That's why I miss Everquest. Back then, (isn't so true now), but game started at level 1. There were tons of places to explore and group at every level. It wasn't about a rush to max level to do end game content. The content was every level.

I agree that big things start at level 1, and it's an important reason why this game has sucked me in to the extent that it has. I bought it nearly without knowing anything about it after reading some positive reviews from trusted sources, and I have been beyond pleasantly surprised.

edit: I see some people complaining about the length of dialog. I discovered a useful trick - press spacebar to skip through individual lines or movement scenes during dialogs.

the real game starts at level 1, ends at 50

the many things that were not thought out at level 50, like the lack of brackets, the ilum trade, the crafting mess (both slicing, and lack of benefits for non biochem people), the easiness of pvp gear vs pve gear, the balance of pvp vs pve gear (personally, they should have lower primary stat str wil aim cun etc, and have higher expertise)

all those things comes in at level 50 when you end your class quest, they put in so much money and effort to the leveling game, they neglected the end game...

In most MMO's the "Real" game does not start until you reach the highest level and begin running the "so-called end-game content". Take the king of MMOS, WoW, as an example. The road from 1-85 is an excruciating one where nothing you do will have any impact on your toon at level 85. It is called a "grind" for a reason. WoW is not the only culprit here. Most MMOs follow this same broken paradigm.

SWTOR breaks the paradigm and sets a new one.

In SWTOR the "Real" game starts the moment you see the first cut-scene of your character. Starting at level 1 the decisions you make FORM your character. Each mission, each answer you chose has an impact. The game starts at level 1 -- not at the level end-cap! People, this is HUGE! It is genre-setting! It blows away the current MMO paraqdigm of grinding to end-cap levels.

This is why SWTOR succeeds. It is ground breaking in its approach. It amazingly combines the single player aspect with the MMO one. Dont let the complainers fool you either. There is an absolute TON of group content in this game. Yes -- It is an MMO in every aspect of the word EXCEPT it breaks the grind.

Your SWTOR life begins at level 1.
This is only true for a new MMO.

In 2-3 years time when mos tplayers still around have level 50s or 60s by then..who knows. This game will become basically what WoW is now. Only about the end game. People will spacebar through life in this game.

Other MMO's actually don't really have "end game" either. All they do is make their players repeat the last 2 pages of a book. And funny enough, some players think that anything repetitive is grinding, but exclude this excuse for end game from that definition, which is extremely repetitive by nature, even more repetitive than leveling the same class 5 times in TOR would be..

Yes, but with the end of Chapter 3, you're pretty much waiting in limbo till the next expansion. I was incredibly reluctant to do the last step in my Storyline because of that -- thereafter, anything else I do will have next to no relevance to the things I did to help change the world, and I'm just a generic schlub rather than the protagonist of my own saga.

(I'm not knocking what Bioware have done, but the completion of Chapter 3 and the Romance leaves a yawning void that a few in-game emails just don't fill (and even those will be auto-deleted in a few more days too).

I agree with the OP. My usual playstyle in MMO's was to grind out mobs and quests in the hope of reaching the high end content. In SWTOR I am compelled to play to advance the story. There are many who want to return to the grind they are comfortable with, and there are many outlets for them already, but I for one hope future games take a page from this book.

All games will get to this point. Once you reach top level and don't feel like grinding out the same stuff over and over you find very little reason even to log in. I for one have alts that I'm advancing. I've actually been surprised by how much I like playing some of the other classes that I wouldn't have normally considered.
