Why does it matter that it's a physical object? Every time you go to the hub you don't have any more chance with whatever "actress" than I have with my Arcann romance. But it doesn't stop you from going there frequently.

Nothing about a video game exists. Not the combat, not the world, not the weapons, not the journey, not the characters, etc...so why do people get so passionate about them? Same with movies, TV shows, and so on.
