  1. Quoted for the absolute fracking truth. This is DOT all over We are most definitely "dedicated casuals". Sure we're not online 24/7, but we still pay our monthly sub and have a great deal of fun without having to approch an MMO like a second job. I'm truly glad BW's main demographic for producing this MMO is us 'casuals', I've been sick to the back teeth of an MMO developer being pushed around by extremists within the gaming community. Rushing things only leads to more issues and new lines of code becoming broken >.< it make my mind boggle with the amount of data within multiple databases that has to be managed... I dread to think of actually how many lines of codes and variables that have to be considered when making a change and the impact that change can have once in production O.o Will I trust BW? as many have noted before in this thread, it is a moot point. Some of their games were great some subpar, and I will probably buy another title of two from them. *shrugs* all this is is entertainment, and to put it bluntly ALL entertainment is technically a waste of your time, it is soley down to "am I having fun or not, whilst 'wasting time'?" But this continual trash talking by screaming extremists of every new game that comes out will ultimately harm the gaming industry in the long run. Better to use the appropriate channels to feedback, and if that still doesn't work use the clearest message of all and take you $$ elsewhere. Us causal will still be here, enjoying the game for what it is (and not some imaginary or unrealistc expectation of a game), and still paying our sub and having a laugh with friends.
  2. I completely concur with this opinion. I've played MMOs since almost at their dawn, from the birth of graphical MUDs: DAoC, EQ2, SWG, WoW, LotRO, WARHammerOnline, AoC. And having experienced a wide variety of game devs, forum mods, and GMs / customer service (or lack of!) I can confidently say that the launch of SWTOR was the most planned, well organised and instantly adaptable to the huge influx of players in Early Access / post-launch that I have ever experienced in the past decade. Thank you Bioware for drawing influences of great systems from many MMOs across the market and getting the majority of those intricate systems working from launch. Thank you for planning years ahead and having the investment to deliver on your original statement about what SWTOR will be at launch, plus giving a little more. Thank you for lovingly crafting a wonderfully sylistic and intricate world (I truly am fascinated by your various rock designs across all the worlds I have seen so far!). Thank you for finally bringing actual RPG-ness into an MMORPG, and real story to the potentailly dull task of questing / adventuring through the world. Thank you for listening to constructive feedback, taking on board suggestions, continually being engaged with your playerbase via many means (Twitter, FB, Forums, Press Releases, Guild Summit etc.) and giving realistic expectations about those suggestions and feedback. Thank you for having you servers up 24/7, and clearly communicating maintenance schedules and explaining any extended outages (have there been many ad-hoc extensions...? I can only recall 1 maybe 2 since launch) Thank you for creating an MMO that runs very well on my 4year old intel i7 (original) cpu / mobo, 4GB ram and my 1yr old gfx card on win7-64 (that is also well maintained and kept clean of virus and temp file crap - seriously peeps, clean-up, maintain and reinstall your OS everynow and then! ). I am extremely satisfied with the game, and very much looking forward to 1.2 and the many many many things they have planed for this perpetual and expandable world. And to all those idiots who rushed to 50 and quit, you are the ones who are sorely missing out on the tonnes of content you zipped past. Ever heard the tale of the hare and the tortoise? *goes back to being one of the millions of happy and contented silent majority that are far to busy enjoying the game to waste time replying to all the pathetic haters who have lost the ability to see things in a posititve light or even realistic point of view* Have fun peeps!
  3. This^ and this > I for one want to PLAY the game mechanics, be all excited with my guildies about a new MMO world to explore/level in etc, whilst at the same time actually begin to develop who my character is within the environment she finds herself in, BEFORE I begin to RP with other player characters, but this is simply the way I prefer to approach RP. Just chill out, the RP will come as and when individuals are ready to, you can not force their hand / demand RP from people, that is just a unrealistic expectation.
  4. Having experienced a decades worth of MMO's (DAoC, SWG, EQ2, WoW *gags and spits involuntarily*, LotRO, WAR and AoC), I would like to also add that I'm really enjoying what I have experienced so far in Early Access and love a lot of features of SW:TOR MMORPG: the stylistic design (I thought it may be too cartoony, but it has a beautifully soft realism about the style and colours used), the environments (just gobsmackingly bewhildered and in awe), the quests / story, the character creation (sure you don't have realistic sliders to the n'th degree, but there is a lot of choice if you have the imagination... or have the wit to hit the random button until you like something); 'area loot' option is just genius for an MMO launch perspective; the chat functions / full options are there (you can even create custom channels); the guild functionality is there (with the ability to make member/officer notes against characters, and I think custom ranks? not tried it yet). There are just so many features in this Launch status MMO that is still sorely lacking in many well established MMOs I have played in the past. It has taken the best 'norms' from most MMOs and slapped on a lot extra. Yes, there will be bugs, but when you have any database as humungous as this one and then factor in the thousands of players all moving through that database environment and smoothly, my mind boggles as to how it all comes together. Granted, I have seen a couple of players 'stuck' in a wierd phasing stance, but I can only pressume this is an issue their side as this was just two players out of hundreds I've come across. The only tiny gripe I have is my logitech mouse buttons 3 , 4 etc don't seem to be recognised by the game, so I have to use my wit and retrain my brain to find an appropriate key binding for a function... and that is all. other than that this game is giving a lot of joy so far. I just don't understand peoples moaning (trolling). Frankly I think the "I must have my own personal whine thread" people are spoilt brats, who lack wit and imagination, with nothing better to do in their lives than biach that they can't have it all, like yesterday! Grow up! Every heard of Patience is a Virtue? Peeps are so quick to shoot things down and poopoh these days, I blame the media for the negative vibes of the world.
  5. This is from one of my guildies, who doesn't have Early Access and since the forum rehash can no longer post (until launch/registered subscription), but would like to share:
  6. I can understand the forum clean out (although some of it could have been useful to archive), but why did they have to wipe the PMs as well? I wish I had known, so I had time to download/save the PMs Edit: hang on.... I have 47 stored message of 500, yet I have no way to acces them o.O Not in Inbox, not in Sent and not in another folder I created... how do I..?
