  1. There are a couple of items you will encounter while lvling which have alignment requirements, and of course the few non-relic items on LS/DS-vendors. There are a few achievements and titles that follow. Nothing that will impact your gameplay experience tho. If you care about achievements make sure ONE of your characters in each legacy gets D5 and L5. Most of my characters end up with something like -100 when I'm done with them, and I don't lose out on anything Regards TheLake
  2. The MK-10 Kits can be crafted by certain crew skills (at least the augments can, not sure if the kits themselves were crafted or found with slicing atm), but you will also be able to find them on the Galactic Trade Market. (Which will be the easiest way of doing it) Simply venture down to the GTN terminals on your fleet, search for "Augmentation Kit MK-10" and buy what you need. Then as mentioned earlier you have to find a modification table (there is one in the Stronghold and Crew skill area og the fleet). Hope that helped
  3. You can get an item on the fleet which turns it off for 8 hours. Just stockpile up like 10 and don't worry about the boost for a while (I don't remember exactly where it is, I'm sure someone else does tho)
  4. Great, thank you I assume I should use the operation dummy, but are any of the modules that changes its armor or health or anything like that necessary?
  5. Hello SWTOR forums! I'm an old player returning to the game. I have seen lots of people talk about parses for dps, especially in terms of OPS (as you would assume). When I played last our guild used TorParse and had the overlay in-game. We also used the website and kept track on our forum. I have not seen any mentions of TorParse lately so therefore I ask What is the most trustworthy/best parsing program at the moment? Does it support in-game overlay? And are there any special settings I should use when parsing? In addition, what dummy should I use while parsing, and should I use any of the new modules (they are new for me at least) Regards TheLake
  6. Thanks for clearing things up:) Been a tank myself since lvl 44 (that makes early January 2012) and have only read alot about the offensive stats, not been able to test them properly myself. Sorry for spreading misinformation (at least some) and hope this post then made it all clear. My point was still correct tho, even if the reason was abit off Stack accuracy till you got 100%-110% (either Melee-special melee/Force for force-users or Ranged-special ranged/Tech for the non-force users)
  7. Mostly correct, but felt I should jump in and correct the mistakes Bosses do not have any defense rating, but all elite mobs have 5% resist chance to force/tech dmg and champion mobs (like bosses) have a 10% resist chance to Force/Tech dmg. Melee and Ranged attacks have a base of 90% accuracy. This means you should get 10% more if you want to hit every single time. Force and Tech attacks have a base of 100% accuracy. Therefore you need none against mobs without a resist chance. For Elite rating mobs you should have 5% more in Force/Tech and for champion mobs (which is what you gear to beat in operations) you should get 10% more accuracy to hit every single time. As the quoted player wrote: Some people prefer to leave their accuracy a percent or two behind the "hit-every-single-attack" mark to stack more power. You can consult theorycrafters on this forum and oter forums to see if that would work for your spec When it comes to tanks: Taunts NEVER miss. Even with 90% to hit with an attacka tank should easily be able to maintain threat, and can use taunts to boost it in most fights IF he needs it. Everyone can get 1% accuracy for completing all the conversations with a melee tank companion and some can get more from their spec (3% for assassin tanks). A tank should focus on mitigation stats and no good tank has ever swapped in accuracy modifications instead of mitigation (defense, absorb and shield. Some would also include endurance, depending on which type of game they have tanked in before). Hope this helps
  8. As you pointed out: Before 2.0 you could craft the BiS gear and put it in free tionese for set bonus. No raiding required. In 2.0 you can get ultimate comms in weeklies (yes, it will take a long time if you are not raiding, but you have many weeks before new content) HM FP's drops elite because it's the next step in the progression. SM ops drop Arkanian and Black Market (elite quality) as well, but with set bonus (because it's the next step to HM/NiM ops). If you could easily acquire set bonus without raiding you could just do the weeklies and put it in the set bonus gear. Gongrats, you got BiS without raiding at all. It takes away the feeling of achieving something for the hard core raiders (or those closest to hard core in SWTOR). I support this, it gives semi raiders a set-bonus and they can get underworld gear, but their armoring will still be arkanian gear. Those who do not raid will not have the set bonus, but can still reach underworld quality gear. Those who raid and clear everything will get underworld gear with underworld armorings (and therefore set bonus). I'm no elitist, and I don't have any set bonus. I have yet to kill kephess HM (still I have done bosses in TFB HM). I have been playing since before launch and I got my first (and only) dread-guard piece 2 weeks before 2.0. I only have an arkanian implant so far from tokens, but I enjoy working for my gear and socializing in my casual guild. I chose to play the game like this, and I like what BioWare did. You get rewarded for what you do (and no insta-BiS for all alts if you only can play sorc healer aka. Legacy BiS from crafting) There goes our reason for supporting this system. Actually wanting to work for what you get is not something only those who have gotten it wants.
