  1. In most other MMOs that I've played, the deserter penalty, if there is one, is a win-win for all the players, including the deserter. First, it is so short it's hardly noticeable. Second, if you leave a match, it means you're less likely to backfill the match you just left. Everybody wins. In SWTOR, the deserter penalty is lose-lose. First, it's longer than most matches. So if your goal is to get as many matches in as fast as possible to get your Daily/Weekly done, the best thing to do is to stay in and not leave, regardless of whether you like or are any good at a particular type of match. Lots of people hate arenas, lots of people hate OPG, lots of people hate Huttballs, lots of people seem to hate any PVP where there is any objective more complicated than deathmatch. If we could queue only for certain types of matches, the same way we queue for FPs, this would be a non-issue. I would happily queue for Regs PvP all the time if I could uncheck the box for the Huttballs queue. I agree with you on the pre-mades. Keep the premades limited to Ranked, keep Regs limited to solos and pairs. I almost always queue solo and would only be likely to start queueing in a "group" if I was teaching my son how PvP works in SWTOR (and he's six, so that's not in the near future, he can stay in Cyrodil for now). Huttballs sucked in beta, it sucked at release, and it still sucks today after nine years of development. Cool if you think it's fun though. Have at. If anyone thinks anything written there was a "tirade" or "self-interest" then they have clearly had a joyously sheltered experience on the internet, or they have the reading comprehension of a not particularly bright trout. Either way, I explicitly said that, for the past decade, I wouldn't waste anyone's time by joining a Huttballs match at the beginning, and would leave immediately so that someone who did enjoy it, and was thus more likely to do well and see the team to victory, could take my place. But if it were near the end, I would stay and do my best to help my team win, to play to the objectives, regardless of the likelihood of our winning, and do my best to be a good sport about it. With the lose-lose deserter penalty, Bioware burned that bridge. If I zone into a Huttballs match, I'm not even going to try until they implement full avatar collision detection. Until then, mid-field dance-off it is, where I shall pine for AoC's Hallingdans. This does make me think that all my characters will need to have a "go-go" outfit.
  2. Pretty much all the changes to PVP are horrible. With the Steam launch, it should be a great time for new players. Instead the devs change the daily/weekly missions to recognize only wins while also implementing a 15-minute deserter penalty. So if you're a regular PvPer in a guild and can group up, this is great. But if you're a rookie, a solo player, or both, this change is really frustrating. Since Huttballs was introduced in Beta, I have voluntarily played two games. One the first time I tried it. It sounded stupid and like an esport the engine wasn't designed to handle. A ball-game in an MMO with no clipping? I was right. It sucked. That was the last time I played it and went back to focusing on other aspects of the beta. After the game released, I thought I'd give it a try. Huttballs still sucked. Here we are nine years later, Huttballs still sucks. Ever since, if I queued for PvP and loaded into Huttballs, I would usually just leave immediately. If there were only a few minutes left, I would often stay and do my best to help my team win, even though I still despised Huttballs. And sometimes we would win, since I wasn't always backfilling for some primadonna who flounced rather than tarnish their "perfect" record. But now, if I backfill into a losing Huttballs match, I get nothing for staying, regardless of what I do or how I play, and I get a deserter penalty for leaving. It's a lose-lose situation. So I think from now on, loading in to a Huttballs match will just mean it's time for a mid-field dance off.
  3. Agreed. I play with my son (and my wife has an account but doesn't play). Right now, I keep my sub active but I only resub for my son if he's playing a lot and we want to do things together that have weekly caps, and we've already hit that cap. If there was a family account, I'd probably just leave all three of us subbed all the time.
  4. Yes, please. For this exact reason. Using my chips is usually the last thing I'll do for the day. It would be really nice to not have to remember who has the Emperor and Kingpin chips and just be able to go to the casino on any of my characters.
  5. Gods, yes. I got him... so I'm using him on my Bounty Hunter for the BBA and Nightlife events... but I'm not sure I'm going to keep using him for anything other than a crafting drone at this rate. Now that I got the Gamorrean, I think I'll switch to him (?) since I can control how he looks. It's the same with all my other Level 1 companion unlocks. I use Shae and Hexid from level one and have them kitted out to match my character. Which one I use largely depends on if I want a ranged/tech or a melee/Force minion. Nico has no customization options and... I don't remember ever using him. He's just a crafting mission drone. "Could've gone worse... Not sure how, but it could've"
  6. I'm in the same boat. I maxed out everything on the NA servers... but then started playing on the EU servers. So I have all the achievements and rep, but none of the Kingpin bounties unlocked on any of my new characters. And the CPCs are now a currency so I can't just buy them to get the stuff I want off the vendors. To unlock all of the Kingpin bounties it'll take all your rewards from your account's first 25 bounty missions. But after 50-some missions, you will have caught up to your Henchmen-only total, and after that, you'll be gaining 13 CPCs per week on a character with full unlocks. So... I think I'm going to bite the bullet and do it, but only on my Bodyguard, if I'm going to spend that much time grinding... I'm going to make it thematically appropriate.
