  1. If you want, you can use the online installer to get the launcher on your computer, but installing with the discs should be slightly faster I would think. The game will need to patch anyway, so if you didn't want to mess with discs at all, you could just install from the website here.
  2. Somehow the conversation drifted off into whether WoW was the catalyst for this behavior, etc. Unfortunately it's not that simple. Ever since the internet offered ways to interact with others this kind of behavior has been happening. It isn't the game that's drawing these crowds, it's the anonymity, and you can't do anything about that. The sad part isn't that these types of people are in the game, it's that they exist at all. I don't mind crass jokes and language, but see no need for racist, homophobic or sexist conversations and remarks to take place. It shows the immaturity of these people and their inconsideration for other people around them. I know perfectly normal people in real life who go nuts on the internet, and it blows my mind to think you'd turn into a different human being just because you're behind a keyboard. You wouldn't walk up to someone in public and say half the things that are said in general chat if you valued your well being. So bizarre.
  3. Unfortunately, I'm in complete agreement with you, OP. It's hard to imagine a normal adult turning into a raging maniac on the internet, but that is, alas, the anonymity of it bringing out the worst in people. It's always funny to me how people completely change their personalities when they get on a computer, but there really isn't any changing them. I too enjoy helping out players and having civil chat, but in general, it's pretty dang hard. I think the hardest part of it to stomach is the blatant sexism, racism and homophobia. I get that the anonymity of the internet brings out all sorts of bizarre behavior, but man, you can't go more than two comments into general chat without seeing downright ignorant statements. It stuns me, and I'd like to think the people doing that are younger, but I somehow doubt it. I suppose the best way to combat it is to find a like-minded guild and stick with people who act maturely. It's a shame you have to work around people like that and it may inhibit your experience, but that's the way of the world. Good luck in your future gaming!
  4. Are we playing the same game? All of my female armor completely covers my characters and there is at least some choice in this game as to what you want to wear in terms of styles. Other games have different models for female and male characters that make every single piece of female gear "sexy". In my opinion, this game is way different than others and the females are not wearing ridiculous outfits, but maybe that's just my experience. I also haven't noticed any game art that depicts women in skimpy clothing either. Kudos for that.
  5. You make a certain point, SkunkWerks. I think a lot of the quitting posts in any MMO usually revolve around what they don't like with the game personally and how it doesn't live up to their expectations. This is usually paired with a justification of some kind, such as "hardly anyone plays the game anymore!", or "look how many subs they've lost!", which is rarely truth. Those statements are used to give their post weight or value that isn't there, and really, what difference does it make when any one individual quits? The forums are a vocal minority in any game, so for all we know, for every 1 player that quits, 2 more start playing. Can't please 'em all.
  6. Boxed expansions are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Companies are rapidly embracing the idea of F2P mechanics and DLC (including downloadable expansions and digital copies of the base game). More and more games are now storing data in the cloud and retail sales of titles are dropping off. Just because an expansion doesn't come in a box doesn't mean it isn't an expansion of the game. That kind of thinking is rather archaic at this point. F2P is the future, at least for now. It's proving to be a highly profitable method for companies to release content rather than through a subscription. Judging F2P games by how many subscribers they have is an inaccurate way of judging how well a game is doing. I'm actually quite impressed with how many players I see in the game on a daily basis. They enrich the game, whether they're subscribed or not. The only bottom line for the developer is if the F2P people are buying things in the store. Expansions can provide a wide array of content. Whether it contains a new planet, new character creation options, or just new gear, what an expansion contains is entirely up to the developer and their vision of the game. Will we see another expansion for SWTOR? I hope so. That depends entirely on how well their business model is doing. My 2 cents. Thanks for reading.

    OK...

Yep. I've had some issues with my computer not being recognized a few times. The emails always came instantly for me though, so I haven't had an issue.
  8. Heh, interesting. I actually didn't know, since this is my only female character. Good to know!
  9. When I first got a speeder I was also super confused as to how to access it. Glad to see I'm not the only one... As mentioned above, hit P to bring up that menu and click the vehicles tab, then drag it to an action bar slot/keybind it if you want. Happy speeding.
  10. This is an interesting topic, because I had no problems making my female BH look tough and not ridiculous. Coming from other games where female armor generally looks like a bikini, this was a nice change of pace. I'm finding that most armor choices are fully covering my character (wow, what a novel idea, right?), and they make her look tough. The voice acting for the human female actually really fits with the style I wanted to make her, which is a no-nonsense, I'm in charge here attitude, so I couldn't be happier.
  11. Just wondering if there are any plans to be able to switch, remove, or stop displaying the mask you chose at character creation for Miraluka characters. When I first created the character, it seemed pretty cool, now I'm wishing I had made a human, because this mask is getting really old. It goes underneath hoods, etc. and it's becoming a real eyesore. I would love an option to turn it off or change it. Any word on this? Thanks.
  12. That's sort of sad to see so many people flat out refusing to heal until you get mouse over macros and other customizations. Ever heard of sucking it up? Besides, isn't half the challenge...the challenge of it? I know I don't play this game, or any game for that matter, to sit idly by and have the computer do most the work for me. I enjoy the challenge of adapting to whatever system is in place and making the most of it. Just my two cents.
