Weapon Apparence

Simple idea , but since we can actually use apparence customization for clothes and armor why couldn't we just use the same process for weapons ?

Could also extend the apparence of weapons outside our character range , like equiping
- a rifle for Bounty Hunters / Smuggler
- Blaster pistols for SoldiersSecret agent
- All styles of lightsabers for jedi/sith.

Sure it would need some fixing on the animation thing but some NPC already use some classes abilities without the class weapon.

What do you think ?

It's a simple idea that people have been asking for ever since Outfit Designer was released. Lots of people think it's self-evident that it should be *part* of Outfit Designer, but they are wrong. It should be its own set of tabs so that the two things can be switched independently (and perhaps also locked together with a toggle).

The internal technicalities, apparently, are *not* simple, which is why we don't have it all these years later:
* mismatched weapons (look of a blaster rifle and use of an assault cannon, look of dual pistols and use of a sniper rifle, that sort of thing) probably wouldn't happen because they'd have to add all sorts of new animations for it.
* for Force user classes, even staying in the same weapon (one-handed single-blade sabre look and use, say) would cause oddities because of differences between back-carry and belt-carry weapons.
* some other technical stuff that they hinted at but didn't discuss.

To go to Belsavis, you must go to Belsavis.
I never had a Fine Mithril Sword of a very powerful glorious invincible hero scout with ruby inlays and platinum engraving in June language

I think this falls in the same boat as most suggestions... It can be done, people would be happy with it but Bioware doesn't have the motivation or resources to make it happen because its not "simple" ask. It would take some time, resources and a particular skill set to make it happen.

Regardless of the recent spike in Star Wars activity BW/EA seem to have a very minimal interest in increasing resource allocation to this game...Kinda seems like they are fine with minimal investment and staffing.

I think the first time I posted a suggestion about removing weapon restrictions on Light sabers for force users and blasters for non force users was in the first couple years of the game (many others had already suggested it).

If I recall they were looking into adding a weapon slot to the vanity tab but it went awry and they bagged it rather than pressing on. Not sure of the details as I was not playing during the time it was being considered.
I want my SWG...

A big problem aside from desire/resource allocation comes in two forms:

1. Virtually every developer who created the original code of the game is gone.
2. Trying to add systems on to the game is very likely to break other systems, considering how much of this game seems to be... tenuously held together, so to speak.

Obviously the devs had made lots of great progress in optimizing the ending, providing QOL, etc etc, but these things are clearly an uphill battle with the engine/base coding/the game itself, so I can't blame them for running into a wall on some issue, realizing that it's breaking some system, and deciding it's not worth it.

i would love to be able to change to the colors of the weapons themselves though some of the dyes would be horrible options for weapons. But i also seemingly remember them mentioning when they were releasing the iokath bosses they were going to release sound effect modifications for weapons as well and never did probably because of the varied types of weapons only certain 1s of those would work with certain types of weapons so they probably changed their minds on that in the process.

allow us to make characters more our own rather than following what everybody else is doing. both of those would be interesting for weapons we already have tunings and crystals so weapons could ultimately be even more shifted. and why not just go ahead and remove stats from crystals and move the stats to gear of that lvl if they are going to do outfit designer with weapons soonish like they said last yr they were going to do after onslaught was released removal of crystal stats is the way they should go.