  7. Matches I will queue for every time. 1. Yavin (Civil War copy) 2. Novare Coast 3. Civil War 4. Void Star 5. Hypergates Matches I will queue for if I've finished my Daily, am (mostly) finished with the Weekly, or just in the mood to PvP and want the queue to pop faster. 6. OPG 7. Arena (If it was always a balanced fight, great. But too often it's 3v4, and I'm on the short team.) Matches I will never, ever queue for again. 8. Original Huttballs (The Pit) 9. Quesh Huttballs 10. Vandin Huttballs
  8. This is exactly what I expect to happen. Going forward, since I will still want to get my PvP Dailies and Weeklies done, if I'm in a good mood, I'll just deathmatch it and run out the clock. If I'm feeling salty, I'll just do my best to get the ball myself and run it back to my own goal to help the other team get a 6/0 victory as fast as possible so I can queue for something else. I absolutely despised Huttballs in Beta. I felt it could be better, possibly even fun, with collision detection so our avatars could actually block and intercept each other. But that never happened. Nine years later, I still despise Huttballs. In the past, I would usually just leave if I loaded into a Huttballs match. It's no fun for me and I wasn't going to intentionally ruin it for the people who did enjoy it. There were a few times where I have loaded in and stayed. Usually because I was a filler and there was less than half a match to go. Now I guess I'll be staying every time.
  9. I honestly had no idea that Huttballs ends if one team gets to 6 goals. Thank you! I mean, I hope it never comes to it but if they add a Deserter penalty without allowing you to choose which type of PvP you are queueing for, this will come in handy.
  10. I like the occasional bit of PvP but there is no player collision in SWTOR so I have absolutely despised Huttballs since Beta. I would say upwards of 90% of the time, if I load into a Huttballs arena, I wait until the countdown timer hits zero and then I leave. I would leave as soon as my avatar loads in but then I'd risk jumping right back into the the same Huttballs match when I requeue. It especially pisses me off because I'm usually queueing for GSF and PvP at the same time and getting dumped into Huttballs loses my place in the queue for GSF. If you add a deserter penalty and I am trying to do my unranked daily... well, I'll just stay in the game and treat it like a team death match. I won't bother with the objectives because I will only despise Huttballs more. Beta players were saying that we should be able to choose what type of PvP match you queue for in Beta at least as far back as Summer 2011. Sooo... you're 9 years late to the party on this one but better late than never I suppose. I would rather play 100 losing matches in OPG than even 1 winning match in Huttballs. The time frame is, it's already 9 years late. So I hope it's soon. And it if deserter penalties get added before this, I'll probably just take a break from SWTOR until either they are removed or until you can choose which modes you queue for so I never have to see another Huttballs arena again.
  11. From beta until March of this year I was playing from Moscow, Russia. Now I´m playing from Cologne, Germany. In both countries I would occasionally see lag shoot up to 3-5000 ms but that was usually due to troubles with traffic in the US (like hurricane season). Normally it´s around 100-135ms.
  12. Agreed. For the past 6 years, I've been living in Moscow, Russia so I could never make it to one of the Cantina events. Now I live in Cologne and it would be fun to go. If it's at a similar time to previous years, it's going to conflict with the Star Citizen event and tickets to that are going fast so I'm hoping there will be an answer from Bioware soon.
  13. Before the HK Helmet goes live, I would suggest one change. Put his lower jaw back. If I have that helm equipped, I don't want to be seeing any part of my character or companions sticking out. If possible, I would love it if it could be worn under a hood without making the hood disappear. But the hole in his head is my main critique.
  14. They are aware. As far as I know, because of how the exploit works between your client and their servers, it makes it hard for them to stop it in general. If I see someone doing it, it's usually pretty easy to tell if it's real lag or exploiting. If they finish with few to no kills and single-digit accuracy, it's honest lag (or they really suck). If you see them hopping all over the place and they've got a decent number of kills and 30%+ accuracy, they're probably exploiting. I usually only report when it is glaringly obvious. And I usually just write up what I saw with the time of the match and the alleged exploiter's name. But if you can get video of anyone using the expoit in a match, you can report them to the GMs with a link to the video and get a better response.
  15. That's why I only like those two models I mentioned. The common short models are just too chopped down for my tastes. And since none of the speeders scale, I think you have to be Body Type 3 for the big Rarks to look like anything other than just straddling a rocket. Type 3s look more like they're sitting on it. And since you're straddling something, it's one of the few speeders where you're upright but it looks ok. As opposed to all the STAP variants which are physically impossible. (Your feet are in front of your hands).
