  1. "They made a really big, risky game..." Ha! Now, that's a joke. Guessing whoever wrote that article has a sense of humour. The game is big, yes, but the mechanics are more or less copied from WoW. Where is the risk?
  2. /Signed. I think starting at 20%, then having it increase by 4% every time an RE fails, so the highest number of times you'll have to RE something is 20. By the time you've made and RE'd 20 items, you've already spent loads on mats, and already spent a lot of time crafting (Assuming RE'ing blue > purple). RE'ing green items are cheaper, but should be the same. I'd also like to see a way of removing patterns from your crafting list. Say I unlocked all blue and purple armour mods for my level, I'd like to be able to clear the blue and green version sfrom my craft skill list.
  3. The headline isn't exactly accurate. In short, someone forgot to pay the rent on their space station. This led to people being able to invade them, or something like that. I don't play EvE, so I don't know exactly how this works. Anyways, a couple of alliances teamed up and attacked. The owner of the space station pulled their own fleet in to defend, and it turned into a battle that involved over 4000 players, and saw enough ships destroyed that the total cost of the war was around $200,000. The biggest previous large scale encounter wrecked a total of 12 Titan class ships. This one destroyed 75, plus hundreds of smaller craft. One Titan alone was worth $5,500. The costs are based on the exchange rate between $ and PLEX, which is the EvE in game currency and can also be used to pay for a monthly subscription (which is why we can work out an exchange rate).
  4. /Signed. If we don't get new class content, I suspect I won't be the only one leaving once I've seen all the class stories I want to.
  5. I disagree with you here. The definition of griefing includes the caveat "in order to spoil their enjoyment". The so-called 'griefers' in this thread (or at least, the half of the posts that I read) have sadi that the reason they are infecting others is for a quest, achievements, and so on. Not to spoil others' fun. So, by definition, the 'event lovers' are not griefers. And this is coming from someone who isn't too keen on the event. I think it's a pain in the *** unless you are level 55.
  6. I loved this decision in the game. it was one of the few moments I've had playing TOR when I've looked at the options and thought 'Ooh, moral dilemma'.
  7. Guardian is your traditional 'Warrior Tank'. He runs in, hits things, gathers aggro and keeps it. Shadow is a 'Stealth Tank'. Great for getting into position before the attack, and has some reasonable CC-style abilities (not stuns and the like, more ways of gathering up the scattered mob so they are all hitting the Shadow, and are all close by). Vanguard is the 'Ranged Tank', even though nearly all fo the tnaking abilities they use need to be less than 10m away from the target, some even closer. Out of all the tanks, this one is my favourite by far. Having ranged attacks opens up lots of new options that you just don't get with the others.
  8. Everyone seems to be forgetting about Nox's best weapon against the Consular. In taking her palce on the Dark Council, Dark nox became the Master of the Pyramid of Secrets. The Pyramid of Secrets is the branch of the Dark Council that deals with all those ancient secrets of the trade that the Sith and Jedi both love to collect. Even if they were evenly matched, chances are Nox would find something in the Pyramid which would help her against the Bar'Senthor.
  9. Good article. Accurate, funny, and completely wrong. Brilliant. Can we have this as an in game title please?
  10. I still support Elvis as a Sith. Lord Elvis sounds better than Master Elvis. Even if 'The King' is a legacy title.
  11. I never said anything about wanting to craft the best level gear. My comment was solely on people saying they do the Ops because it gives them better gear. That kinda defeats the point of playing a game to begin with. A game is something you play for fun, not to grind until you get the next bit of kit. The only time I mentioned crafting the top end gear was asking if players would still do Ops if the best gear was crafted. I agree with you about rewarding people for doing multiplayer content in an MMO though, but all a reward should be is encouragement, not necessary to continue your career.
  12. The only characters that I've put this much thought into was my Inquisitor, Szatha, and my Jedi Knight, Szathan. Warning. There are slight spoilers in here. When she was young, Szatha was a slave. Abused by her owner, he got her pregnant. During a very difficult childbirth, Szatha died, but was resuscitated. When she was dead, she had a vision, telling her that if she wanted ultimate power, she had to give up the child. She named her new son Szathan, then handed him to a fellow slave, and only saw him again once, many years later. Several years later, at the Dark Council's request, Szatha found herself attending the Sith Academy on Korriban. Meanwhile, her son had found his way to the Jedi Order, and was being raised by them. With the 'assistance' of Darth Zash, Szatha found her way into the circles of power, eventually earning herself a place on the Dark Council itself. Years past, until one day, a badly wounded Jedi was brought before the Council, claiming to have done the impossible and killed the Emperor. Much to Szatha's shock, it was her son, Szathan, given up many years ago. Now her vision made sense. Give up her son for ultimate power. He killed the Emperor, leaving a vacant seat. Szatha was the one that took her son's life in revenge for the Emperor's death. Over the next few weeks, several members of the Dark Council died mysteriously, adding to the voices in Szatha's head, and eventually, the Emperor's throne was hers. Along with his personal space station, Szatha also inherited the Emperor's records and, by extension, his plots to destory the galaxy. Of course, Szatha quite liked the galaxy. It gave her something to play with, so rather than destroy it, she toned down the former Emperor's plans to domination. She was eventually killed a few hundred years later, by a bunch of do-gooders, after they foil her plans to destroy the Republic.
  13. Do you not have the Knight and Trooper the wrong way around? I found the Knight storyline to be really boring because every planet was exactly the same mission. Literally. That is all but the entirety of the Jedi Knight storyline. If the JK storyline is considered to be KotOR3, then the KotOR brand has been severely let down. I do, however, agree with you about the Inquisitor. I loved that storyline. It was crazy, yet exactly what you would expect for someone being raised froma slave to use the Dark Side. DS Inquisitor did come across as being somewhat sadistic, but in such a fun way.
  14. I have a Vanguard Trooper, a Shadow and a Sage Consulars, and am now levelling a Scoundrel. Trooper: I thought this was rather fun. Very survivable class with decent damage, even specced to be a tank. The storyline is a bit bland, but not bad. It does however have what I consider to be the best mission in the game (that I've seen so far). Consular: I'm probably in the minority here, but I enjoyed the Consular storyline. It gives you a good look at a Consular's duties, even if this does make it feel slightly disjointed, almost like you are playing three different games with the same character. I have a Sorceror healer too, so I can tell you that Consulars can make awesome healers. Smuggler: Probably the best dialogue, and probably the best combat move (Hoof In The Nads). I'm only just coming up to the end of chapter one though, so can't really comment much on the story. It has been entertaining enough so far though. So far, my Scoundrel is making a pretty good healer.
  15. It's sad whenever I hear someone make this argument. Why should you do any content in the game? Fun. That is why you play MMOs, right? So what if the best gear doen't come from Ops bosses. If people enjoy doing the Ops, they will still do them. Or, are people really so sad that the only reason they do endgame content is because they get some pretty pixels at the end of it that are better than the pixels their character is already wearing?
