want expertise removed right? But in doing so, people who raid will have the best gear around and will still crush other players who only have basic gear, therefore we're back to our big gear domination problem.
The solution is simple, make all lvl 50 gear have the same base stats with a special PVE bonus to the raid gear. This bonus would only work against PVE characters/mobs/bosses.
Example: You just hit 50 and got some legs part from your class quest or some world heroic. The stats would be like this (Keep in mind these stats are only used as an example for easier understanding):
[Awsome Orange Legs ]
50 strength
60 endurance
30 power
10 critical rating
Now, your guild and you decide to go do EV and the pants token drops. You go trade it for the pants part at the vendor:
[superDuper Pants of Pain]
50 strength +25 strength PVE
60 endurance + 30 strengths PVE
30 power + 15 power PVE
10 critical rating +10 critcal rating PVE
Of course, each classes would have their predefined basic stats to make sure they are balanced.
With a system like this, nobody gets any advantage in PVP and you can still grind your pve gear for better raid stats and keep your pve look. You can also keep the grind for the PvP gear so people who wants to PVP can PvP to get new looks without it giving them any advantage.
To reward pvpers, you can give them differents set of vanity gear and looks aquired throught grind, achievements, time played, valor ranks etc. each having it's unique set of gear. Maybe even change the way some abilities looks, like changing the color of the commando's healing beam to another color depending of which set he's got. The possibilities are endless.
I'm not saying this solution is flawless but it's still something worth looking at.
