Dear Musco and Co.

Do you remember when you guys thought grinding for pvp was too much?

Here is an official excerpt from the swtor community news on 01/06/2015.

PvP Gear Cost

We think that getting a full set of PvP gear is too much of a grind. This is so much the case that only about 2% of PvP players have a full Dark Reaver set. Having at least Exhumed gear is a barrier to entry to being successful in PvP for the majority of players, so we looked to reduce the time and cost of getting there. We have reduced the entry PvP gear costs by roughly a third, and a full set (not min/maxed) will now cost about 4075 Warzone Commendations. For the Dark Reaver/Ranked set we didn’t reduce the price as much, but Ranked Warzone Comms will no longer be used to buy them; pieces will now be purchased with Warzone Comms and the previous tier gear piece. (Ranked Warzone Comms have been removed from the game, but we’ll touch on that more in the Ranked Reward changes found below.) A full Ranked Gear set will now cost about 16,525 Warzone Comms, much less than the current price of around 29,000 Ranked Comms. The exact prices are still being finalized, but this is the spirit and intent of the changes to PvP gear prices that you'll be seeing. In addition, the character cap for Warzone Comms will be raised to 200,000 and the Daily/Weekly Missions will have increased Credit rewards. These changes will make it easier and faster to gear up and get to a competitive level in PvP. Our hope is that the reduced grind makes for a more enjoyable Warzone experience.

You guys understood this in 2015. You understood we wanted to have fun playing pvp in your game. You understood that reduced grind was more enjoyable.

SO, What has happened since 2015 to make you do a 180” turn and make the grind even worse than when you said it was bad for pvp?

We had a perfect gearing system under 4.x and you ruined it with 5.0. Then you release 5.10 and the grind is even worse than 5.0.

Seriously, why dont you learn from past mistake or your successes. Why do you flush your success down the toilet and then make the same mistakes over and over.

Some times it feels like you have game developer Alzheimer’s and forget the history of your own game.

Short answer: Employee turnover.

Their story writers have come and gone, so we can be forgiven if we suspect that so have their other content developers such as those currently supporting PVP.

Except for Musco, as far as the rest of them goes, my best first guess is that they don't remember 2015 because they weren't here in 2015...

...and subsequently don't care about the state of the game in 2015.

Goal posts since 2015 been moved though. At that time, population was higher and I assume they had more resources at their disposal then, at least they had stuff on the shelf they could pull off and use.

Now, 3-4 years later the population is a sliver of what it was back then. Now, they have no content or ideas sitting on the shelf so to speak, and so to stretch "content" out they (because I don't know who comes up with game design here) are using the easy route of super lengthy grind to give the players stuff to do.

Unfortunately, because they combined PVP and PVE gears as one now, the issue here is the philosophy they once had for PVPers and their special expertise stat gears went out the window. Longevity of the game in their eyes is more important than trying to appease a minority niche group like PVPers.

To make gear grinding easier for PVPers they will have to either make grinding easier for the PVE crowd too, or bring back expertise so they can add a simpler form of grind for the PVPers.

Wow 2%? I have Dork Reaver on multiple toons.

I must have pvp'ed a lot back then. RIP ODC (Outlaws Den's Chosen).
