  1. Make friends + care less about winning = more fun.
  2. Probably more of a 'lore' or character topic, but I like the idea. There's, apart from solving faction balance a great chance for some extra 'feel' and 'immmersiveness' for your character, with minimum development recources. My problem is: I never get invited to the dark council on my Assassin, nor do my warriors get to speak with the emperor. After fifty it's mostly pvp, gear grind and instances. The story is done for. But, it is a WAR we are in, so why is there no-one from the opposing side trying to convince me to change faction? I am superpowerful, am I not? You told me yourself! Let's take the consular as example. How cool would it be if you get contacted by Zash (who is obviously having her own dark plans and secrets) to do some stuff to overthrow sith lord xxx and gives you a reason or quest that eventually lets you 'fall'. Meaning you will reset your light side points and travel to Korriban to meet up with your new master. At that point, you will start off as the apprentice of Zash and you will follow the inquisitor's storyline. Yes, you will be madly overpowered, but you will only be doing your class missions to complete your path as a member of the empire. But, to prevent switchers you will only be able to join warzones, flashpoints etc on the impside after you finished the entire classquest-line. Probably needs an extra delay as well, before you get contacted again by the opposite faction to turn back. But hey, I'm not the one making the game eh. And yes, your companions will stay behind and you will get new ones. And yes, your former teammates and friends in warzones will be your enemies from then on. Damn, I'd love that And, (as an extra bonus) playstyles will stay the same: Sentinels will still fight their sentinel way, as marauders will continue to play theirs when they're turned, etc. Like someone said before: Bounty Hunters will fight for who pays best (and the rest of the story is up to you) and I can imagine a commando going bounty hunter, after he became bored of the pub army. Sure, there'd be some problems with trainers and skills, but again, not my problem in this scenario And sure, there will be -force related- discrepanties like lightning and pebbles and force choke. Maybe those should be be relearned. I would definately have a go at it. I started playing pub side with some characters, but the light side 'goodietwoshoe-stories' made me vomit rainbows. But if I don't have to level anymore and give my characters more depth this way, It's starting to become interesting. Long story and in wrong forum, but you got me enthousiastic here. edit addendum: I would NOT use light / dark side points in any way to be of influence or benchmark (when you reach lvl xx you will be turned") on a scenario like this. Some of the answering options are so stupid that I often don't click them. Sometimes with my eyes closed, when I really need the points. edit 2: make the invitation by the opposing faction a cartel market item. That will probably get your attention. I'd appreciate a percentage of the sales.
  3. 1) Deliberately being bad: - chatbox generals with rediculous stupid tactics - people farming medals at NC node thinking that it's no more use (with 30% left), - people who still don't know that 'delaying their cap' at AH is only a good idea if you can actually delay it the entire round or cap and hold - Chuck Norris pugs (we have two nodes, instead of guarding, they decide we need three) - Racing away from node so they don't have to guard (and so, your healer may be stuck guarding). This includes after initial cap and the overcompensating of an "inc" call, where the entre team rushes away to "help". Passive stupidity and bad gear will hopefully vanish after time. So I don't mind that as much, we all had to learn how 2 play So, I only hate one thing about pvp
  4. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that the games are objective based and a lot of people want to play FFA. They want to go in, have chuck norris lightsaber fun and leave. Unfortunately it's not how pvp works in this game. There's objectives and you need half your brain and a team to win. That said, I really dont understand why people choose to pug exclusively. Every character I levelled, or am levelling, I meet nice, decent playing people in warzones and questing. And I always add them to my list for a future match. Because it's more fun not having to eat my keyboard out of frustration because of all the mistakes the FFA-players make, in this objective based game. Simple as that. Maybe a suggestion could be to implement group finder for pvp, if matchmaking is too hard to achieve. If there's two groups with a semi decent setup in a team, they're one step close to being competitive. People don't have to use it. But they have a better chance on a good game and thus; some fun, if they will. And as a bonus: you meet some people you know you can rely on. And guess what? You can add them to your friendslist, to make the groupfinder wait shorter the next time.
  5. Well, in a way I have to agree with OP. The best teams on my server are the ones who have their cc perfectly timed. But that's from my point of view as a melee nurse killer, that's my job. The oppositions job is to lock me down asap. So in a way you could say that how well you play in pvp in swtor is how well you manage cc on the opposition.
