If not Raiding/PvP, then what?

Ok, honest question here:

For people who don't do advanced HM/NiM raiding, HM FPs, or PvP .... what do you do once you reach max level?

I understand that some people like the story, but I can't see running in more than once or twice. Too repetitive, no challenge, etc. There's been the DVL in case you want to levels toons ad nauseam, but I wouldn't consider that end-game content.

So, to the folks who don't do advanced HM or NiM raids, don't run HM FPs, and don't PVP ... what do you do in the game once you reach max level?

Decorate my stronghold. I find my self doing that a great deal.

You could always just RP. I have always wanted to but could never really do it, to many RL destractions to involve myself like that

I have been doing some datacron hunting too, which is pretty fun and you get to explore. I have been playing since launch and never knew about the vendor behind bug town on balmorra

TY for the response. I guess strongholds could keep you busy for some time if you're really into it. Some of those decos aren't cheap.

What about other folks?

I did that and spent a lot of time on it. Sadly they are all complete and there just aren't enough decorations going around in variety to want to redo them with another theme and I actually have a lot of decorations.

I have run the entire plants (class and planet quests ) many times I reached legacy level 50 without ever doing group content doing all the stuff you said you would not enjoy and have enjoyed it greatly.

Some thing else you might consider I'm not an achievement hunter per se but you could try going through the list and try to find ones you find intresting with the new expansion try maxing out your alliance rep there is lots of content out when you look..

I speak as someone that has raided and pvp'd frequently, and though I do a bit less of that now, than before, I still do it quite a bit. Also I'm going to throw in GSF as pvp. Though it's not traditional pvp, it's still going up against other players.

However let's see.

1 ) Not everyone has completed all 8 stories / world stories, so there's that.

2) I know a lot of players (to some extent I am one too) that decorate Strong Holds, and their character's looks. I have 8 toons atm. Most of which have 2-4 different costumes, (generally not the same gear either, except in rare cases). I've had some people in my old guild that had 10 plus costumes per character, and a lot more than just 8 characters to boot. From what I remember all of the characters looked different. That's a lot of different sets to collect. Especially if you get the black / white dyes, or other expensive cartel dyes for them. This adds up real quick. Strongholds are also fairly expensive. Yes you can decorate them on a budget but eh it looks like crap that way.

3) While #2 takes time to do, meticulously picking out items for your own personal preference, it also requires a crap ton of money. This is where heroics come in. I've been grinding these for years now, on several toons and I still don't have enough cash to do everything that I want.

4) There are people who just love crafting. That's really all they do. I don't get it, at all because I despise crafting in this game, but different strokes for different folks. I've seen a handful of people literally pull guilds into the #1 or #2 spots on conquest because they craft none stop. They can also make a fair amount of money off the AH doing this too I suppose.

5) The story people. Yes there are just some people that do the story. You can say how often can you do the same story over and over again, which is a fair question. But let's face it, how often can one do the same scripted Ops fight over and over again, or a heroic 2? While pvp is a lot more fluid, even that becomes repetitive when you understand the nature of pvp. When to LoS, when to CC, when to break CC. When to pull or push someone from where they're standing. What's a good place to stand, so someone can throw you that damn Hutt Ball, etc. One may not realize it at first, but there definitely are a lot of repetitive actions in pvp.

6) And finally some people just talk. Be it on the fleet, guild chat, or TS3, Vent, Mumble. I've seen a number of people just jump on and do virtually nothing but talk. They're usually willing to help when people ask them for it, but otherwise they're just trying to not feel lonely.

I'm sure there's probably other things people do that I missed. I heard of these crazy rumors about how people are doing this thing called RP. It's probably just an urban legend, but one can never be to sure.

Thank you for the well articulated response. Reference your comment I quoted above, I think doing an Ops fight over an over again is a bit different if you haven't downed the bosses. Otherwise, I see your point.

Again, thank you for your response!

