What's the difference between them and Sith if they are not Sith?

You find out when you read the codex. They are jedi and sith that were captured and experimented on as Vitiate/Valkorion wanted to have another version of the loyal dark honor guard. But they became so dependent on the void that they would go catatonic when they were separated from nathema. So he left them to guard the only building left on the planet. I would classify them as darkside adepts.

It's very surprising that any type of force-user can even survive on Nathema. If you read the story "revan" you get a feeling from the novel that the way it was left by Vitiate was quite a bit worse than what happened on Ziost.
