  1. I wasn't a huge fan of either, but I did them for the novelty and "limited time only" loot. I guess I'm a good (bored) hamster. I disliked the Rakghoul Plague, because (as someone mentioned previously) you seemed to get rewarded for just standing around in a giant mosh pit on fleet, getting and infecting others. I had some distant hope that there would be some hidden reward for not getting infected (seemed much harder frankly), but alas...at least the quests were something to break up the grind. The Grand Acquisitions Race had an interesting premise and nice cut scenes to dress them up, but (for the most part) I found the quests themselves extremely underwhelming. WAY too much admission line format. The robot race was the worst. Scores of people massed around a box futilely clicking in hopes their number would come up so they could take their turn on the 10 second ride. On the other hand, there were some interesting elements (like sabotaging the phone booth), which I enjoyed. I just wish they were presented better, or, minimally, in a way that didn't cause hair pulling frustration.
  2. Actually there is a point. Customer Service has specifically said to voice our feedback on this issue here. That's what the OP (and others are doing). If you don't like it, move on instead of trolling. If you don't care about your character name, well that's just roses for you. Others do and that doesn't make their opinion any less valid just because you, your wife, and your uncle's second cousin once removed, lost a name and happen not to care.
  3. Well said, OP. I haven't gone so far as to unsub, but I agree this process was handled poorly.
  4. The "you weren't forced" argument is a joke. No one in their right mind is going to stay on a server once Bioware has sounded the death knell. Shadow Hand certainly wasn't packed, but it was perfectly viable (at least on the Empire side) - especially at peak hours. Now it's going to be a grave yard. This is a server MERGER not some goodwill transfer. Any argument otherwise is just blind. If I lost my name to someone who had is longer, so be it. Name poachers, dead accounts, and plain s* luck to have created on (what turned out to be a destination server) are poor ways to lose the identity of a toon I've had since day 1. If first names have to be unique, Bioware should have either merged to a NEW server, so it could be a true first come/first serve or done it based on seniority.
  5. +1 to the OP. In a MMORPG, the toon is everything - even more so for those who enjoy the RP aspects of the genre. The cosmetic aspects become important. The name, more than any piece of eq we can grind for, IS the toon. For those who care less, that's just spiffy for you. Some of us actually like our toons not named DarthSatan or RickyBobby. Some of us *gasp* actually like playing the game as a character and playing to the "4th pillar" of story. If they were going to force server merges (and that's what this is - no one is going to play on an empty server that's obviously being phased out) then they should have either started a new server and unleashed the transfer horde at the same time to make it a true first come/first serve or simply done it based on seniority. I have less problem losing my name to an active player that has been here longer than me, but losing it to a name poacher, someone who isn't even active anymore, or someone lucky enough to create on the target server - kind of ticks me off.
  6. My head gear also disappeared from my toon. Tried toggling the option on/off, but no change. I'm wearing Reinforced Chanlon Headgear (orange) for what it's worth. I want my mask back!
  7. Are there any plans for real companion quests, as Bioware has done in the past with franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age? Substituting real quests with awkward and jarring fade to black time lapses in conversations was a let down and felt incomplete.
  8. Posted this in the suggestions thread, but it quickly got buried: I too would like to see real companion quests that we can actually execute when we hit the designated affection level, not simple fade to black dialogue moments. Bioware has done this in many of their other games, I'm not sure why it was omitted in this one. Especially since questing is so central to the MMO genre. Seemed the perfect fit. I get the fade to black moments during the "under the sheets" bits, but I would have loved to accompany Jaessa as she hunts rogue Sith or Quinn as he tracks down an old enemy. Not just hear about them after an awkward fade to black that seems disjointed and incomplete. Certainly those would have been infinitely more interesting than the standard-fare side quests that get increasingly dull as the game wears on. And, regarding our love interest, can we get a real "closing" to the marriage arc? I didn't even know I was married until I started receiving letters from my "wife". Apparently "one thing at a time" translates into "yes, I'll marry you...this second". Would have been nice to have a cut scene there as a reward, similar to Ep II.
  9. Obviously too late for current companions, but for the future ones in the works I'd like to see real companion quests that we can actually execute when we hit the designated affection level, not simple fade to black dialogue moments. Bioware has done this in many of their other games, I'm not sure why it was omitted in this one. Especially since questing is so central to the MMO genre. Seemed the perfect fit. Would have loved to accompany Jaessa as she hunts rogue Sith or Quinn as he tracks down an old enemy. Not just hear about them after an awkward fade to black. ...and while we're at it, can we get a real "closing" to the LI arc? I didn't even know I was married until I started receiving letters from my "wife". Apparently "one thing at a time" translates into yes, I'll marry you...this second". Would have been nice to have a cut scene there as a reward.
  10. I'd love to see this (and know how many models exist). I'm obsessively collecting the full mod-able lightsabers and it's great fun to see the different pommel and grips. No idea how many oranges there are in the game world, though. I may need a bigger bank bay
  11. Level 43 Juggernaut (1st day early access) and generally loving it.
  12. Thanks for coming. Have a cookie. Your troll wisdom is awe inspiring
  13. Thanks for the tip. When we clicked the mouse buttons, it just knocked us off the turret. Will trying just holding it down if I ever try this again.
  14. Yeah - as the tank I was wondering how to protect our healer in that scenario. I ended up shooting my bugs and then desperately aimed at some of his to help, but this is a mess from the first encounter. Practice makes perfect is one thing, but when it takes 1500-2000 gold each death to repair your eq, and the deaths are largely because of lack of tool tips and overall quest design, forget it. Dying because of poor team work is one thing. I can accept that. Dying because the developers don't tell you the custom controls for their mini game(s) is just badly done. I like the idea of this flash point (heck - once I understood the controls, I was having a ton of fun), but the execution...boy. Sadly, we never did get past the first encounter. Half the group quit straight away out of frustration. I cringe to think what the rest is like.
  15. This flash point needs some serious instructional prompt. My group entered this for the first time, expecting a PvE battle. Instead we open with 4 turrets. Well...that could be kind of cool. I'm all for something different. We hop on, triggering the assault, and then promptly wipe because we have no idea how to shoot the damn things. Given previous game play mechanics (i.e. PvE combat, space battles, etc.) we were trying to swivel with the mouse and shoot with the mouse buttons and/or space bar. Stupid us for assuming that Bioware would use established game play controls. Worse, using the mouse actually knocks you off the gun. We wiped twice simply because we couldn't figure out the controls. A simple "Gun will auto fire. Swivel with movement keys" prompt before the battle started would have worked wonders.
