  1. Yes I am tired of it but they can hardly ban people from leaving until they allow you to choose which warzone you want to queue for. Even then you cannot ban for disconnects unless they can somehow tell if it was a disconnect done on purpose then yes by all means.
  2. scoundral. Smuggler darkside choices were hilarious, gear looks nice. You have female companion on courascent I believe, you get stealth, you heals and your pvp utility is good. Story is nice and picks up in act 2 if your looking for epic
  3. At level 28 I grabbed a smuggler chest piece from the tatooine vendor and have worn that, looks vaguely jedi ish minus the goggles though this only works if you are a sentinel. As a guardian I actually preferred moddable trooper pieces minus the helmet as opposed to the hoods. EDIT: will mention i stripped out the mods and replaced them as i had over 50 comms lol
  4. This is a very generic post, my post focusses solely on the gear not on abilities etc etc. If you want something sorted last thing you want to do is make a post that encompasses everything you ever thought needed changing. I zeroed in on this topic in the hopes we might get some consensus or maybe a dev post stating that they either don't feel it is an issue or that they are going to be looking into improving the players experience in relation to gear.
  5. dark jedi makes perfect sense, light sith imo less so but I am sure there is something to back it up. I do agree though it would be quite good fun to allow this to happen but then think about it. Your level 30 as a jedi and a decision turns you to the sith.......your skills would need to be changed and you would somehow need to integrate into the warriors story which at that level would be awkward to say the least Theoretically a sound idea, in practice not so much EDIT: companions would need to change as i doubt kira will go sith and then there is the whole issue of guilds losing members due to these choices creating an unstable community.
  6. Is this some kind of sick joke, do the developers think it is funny to give the republic some of the most outrageously heinous looking gear and then get one of our companions allude to all the fashion designers heading off to the empire. Level 20 as sentinel the pvp gear makes me look like a spandex clad superhero with a lust for pink. I cannot remember what level 40 was but I remember not being impressed compared to the marauder equivalent. Then at 50 I look like a futuristic samurai: sorry but the jedi have never in any EU content or in the movies ever worn such attire, hell I could have dealt with this if they had mixed it up with some kind of overcoat or robe or something similar and then actually it might have looked pretty cool. I can deal with heavily armoured guardians with cloaks, it makes for a reasonable medley however the constant hoods are annoying (nothing more awkward than a kissing scene with a hood on) and to end it off our headpieces look just as crap and or pathetic.......your going to make me wear a circlet or what looks like a bandanna made out of leather? Before anyone else comments yes i know i can turn the headpiece off but that does not work for the hoods now does it? Similarly trooper armour looks like the same armour with a few bits and bobs added to the shoulder but overall you could get low level oranges and they would not look so different from higher level oranges. I dealt with my armour looking lame by rationalising that this was just a crazy **** up by the art team and thought "with all the feedback they wont make that mistake again" but after this little gem I noticed a few days ago it got me thinking that actually someone on the team thought it was funny how bad our gear looked. In my mind a lot more imagination went into developing the empire gear, perhaps because the bad guy was easy to design for I don't know but just because republic are the good guys does not mean you have to take the bad out of bad *** when it comes to our gear. it seems you chose not to allow jedi to wear darker colours: why not? Look at anakin in episode three prior to darkside, he was allowed to where black so why not add some of that in there. Masks and such for jedi seem to be non existent and trooper head slots are generic, remember we have dark side jedi too and to my knowledge nothing says jedi cannot wear masks even if one might argue it makes it look like the jedi are hiding etc etc. I could talk about sage but one look at some of their outfits (head slots in particular) speak for themselves, just because they are supposed to be the scholars/politicians does not mean they should look like one. Perhaps it would be beneficial to get an official thread going allowing players to link to outfits/share design ideas that will help steer your design team in the right direction. I understand the look and feel of gear is down to personal taste but i think many share my thoughts on this matter. Why not create contests allowing players to design their own gear once and while and let the community vote on it, winner gets it implemented one gear set for each class. I don't know how practical this would be but input from the community sorely needs to reach your design team.
