It certainly would free up a lot of resources. I'll have a gander and see about it when I upgrade my HDD.

i am really enjoying the OS, there are a few MMO's which are playable on it. STO, GW1-2, Neverwinter, EVE. to name a few. but if your looking for a casual game still in alpha that will have a Linux port and a very budget friendly buy in...

https://theuniversim.com/

it has starting $34USD pack and you can play in the alpha and beta. i have been waiting for a game like this for years, the community is really good too. anyhow hope you enjoy it if you decide to go that route!

It depends on what you're looking for in an MMO.

I for one find it difficult to get into any other MMO other than SWTOR.

It's not perfect. It has its problems. But it does more important things right.

I may still be able to suggest something, but I have no clue what you want. Most of them are "WoW clones" anyway.

Personally, my biggest issue is that I don't like so called "action" MMOs. If I wanted to play a shooter, I'd play a shooter....not a shooter disguised as an MMO. I like my tab targeting, skill bar, and other shinies.

I live the story, the game world and the graphical style of TSW; but even after the recent relaunch I am still not sure the combat mechanics, and skill management thing works for me.

You know I always thought Vampire: The Masquerade would make for a good MMO.

Any you haven't yet. Not being smart, I just mean it all depends on what you like, how active you are in them, and what you are expecting from them. All get old. Now days they seem to get old much faster than back in wow vanilla / BC days. But maybe that's just me. With all the toxicity online and in games, it seems more are opting for single player or core group gaming to avoid the masses in massively. ESO is good right now. But I have to add DON'T LEAVE SWTOR for it. Try it, but yeah....hurry back.

At least i'm not very optimistic anymore.
For Pantheon, for some reason I get the feeling that it will not be a game for everyone. But, for a certain group of people, they will love it, and the team making Pantheon, they will take care of the game. I don't expect it to be a WoW killer.

I think of it like This. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies are for a general audience. And, judging from box office numbers and critical response, a general audience likes MCU movies. WoW is the MCU. Pantheon is like Watchmen (2009). It's definitely not for everyone. But, it will appeal to a certain group of people, and those certain people will love it.

They've already stated in their FAQs that the game is meant to be played with others and that it's a social game. So, that already distances itself from the solo players.
For any MMO, I myself am not necessarily looking for "the next best thing". I'm just looking for a decent game that has a team that wants to support said game. Just based on how Pantheon's development has been going so far, it looks like they are on the right track.
Now, as to whether they can stay on that right track is something that only time will tell.

Anyway, it looks interesting to me.
I myself have thought about trying GW2. Some people here are talking about it, and maybe I'll consider giving it a try when I get some free time.

(seductive voice of the Tempter)

If you play Engineer (nominally a turret class), and you have Path of Fire, you can specialise as a Holosmith, and the first Engineer you have who does this will get a lightsabre. See my post on page 1 for pictures.

(normal voice)

Sorry.

On the topic, how about WILDSTAR, RIFT, AoC, DDO and LotRo?

Haven't touched them for years and was wondering...

Also, any other MMO but ESO I should try?

I'm kind of explorer/socializer type of player and I spend too much time furnishing my characters homes
