Unofficial Fan Art Bi-monthly edition (December-January) | 12.01.2008 , 08:44 AM
1. If any artist chooses to enter, they MUST submit a sketch featuring their own work. An artist may base their drawing on pre-existing character/object/location in the Star Wars Universe (I.E. Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, Boba Fett, Slave 1, Hoth) as long as it is origional (it's their work and not copied from somewhere).

Your sketches can be set in ANY era within the Star Wars Continuity, or, if you want, it could be based off something within a timeline of your choosing (for instance, your art could feature something that came into being thousands of years after The Return of the Jedi.)

Anyone can participate in this contest, even if their art is not the best; practice makes perfect.

2. Artists cannot team up with one another (at the moment, there's too few artists as it is)

3. Artists have until 11:59PM EST 27th of January to get their sketch in. After that, the posters pm me a vote for their favorite entry (entries are constituted by a single sketch).

4. Artists can however, submit a sketch they've already made.

5. Entrants are allow to edit their entries as they work on it, and they are allowed to swap it out with something they've already made if they feel they cannot complete the entry they started on time... As long as the swap is made before the deadline (listed in #3 above), and as long as the alternative is origional. Once the deadline is past and the voting starts, entries cannot be changed for ANY reason.

6. On the 31th of January, the entries that get the most votes win.

7. Sculptures are allowed in this contest as long as it is origional.

8. Be a good sport; don't throw a fit if someone submits an entry better than yours or if no body votes for your entry. Depending on the severity of bad sportsmanship (either during the entry phase, the voting phase, or both), the sore sport's entries may be disqualified. Constructive criticism on the otherhand is allowed as long as it is polite; it's not rude or snappy.

9. Anyone caught plagiarizing/stealing another person's work (whether it be here or elsehwere) will be disqualified immediately.

And finally, since this is the Holiday season, this month's theme will focus on Christmas-like holidays in the Star Wars Universe. If this is too complicated, a second theme will focus on a celebratory theme (I.E. you compose a sketch depicting an army/faction celebrating a major victory).

January's theme will focus on Space Vehicles (As long as it is origional [not copied] and is Star Wars-ish, let your creativity flow freely).

This contest starts now! Tonight, I will announce the winner of last month's contest.

I'm liking the Space Vehicles theme, I'm liking that one a lot. I have a RP character that needs her ship put on paper and so far I've been putting it off. And I'm always happy any time I get to design a space craft without any real limitations.

*Runs off to sketch some concepts then a 3-view and a cutaway without having to practically steal the design from Airbus, Lockheed, or Boeing for once.*

By "Christmas-like holidays in the Star Wars Universe" does this mean that actual Christmas depictions would not be allowed... for example, the picture of Yoda in a santa outfit, as that would obviously not happen in the Star Wars Universe. If not, all I know of for a christmas-like holiday in Star Wars is the Wookiee Life Day. If there are others please let me know.

I suppose I could allow for something like a Yoda in Santa Uniform. Sure!

Well that is well known, but yea I am considering some ideas like that right now. Excited about the spaceship portion, got a few ideas floating around for that as well.

No need to sugarcoat it I can do better. I've almost passed my first art class if I have time I will probably make a new drawing. Can't wait to find out the winner.