  7. It is also something I adhere too, it used to be common practice but alas how times have changed
  8. Absolutely absurd article devoid of any professional writing that you expect from someone claiming to be a professional writer. The grammar and spelling is absurd and this pretty much cements the idea in my mind that the this guy is only a professional writer in his. The content itself was inaccurate and many of these points that had some glimmer of fact were exaggerated to the point of bias. Comparing abilities from one mmo to another is always going to give you similar results. Every tank in every mmo that follows the holy trinity has a taunt move of some kind, a gap closer of some kind and a threat builder of some kind. The similarities between the gear are likely circumstantial, there should be no surprise that if you look over enough gear sets you will eventually find 2 sets that look similar although I am not going to contend any point made regarding how stupid some of this games gear looks lol. When I read about sorcerer and sage comparisons with shaman and priest I was under no illusion he has literally not played either of these 4 classes, I have played all 4 and can quite honestly say that you could likely argue sage and sorcerer feel vaguely close to a priest but no where near that of a shaman. The writer also alludes to 'the fact' that reviews are bias towards certain games/publishers and that SWTOR only got the reviews they did down to this. This is absurd and even if it were true even remotely then this argument becomes universal and holds true for any game released by any publisher furthermore if you want to see a bias review look no further than this. Lastly he alludes to the senior team being doomed to failure as supposedly they worked on warhammer: I could not possibly comment on this but from what I have read this is not even a confirmed fact and others seem to be chirping a different story. Again even if this was true should I take this logic to mean that people are incapable of learning from past mistakes? In conclusion this 'writer' should thank his lucky stars he is not a professional writer belonging to a company of any kind because I would imagine those individuals named in this article would have a good case for slander, in closing I would say to the writer: If you go for an interview do yourself a favour and pretend you never started this blog.
  9. So I am bored at work on my break and start reading posts on swtor as you do. I notice recently there are many posts on why players feel this is a single player game with coop functionality and well I feel the need to respond to this. Going back around 6 years or so some of you might remember an mmo called final fantasy 11, I had a fair bit of fun with it but levelling was unlike anything most of you have ever seen. If you wanted to level you could grind solo and end up ripping your eyes out or you could group with 4(iirc) other players and take down mobs one by one, if you took them down quick enough you gained an exp chain that multiplied your experience gain which allowed teams with skills to level reasonably. It was a lovely idea and I personally liked it as me and my friends had a blast trying to optimise the way we levelled but there was always one glaring issue......what happened when my friends were not online. Well being a dps I would wait for a hour or so for a group while feeling pretty much useless and then when I did get a group they normally sucked so much I would end losing experience (if you died you lost experience). This is something to my knowledge many early mmo's were modelled after and it was fun when you were in a decent team but infuriating when you could not find a party and thus the solo grinding option was introduced not only in wow but in most mmo's that have been released in the past 2 years. So people are saying that they feel like this is a single player game but I say to you: it is in your interest that up to level 50 you are able to level entirely on your own at your own pace and most importantly how you want to. Bioware has not stopped you from levelling with other people, you can and I have grouped with other players and done quest hubs together, the experience seems just as good as if I was solo it just means some quests take a little longer to do but most take less time. An MMO is an experience that is made by you the player, do not rely on bioware or any other company to force design decisions on you, take your play preference and make it work for you, you can play solo and you can play as a group with advantages and disadvantages to both styles. This game has not forced you to play solo from 1-50 it is has instead given you the ability to choose and that is absolutely the right way to go about it. Personally I think this is a great MMO with a lot to do if you think about it and engage yourself in various aspects of the game, I have played a plethora of these games and I must say that bioware developers have been very vocal and quick to respond to issues that have arisen. If I think about how the game was at EGA and how it is now I am pleased with what they have done and judging by that alone it wont be long before we have more group content available and more people to do it with. Does the game need work? Yes it does and no one not even the developers are in any doubt about that. Do players need to start taking a responsibility for their own enjoyment of the game rather than expecting the developers to enforce their playstyle on others? Yes, find like minded individuals, start a guild and profit people.
  10. It could be that they tested and determined the same level of mods for one class does not equate to the same benefits for another. So perhaps an agent getting mods of the same level gives you a noticeable benefit over other classes (ok might be a bit of a reach) either way I am sure there is some kind of explanation for this. That being said there is always the option of purchasing mods and seling them on gtn then buying the mods you require, this is what I do on my jedi knight and it has worked well, much of the time i come out with a small profit.