  6. The ugly guy is right. I always pvp with friends (guilded and nonguilded) and we are on TS. Hardly a premade, since every class and every gearset is welcome. But ok. Let's call us 'premaders'. Just a heads up, to all you complaining people, who rather cry on the forums than take some time and patience to learn mechanics on this game: It's always us capping in Novare when you are fighting away from the bunker, it's us that guard doors in VS and sidenotes in alderaan. We're the ones staying behind when the entire team dashes off to the "inc 1 snow"-call. We're the ones that going for help, when no-one in the team reacts to the "inc 1 snow"-call. And yes, we're pretty good in huttball as well. Well, we've been playing that for over a year now. You see? Are we 'good'? Are we 'steamrolling'? Nope, we're having fun, goofing on TS and saying 'ok, I need help on east'. (little sidetrack here: I don't call out in /ops anymore. Because the chance is nodes are left unguarded). Yes, we have a lot of experience (long time players) and no, we don't like to lose when there's no reason to. So. No, we don't have a problem carrying your chuck norris-wannabe, zerg mid-mentality, solo-medalfarming butts to a chance on victory. Extra information: 1: we don't have enough players to play ranked all the time. We'd rather play ranked all the time, since our community agreed on 'no bubblepop' and only one smasher per team in ranked matches. 2: We hardly steamroll games. It's impossible with a premade of three or four. If the other four know how the game works, fine. Otherwise we're mostly fixing what others screwed up. 3: And frankly, we're not that good. We just know what to do. If you would too, you'd be complaining less about premades. So in conclusion: if you're with a premade group, you can bet there's a lot going on behind te scenes, while you are mesmerised by your strive for damage numbers. We all had to learn mechanics, and we sucked at warzones as well. It's ok. But please stop crying here and learn how warzones work. Have fun, gg.
  7. Just a reaction to the title and op: There is so much bad playing people in warzones nowadays, that whenever I see a player that I can tell knows what he is doing, I'm adding him to my friends list and sometime invite him to group. Is that a premade? Sure. But I'd rather limit my chances on a game with lots of frustration. My time is scarce and when I play I want maximum enjoyment. So yeah, I premade, with guildies and friends who aren't in my guild. Not to roflstomp the opponent, but to have fun in this game. And that's the sole purpose of a game, to have fun. It's not losing I mind. It's losing because of ending up in a team of complete idiots that makes me frustrated. And I don't want that. Oh yeah, and I enjoy playing with friends. That too. Make some friends, it will benefit you in lots of ways.
  8. Why not use valor as some kind of expertise mulitplier? Simple and linear example: your valor rank multiplies with a factor 20: 60 Valor would turn into 1200 exp Maybe get a progressing scale after that to keep the hardcore folk happy.
  9. I wish it was still feb 2012, where I was one of little marauders in the warzones. Because back then, people found it underpowered and hard to play. Imagine that Anyway, nerf the hell out of marauders and sents. I will keep on playing mine.
  10. I agree. The only thing I can imagine that would make guardians / marauders/ juggs/ etc a bit harder or diffirent to play is the fact that you're always at melee distance. Camera in this game is kinda 'meh', so yeah, first couple of times in an operation can be slightly difficult since you're missing some view on the total situation. Although zooming the cam out totally, helps a lot. And on a sidenote. I'm having SO MUCH FUN playing vengeance jugg in pvp. The toolbox one has is amazing.
  11. I think i might be an advanced class thing. I remember on my maurauder (uggh, back in february) having little difficulty on Draagh and a tougher time with Baras. TBH 'Voice of the Emperor' is the only real attack you really need to interrupt. For that you have disruption and choke. In general you have two more interrupts: intimidating roar and force push, but I'm not sure if they work in this fight. But I believe they do. Lol, so you brought in a 50, yourself and two companions to kill Baras. And you're posting it and call him a noob? /giggle
  12. Haha, I see. So the color of damage has nothing to do with it. I'll start using those throws earlier then as the finishing move! Thx for reply
  13. On top of the above, as a jugg in PVP you get a lot of (false) recognition as well. By getting three medals more than say your average marauder. Per match, for free. If you know how to guard and use taunt, you might even get four pretty easily (50K prot). Since people think that the number of medals is a representation of how good someone played, you get most mvp votes often in pugs as well.
  14. Suffer? Really? I see more people whining about feeling 'underpowered' when levelling and I really don't get it. Some tips that might help. Size up every encounter / situation before you charge in: - Wich ability is on cd - Do i have all my stims/ medpacks - Do I have the right companion with me In general - After every planet upgrade your stuff with mods from the commendations you've earned - Upgrade your companions - PVP! It's great for your skills/ reactionspeed/ judging and reacting to sticky situations (and it will get you some 'free' levelling so you'll get an extra level while levelling) IMO the pre50 route is just a way to enjoy the storyline and get your char to where the game really begins: at level 50. HOW you do it, is of no importance. So there's nothing bad in it being slightly overlevelled for some planets. And not bragging or saying I'm good or telling you to L2P, but while levelling my Vengeance Jugg I died once. At the endfight (ofcouse I'm not counting my pvp deaths): And please, don't use a word like 'suffering' for playing a game. Seriously.
  15. Heya people, I've been hitting 5K+ with saber throw, but I don't get a medal for it. Anyone know if it only gives out medals for yellow damage? Thanks
