I have slicing on my main character and a alt. While I completely agree that you mostly loose money on slicing lockbox missions, there are other ways to make money with slicing. While you are out questing/leveling, there are lockbox nodes you can gather. Slicing is a gathering skill.

Most people are upset because you could literally hit a couple buttons that yielded a nice return. Multiply that by how many companions you had and it was like having a money tree in your back yard.

Going and and farming lockbox nodes takes work, and most people are looking for a lazy way to earn some credits.

I'll be the first to admit, I made alot of credits while watching Netflix. I only had to take my eyes off what I was watching for a few seconds. Will I miss that? Sure. Am I going to drop slicing because I can't do that anymore? No.