  11. Space bar is a good means for like minded players but it really harms a player if it is there first run through, the go go attitude I do not mind until it affects me, if it is my first run through then I will ignore the drooling bafoon shoouting to hit spacebar and enjoy the cutscene, if they replace me I /ignore and that is one less healer they have to rely on in the future. This however does not work well on my dps toon where you are much more vulnerable to being kicked for not rolling with the majority, in conclusion I think people should ask people to space bar but not demand it, if someone does not want to then I respect that and normally tell anyone that does not to **** and wait. People need to remember that most of us were sat there watching that cutscene once and we should as reasonable people give others the same courtesy
  12. All the more power to you then but then that would just indicate that in fact it is a server issue as opposed to a faction issue and yet contrary to that I see so many posts raging about a supposed faction imbalance causing republic to dive in warzones
  13. Ok let me first state clearly that this is not a rage post nor is it meant to offend so with this in mind I will not be mentioning any individuals nor will I be mentioning the server I have noticed this on. This post is solely to put my opinion forward that has been based on hours of playing pvp matches both as an imperial and a republic character as well as to ascertain as to whether there might be a consensus among players as to the validity of this argument. Over the past few weeks of playing I have noticed a great number of posts regarding the supposed faction imbalance between republic classes and their mirror and while I do not contest that there are glaring differences that potentially sharpen the edge of the empires team I do contest that this is what gives empire the edge in the first place. I am sure many of us have noticed that imperial pugs have a much higher win to lose ratio than that of the republic and I have asked myself many a time why this is so. I have come to the conclusion that this phenomenon is two part: 1. Typical class composition. 2. The type of player typically associated with each faction. On point number one it seems apparent to me that the empire side seems to lean towards having a much higher concentration of the same class, most notably sorcerers and mercenaries where as republic seem to lack this concentration of the mirrors. To go further into generalising this issue I see that actually most republic players are either not able or simply not willing to heal even if doing so makes sense where as the empire player base seem to have a plethora of classes able and willing to heal when the occasion calls for it. This results in less deaths and more sustained pressure against a republic team as well as condensing the empire's team into the required area while republic players through death are scattered about unable to focus on one objective and work with each other to complete aforementioned objective. This brings me nicely onto point two. The average imperial player is focused on winning, imperial players still strive to top that ever so coveted damage meter but are more inclined to go for the objective over personal gratification either because the typical empire player is a team player or because they realise that winning through objectives is so much more beneficial than the medals you would otherwise get. Imperial teams use /ops so much more frequently to communicate the state of play and actions that need to be taken to gain the advantage over the enemy where as I seldom noticed a republic team make any use of /ops to communicate anything other than blind insults, I might even go as far to say that republic players expect to lose from the get go and so do not even try to begin with. This lack of communication is a major flaw when looking at voidstar and civil war warzones because seldom will you see call outs for door defence/offence nor will you see incoming announcements in regards to turrets. Player position on republic side seems less concentrated and I tend to notice republic players being positioned erratically and crucially away from the overriding objective, I assume this is due to getting caught up in private battles so much so that there can on the rare occasion be 5 or 6 players mid turret and yet it will still be taken by a sneaky empire player. In conclusion I believe it is time to face a harsh reality and that reality is a reality many players are not going to like and I expect many forum posts to reflect this: republic players are just not as organised and not as focussed on the objective. Sure there are imbalances between mirror classes but I cannot escape the glaringly obvious truth that republic players are quite happy to enter a warzone with the intent on seeing how much damage they do and to hell with everything else. Am I wrong? Does anyone else have any anything constructive to say in response to this? I would welcome civilised responses but I would say that before we begin starting posts on mirror imbalances and blame that for causing such a high republic loss rate we instead look at the level of play we as a side are playing to and then realise that enough is enough: we need to improve.
  14. This issue is also quite profound in pugs i have played with, while i have no beef if the class in question is not actually present in the pug it is a problem when a sentinel takes a smuggler based item so they can get the look. The problem is jedi in particular are completly fed up of wearing the same rehashed hooded robes that obscure their hair choice and just look dull, the whole orange moddable gear is a failed attempt at implementing viable player choice in the way that they look. Furthermore this system is rendered completly void at 50 so if they addressed this and figured out a different way to let people choose how their character looks then this might avoid the nuances of having someone take your orange gear. Another solution is to get bosses to drop instance tokens that allow you go to a vendor and buy gear of your choosing without affecting other players.
  15. Sorry but you have not got the point. As far as I understand it there is a mechanic that with another player from the opposite faction you can exploit to loot the same lockbox over and over again. He was not banned for exploration or looting he was instead banned for using a game mechanic to obtain an unfair advantage which is punishable by a ban as stipulated in the EULA. Why would you thank someone that in no way wanted to point out a bug, if anything he/she wanted it to be kept a secret so they could continue to benefit from it; a thankyou is not needed if the persons sole reasoning for doing something was and is for their own ends. It is a fauly mechanic as far as i know, not a bug but I agree it does need to be looked at but by the same token anyone attempting it should be banned as it will adversely affect the games future.
