made a commando

Hey guys,

From the token that i got for a 65 toon, i made a commando and set it to Gunnery discipline.

I did a couple of matches, but it is clear that I don't understand squat....

Can anyone take the time to give me some tips and tricks in terms of utilities and rotation? He is not 70 yet.

Also, what do you think of assault specialist? Is it a viable pvp spec, or are the dots too slow?

I can't seem to find a 5.0 guide on Gunnery Commando anywhere.

P.S Also, if you have created a toon fro 65, u got a HK 55 companion mission, but it seems that HK is still dead, do we have to go see ogurobb about that still?

Thank you!

Step 1- Gunnery mando or ****

Step 2- Engage enemies

Step 3- Profit

Just push random buttons till you win, that's how I do it on mine.

Only abilities you really need to know how and when to use is your reflect, your shield, which with a utility builds stacks that heals when it expires or you click it off and adren rush, which also heals you for a significant amount with a utility. With those 3 abilities almost no one besides another Mando or Merc should be able to kill you.

For a slightly more in depth guide, your damaging abilities and a basic rotation is tracer round grav ground(which is instant with tracer round if it doesn't miss), blazing bolts(for auto crit demo roundon set bonus gear) and then demo round.

Grav round resets the cool down on blazing bolts(and buffs the damage). Basically all you need to do is the above and then hit the abilities that light up. Deception Sin/infiltation shadow is prob the only class with an easier rotation.

The amount of damage they can do in pvp and their amazing survivability is why they're popular right now and why I suspect you made one.

Zach's guide might be a bit dated atm with 5.0, but the rotation is still about the exact same. You should be able to figure out how to use the added defensives on your own though.

That's his video guide, and he is one of the best to play the merc class. I always enjoyed playing against him or with him, even if he did always beat me. :p

And I still kill ppl in this dumb *** over tuned class. Despite what was told to you juggs and maras...good ones can still kill you. From a mobility standpoint I prefer a mara or sent. Remember to keep your distance, the excellent dcds Commandos have now make players want to face tank and if I'm in a mara that's what I want you to do. I can negate many of the dcds with mezzs and force camouflage. Commandos also have pretty predictable damage unless I'm being attacked indirectly. Good operative can kill them pretty easy as well even without the broken heal. You'll be a God if you play a commando like and old school commando. Still use pillar and situational awareness. Don't electronet targetso that don't need to be....and on and on.

So I can have a utility that will heal me in bubble while I take damage? I know that adrenal heals me quite a lot but how do I go about the second one?

You need to level up a bit to get more points and skills. 65 is not so op, unless you want to sacrifice Blazing Bolts on the move.

It's a bit hard to learn a new class from scratch at lvl 65, especially in pvp. Ideally you should learn to pvp with the class in lowbies and as you lvl up through all of mids to lvl 70.

These instant lvl 60-65 character were never intended to be taken into pvp by "green" players of the class or pvp. The intent was for people to jump straight into the story, which is much more forgiving for new people.

If you have any spare character creation slots, I would suggest you make a throw away commando character, start pvping at lvl 10 and you should have a good idea of the half the class by the time you reach lvl 30.

Then jump on your lvl 65 and do some dummy parsing on the fleet ship or capital world. Once you understand the basic rotation from dummy parsing. Jump into pvp pre lvl 70.