1. Earning credits/crystals to buy companions gift to reach lvl 50 influence

2. Doing the content while doing the story( planet story, planet bonus series)... i don't skip.

3. Doing every event on most alts

4. Doing conquest chores if can be soloed

5. Running scavenging gathering runs for needed materials for crafting

6. Giving those 2500 companion gifts to each of your 6-7 primary companions and some backup ones

7. Searching for hidden/forgotten security chests

8. Achievement hunting

I cannot imagine one single reason to play this game at end game if you are not doing PVP, Operations, or FPs.

Yeah you can play Martha Stewart meets Darth Vader in your stronghold, but you have to be either a woman or a man who wishes he was a woman in order to get enough fufillment out of decoratating your stronghold in the absence of all the above mentioned. And if decorating is your thing, there is a ton of decorations that you can only get from raiding/group content [or pay rediculously high prices for them on the GTN of those that are even available on it.

Really end game is all about raiding and/or PVP and gearing for them.

Are you saying that you can run TEC to grind rep for other factions? Sorry, not be knowledgeable about TEC. Ran it once and then done.

I used to grind rep until I maxed it. Now I play TEC. Skippy language on my part.

Or I grind heroics for future Alliance influence, cash, and companion gifts

So much this. I rather do a certain OP with my crew over and over again and wait for my turn for a deco, than farming credits to someone who had fun playing with his/her friends and selling the deco.

Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with buying stuff, but the asking prices nowadays just too high for me to grind up the pile of credits and give it to someone.

I make a new toon, I still have 4,5 class story to go through and I am already planning doing my second JK or Agent.

And with the amount of free time I have, that is still 1 year+ entertainment for me. And I often take breaks, so it's probably more like 2 years +. After I get bored of story content, then I have no idea, but like I said, that's still a long way from now.

I used to run hard mode flashpoints because they were my favorite activity hands down. Since returning, I haven't gotten a toon to 65 yet but want to pick back up on that old habit. Unfortunately, I hear things like the bolster, lower leveled characters being able to run the higher end and general lack of care for gearing in post 4.0 has lowered expectations to finish them. I only had a few people in genchat to go off of with that but I'm still optimistic to try my hand at challenging small group healing for fun again.

Besides that, LOTS of RP with any of my 28 characters :D

Make money, level alts, strongholds, datacrons, achievements, starfortesses, rep grind, influence grind, specialist grind, and there is probably more to do at endgame. Granted, I did start doing pvp as something different after I maxed a lot of the reps and leveled alts. Not everyone is going to share your interests.

Stuff.

My aunt used to spend hours on solitaire, I spend hours on SWTOR as a way of switching my brain to off after a busy day dealing with other peoples problems. It doesn't need to be challenging play.

Level some alts, try playing a character a different way, explore, hunt datacrons, decorate a stronghold, run dailies for cash when I want some and can be bothered, run an alliance alert or two, mess about trying to get an outfit or character appearance right, attempt to climb around on Korriban without falling to my embarrassing death again, remember I keep telling myself I'll go exploring on Voss one day and forget to do it, lust after shiny stuff I'll never be able to afford on the GTN, or take a short break till the next chapter.

Level another of over 60 alts. Update the spreadsheet on said alts so I know which of my mains are at level cap and which alts aren't yet. Write a fanfic that I haven't still decided, a few hundred pages Word Doc pages in, if I'll post somewhere. Run heroics for credits (even at a reduced rate for my lazy Solo'ist bum who is "playing the game wrong"), crates to level up Alliance or to set up for alts to level up their Alliance. GSF queue. Fly off to planets and kill stuff for achievements. The Forums. Decorate the strongholds (now I have unlocked all of the rooms of my NS, DK, Coru, and Yavin ones and don't know if I even want to bother getting the Tat one). Achievement hunt (Legacy Level 50 before I started any group activity). Rep grind.

Read Dulfy and wonder if I should try out SM Ops just to finally get the Oricon chain finished and out of the my log. Decide not to, I have other stuff to do first.

About Jan-March I play less than the rest of the year or so and play other games (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, whatever) more, then come back and do the stuff I do.