  9. I'm a Op healer and I lvl with a sniper friend. I have Biochem so I provide him with blue stims/medpacks and adrenals when I have spare materials. We have done Hammer station around 5-6 times with 2 random people. I find it hard to heal when the tanks position the AoE thru the whole group, but I can heal it, the AoE's can be ignored for a sec to finish a cast, if your healer can heal it (I stayed to finish a heal), the small adds should be a nobrainer, but in the last group we got neither the other dps or the tank took out the adds so I ended up dying due to ALOT of mobs on me and no aggro-reset (don't get combat stealth at this lvl). Disclaimer: This is meant to be "the instance is Do-able, and I'm glad you have to grasp the mechanics or at least to a certain degree know your class, you start to get the majority of your skills now, and should be able to know your class, just a little bit, at least". I got no legacy-gear or purples on this alt, all my gear is from the normal lvling and I did these runs of Hammer station between 17-20 with my sniper just 1 lvl behind me. I think it's fine, but understand if people have problems. I'm also not a person who has cleared al content. I'm one of 3 rutined tanks in our guild (1 of each class) 1 new jugg and 1 jugg alt. We have done Zorn and Toth HM 3 weeks in a row, but care mostly about being social as our guild is a social casual guild. So no, I don't have 16 chars in 50 and everyone is in full 61 with Kehess HM on farm. Everyone can do this, if they know the encounter
  10. When your alt hits 50 you can take that lightsaber to an augment table and upgrade the augment slot. All you need is a grade 6 augment kit (lvl 49-50) and some credits to pay for the installation fee Enjoy your new grade 6 augment slot. Feel free to put in ANY augment. In short: you can always upgrade an augment slot, the same way as you add it to a gearpiece without augment slot, but augmenting an item will bind it to you. Hope this helped. Feel free to ask more as I'll answer the best I can Lakes Peragus Mining Facility Cult Of Adas
  11. Glad my post was reasonable and that it was not flamed to the ground. I play a tanksin my self and in our raids I'm a bit short on gear compared to our other tanks, but I still have better tanking on some bosses, with equal gear I would see myself outperform them by a noticeable amount, not because of skill, but by class design, that is wrong imo and I'm glad they nerfed me to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. Maybe we will get some armor back, the notes are subject to change, but as long as we are viable for raiding and PvP, then I'm happy Lakes Peragus Mining Facility Cult Of Adas
  12. or, they think pyro dps and marauders are fine, that people still have to figure out how to counter them correctly. Assassins/Shadows are nerfed because they provided better active tankiness (when they attack, not while running) in PvE and PvP, and a tank-specced, but dps geared sin/shadow just put out too much dps considering their tankiness, they nerfed the tankiness, but the dps stays the same. I think it's perfectly fine, and of course, this is PTS patch notes and are subject to change Hope you can find my answer reasonable and we won't start a flame, "L2P", raging war on these forums. 13. Actually you don't, at least as far as I know. I read that your augment will adapt to the lvl of the gear. So if you have a "custom-built lightsaber" (lvl 20 custom lgithsaber), then that lightsaber will have augment slot lvl 2, because it is a "require lvl 20 item" and the crew skills have suggested lvls Grade 1: 10-16 Grade 2: 17-24 Grade 3: 25-31 Grade 4: 32-40 Grade 5: 41-48 Grade 6: 49-50 If you however put a lvl 44 augment into that lightsaber before 1.3, then the augment slot will upgrade to lvl 5 (41-48). You can at anytime also use a augment table to increase the rank of the augment slot. Hope this helps and if someone can correct me on something, feel free to do it. This is based on what I have read on the forums and I can't provide links to BW post. I apologize if my information here is wrong. Lakes Peragus Mining Facility Cult Of Adas
  14. There is a droid companion with +2 artifice and +2 cybertech. Those are the two only crew skills without a crit bonus. I think the droid was in the beta, but was later removed (can't confirm tho). Spoiler contains some more info on the droid: Read at own risk
  15. Content meant to be done at a lower level than you receive that companion will not give affection. Like: The Black Talon is a lvl. 10-12/13 ish. At that level range you only have your first companion, Khem Val in inquisitors' case. Also the bonus series on Alderaan gives no Ashara affection, because you get her later in the story between level. 32 and 36, even though the Alderaan bonus series is lvl 40, because Alderaan is level 28-32 no Ashara affection is given here. Hope that clears some confusion, but on Quesh and Hoth main quest and 1st run you should have no problems. PS: I got ashara affeection on Quesh, Alot of it.
