  1. Yep he is useless, I even geared him up in verpine gear just to see if it was because he was under-geared and he is still useless. The only thing I use him for is a gatherer for running scavenging crew missions and even then he is not exactly the best for that.
  2. DPS: Merc, Sentinal , Sniper in that order Tank: Assassin, Jugg/guardian, PT Heals: Operative
  3. Lore wise this would make a degree of sense for the tech based characters , Mandalorians (bounty hunters) come from a warrior culture and they are in essence professional soldiers and having them learn to use trooper weapons would not be a major hurdle in terms of the star wars universe canon, and troopers are also professional soldiers so it would make sense for them to be able to use a wide variety of weapons so it would make sense for them to use the weapons of a bounty hunter. it would make sense for Imperial agents to have access to all kinds of weapons since they are a branch of the imperial armed forces although they would probably be restricted to lighter weapons and smugglers are opportunists and individualists so they would probably use whatever weapon was readily available but heavy weapons like assault cannons would probably be a little to hard to come by for them to use. As for mechanics all I would do to implement this is to reuse the coding for the various weapons if they are on their counterpart class (troopers would use merc animations if they used dual pistols and vice versa) and reuse the animations for the counterpart moves so for example a merc using an assault cannon would get their death from above replaced with a mortar strike. In essence if you chose to use the weapons of your counterpart class you would in essence become that class.
  4. When I encounter a fail tank in random queues I simply whisper the other people in the party and let them know I have a tank and I am happy to switch over and tank if they drop group and reform, And almost all of the time when we lose the dead weight of a fail tank and I tank the run goes as smooth as butter. The good DPS usually have the ultimate comeback to a primadonna tank saying "I would like to see you do a better job then.". The good DPS are good because they have learned all the roles and they can quite happily tank , heal or DPS through anything knowing exactly what the tank and healers will be (or should be) doing at any given point in a fight because they have already done the fight in every role. And by extension good healers and tanks will also have toons in the other roles so that they know where they need to be in relation to the other members of the team. And tanks are not the automatic leaders of groups by the sole virtue of being a tank. The natural leader of a team is the most experienced member of the team , it is only a coincidence that tanks get more pops in flashpoints (when they can be bothered to run more than the 3 a week that they need for the weekly) and thus have more experience in flashpoints.
  5. The constant stream of abuse from the so called 'elite' PvPers for not wearing the top tier you do not own is enough to put a lot of people off, PvP is now an elitist club where the chosen few get to dominate.
  6. Community building for PvPers? is that like where they cycle through toons cussing you out with every swearword they know and change characters to continue their temper tantrum when you put them on your ignore list?
  7. I did , I rolled a juggernaut, an assassin , a powertech and a guardian to learn tanking from a variety of perspectives , I also have a sorcerer healer and a operative healer , It is largely because of doing this that I became so aware of the large difference in the queue times, and it doesn't help me gear up as a DPS , the way it stands now my mercenary was geared from running S&V & TFB SM and my sniper is getting her gear from stuff I buy off the GTN or shuttle over to her on legacy gear from the excess of elite and ultimate comms my other characters earn. I made this topic because it occurred to me that a new player who only has a single character that is a DPS faces an uphill battle to get geared up and learn how to play their class in a group environment (which is vastly different to the style of play used for soloing).
  8. The situation with the class imbalance in FP queues has hit ridiculous proportions for DPS with 2 hour waits being the norm (16 hours without a pop was my record) and about 10-20 minutes for a healer. While tanks get an instant pop. (I gathered this info myself since I have a DPS, a healer and a tank character) Something needs to be done to attract DPS or healer players to want to play a tank like adding more damage dealing capacity to tanks would be a good start to attract a DPS player to want to play a tank, or make the role of tank optional with some new 55 HMs so that DPS players can get their weekly done in a time-frame comparable to tanks. What has prompted this is that I have noticed that several tanks are now charging 100k per DPS in a group for the 'privilege' of 'allowing' them to get their elite commendations. They usually do this by either forming their group in general fleet chat, or using the group finder then DEMANDING 100k off each DPS before they begin.
  9. I had a lvl 10 vanguard tank turn up stark naked and weaponless to a GF Essles run and beg for gold... not credits , but gold. He got kicked out pretty quick.
  10. "I want to wear robes of solid gold!" ~ Sith Inquisitor on Nar Shaddaa. Which is why I wear the Opulent Triumvirate Armor on my Assassin. To hell with practicality , It is all about style.
  11. Changing planets seems not to trigger it, jumped to and from fleet & DK and got and off my ship at both ends about a dozen times.
  12. I have the same problem, the text is unreadable, which makes the game unplayable. Edit - Did a repair install and it seems to be working ... for now. Edit - Character switching seems to trigger the bug, I started out fine but as I cycled through my characters to apply my excess rep items for the event last week it started again.
  13. I play all the classes (yes I have no life, lets get that out of the way early so we can focus on the issue at hand) and I visit all the class forums and lurk quite a bit and I have noticed some common threads that are the same no matter which forum I am looking at . 1: The class in question will always have a couple of members that will be trying to metagame the devs into nerfing every other class except theirs. 2: These people will also cry loud and long about how underpowered their class is and demand that the devs buff their class significantly. Often using the threat of unsubscribing in some form (solo (they will unsubscribe) or mass (every member of X class will unsubscribe) ) to try and force the issue. And this phenomena makes it very difficult to actually work out which concerns are genuine and which are just metagaming to gain an advantage in the game. So I suggest that the way to avoid being seen as a metagamer is to provide detailed data in the form of parse data, fraps videos and screenshots that prove your claims are genuine. (Also if you think X class is OP and you are class Y then roll up a character in class X and nine times out of ten you will see first hand that this is not the case, and with the other one time out of ten when you are right you 'win' because you have a character in the OP class now.)
  14. They need to extend the event for a couple more days to make up for it effectively being broken for the first couple of days.
  15. The event as it stands now is a bad joke. Too many people competing for a scarce resource , and taking hours to do a quest that should be done in minutes.
